"I don't expect much for a small town Asian restaurant, but this is robbery masked in inauthenticity." Unfortunately, just about every step of my experience at Narunya was disappointing and I wish it would have been different. Narunya touts itself as a Thai restaurant, so when I searched for Pho, I thought it was interesting that they would have it on their menu. Conveniently, I was literally 1 block away when I searched so I decided to give it a shot. I love pho and spring rolls so I was excited to try this place out. When I got there, the front two parking spots had no parking sign on it, but the rest of the center allowed it. Much to my annoyance I parked towards the back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I walked in and noticed the warmth and mugginess in the air. Asian owners? Probably. I understand the struggle of blasting AC during the hot part of the day drains the bank, but it doesn't make it pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the Beef Pho and Veggie rolls. 1) Veggie Rolls - A side salad wrapped in rice paper. Srsly mindblowing.... $8? What a tragedy. Spring rolls or veggie rolls, whatever they want to call it should NOT be like that. 2) Beef Pho - What the heck is this?! For the uneducated, Beef Pho is a Vietnamese dish and this item that Narunya touted as pho is a mix of Chinese Beef noodle soup and Vermicelli. This is NOT pho. Quantity was generous though. Even the beef used is practically the same from the chinese beef noodle soup. The noodles were overall decent, but THIS IS NOT PHO. Again, I'm upset that they advertised this as beef pho when it is criminally NOT. For a total of $30+ when its all said and done, this has got to be the worst food advertised for that price. Being a very frequent business traveler, I have the opportunity to eat at restaurants all over the country. Two I always come back to bookend the same shopping center, Miller's Smokehouse and Narunya's. I have eaten Thai coast to coast. They all claim authenticity, but quality varies widely. Out of all that I've tried, Narunya's is a favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself has an interesting layout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is no parking just for them, so it can be a challenge. There is a small lot on the side, but you have to jump the curb to access it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has an indoor balcony area with plentiful seating, though I've never seen anyone up there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every time I've come in, the food is excellently prepared and presented. Service has always been attentive with regular checking to ensure the food is good and my needs met Desserts are magnificent! Really, the only thing that gives it a demerit is the programming on their deplorable credit card machine. It is programmed not only to calculate your tip after tax, but also after the excessive credit card usage fee of 3.5%. So beware and select either custom tip or a lower percentage unless you like giving businesses unearned income. read more

Hubby got the eggplant tower, I got the pepper duck, our nephew had the garlic chicken and my best friend got Panang curry. Incensed by the substandard delivery service and complete lack of concern shown by management!! Uber for no reason cancelled our order after saying it would be here in a few minutes. Narunya would accept no responsibility and couldn't care less. Said after it left their place it wasn't their responsibility!!! Refused to make it right and hung up on me. Several weeks ago, my husband and I craved Chinese for delivery. We looked up delivery places only to find out Narunya's doesn't deliver. If you subscribe to a food delivery service, you can order delivery through them, but you're out of luck otherwise. We were still interested in trying some of the menu items, so Narunya's ended up being my birthday dinner. The restaurant had a charming atmosphere with dim lighting. It was a quiet night, so we didn't have trouble getting a table, and the service was attentive for the most part. Our appetizer was some kind of spicy dumplings. The dumplings weren't spicy in the least, but they did have good flavor and came swimming in an unexpected broth. The broccoli beef was tender, but we did feel the portion was on the small side. Lastly, we both ordered the beef pho. This pho was different from our preference, but it was nice enough. (Tiny noodles, big beef chunks, not many vegetables.) We came through after a run at my favoritest Buc-cees to grub. (Man, those Bucc-ees stops really get my appetite going!) I can't even remember how far the drive was, but with Big Bro behind the wheel AND highly recommending this place, who were we to question it! Party of 4, we lucked out with one of only a few tables open. A few sections of the restaurant (both downstairs and upstairs) have been reserved to celebrate some recent grads. (Yay! But after a few minutes of read-through, it still got complicated: I wanted to try so many! But Big Bro was sweet enough to let me order for me AND him to share and we can at least go from there. SHRIMP TEMPURA: Not sure what prompted me to get these, but I just simply had the taste for it. The batter was on the thicker side but light, so it didn't take a lot away from the shrimp. It was also seasoned well and didn't think it needed the tempura sauce. Dipping it elevates it a tad it better, thought. BITE MY BELLY: Big Bro's recommendation. There was a lot of love putting these bites together. The pork was well prepped. Seared well and nice finishing sauce. If you're a pork fiend, this is a must-have! BASIL DUCK: I have never seen this anywhere ever EVER so I had to have it! (It really was to satisfy a curiosity.) Boy, was I glad I went for it. The duck was cooked PERFECTLY. It was juicy and full of flavor and taking each bite with the veggies was [insert chef's kiss here.] I had barely touched the side of rice, but did serve as a palate cleanser. Delicious! PORK BELLY BASIL: This was Big Bro's choice, but it was more a backup to his back up order. (He originally wanted their lamb dish, but it had been removed from the menu. He opted for the eggplant tower, but they didn't have it either.) It's basically like the basil duck except it's with pork. They were generous with the amount of pork bites! FOOD: 4. Overall above par, except it got a teenee bit salty in the end. SERVICE: 5. Our server was top notch perfect. She timed everything so well that we didn't even have the need to catch her attention. She was just simply there when needed. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Street and parking lots pretty much everywhere available. OVERALL: 4. I have a coconut allergy (I know, Thai is the smart choice!) so our server checked with the chef for dishes void of coconut. I had the Pad Prik Thai dum with shrimp. We think Narunya's is the best Thai food in the area. We tried the others and weren't impressed. We've been multiple times and the food is consistently good. We have dear friends that are Thai and we've traveled to Thailand to stay and nothing will compare to true fresh Thai food, but for what we get in the states- most of the time it's actually not true Thai even though it's labeled Thai- it's often Laotian or other Asian fusion. I have celiac disease and that makes it difficult to find a place that I feel really safe eating out. Not only are they able to make most things on the menu gluten-free but today we ordered two gluten-free entrées. When they served them, immediately Ricky came out and said wait to take a bite. There was one small part of one of the meals that wasn't made gluten-free. Not only did they take care of it immediately, they were so gracious, kind, and very apologetic and I couldn't have asked for a better response. I l feel SO confident in my ability to eat there as someone with an allergy. I often have to trust an establishment and then find out later if that was a mistake or not, but Narunya's really let me know that they go the extra mile for everyone. Narunya's is our go-to spot for lunch every Saturday. They make great Thai food--we love their soups, curries, noodle dishes, and fresh rolls. While the food is excellent, it's the people who work there who make this place truly special. Shoutout to Linda and Sadie, in particular, for their incredible service and kindness! They are stellar. We always look forward to visiting with them. They have our favorite dishes memorized and are so accommodating with our requests for modifications (gluten free, vegan). WOW. I was serendipitously surprised to find this place during lunch time with my friends. It's SO good. You have to try the pork basil and the Thai tea! Monday night dinner - Yummy in our tummies! No lie, best pad Thai ever. We've had our share of pad Thais and the norm is that they're always prepared too saucy and/or too sweet. We did request for less saucy and it was oh-so-amazing. I ordered the beef soup and it was delish. I loved how clean the broth was; I.e., not greasy and heavy. Last night ordered a DoorDash from this restaurant. It was disappointing. I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken. The chicken was steamed chewy and dry. The sauce that it was swimming in was sickeningly sweet and very watery, more like soup. Thankfully, the plain white rice toned it down a little bit. read more

After reading the reviews I was excited to try this place. I was in Temple for medical. Huge let down. Tried the Spring rolls, pineapple rice and Drunken noodles. 1) The decor was interesting? Looks like maybe they had an incident they are recovering from? You should walk to the bathrooms. I almost left before we ordered because this place needs a health department visit. You can see in the kitchen. 2) Way over priced. I spent $41 on two people, no drinks, just tap water (which was nasty). 3) Thai food is suppose to have flavor and spice. It had neither. Hub and I had an impromptu lunch date recently and decided to try out Narunya's. We had heard a few good things and like Thai food. Right away, upon entering, we were pleased with the spacious restaurant and nice decor. There was only one other couple there when we arrived around 12:45pm, but soon after, more guests began to be seated. Our server was quick to offer us a drink (we had water, which was very good) and gave us menus. Lovely classical music was playing in the background; I was happy about that. We each ordered a meal, that came with a side salad, which was a surprise to us...maybe we didn't see it on the menu, but it was tasty. We also were offered a free dumpling appetizer, which we had just noticed on their FB page. I had the dumpling soup with a side order of fried rice, and hub had the Pad Thai.
