Go head and order the Pad Thai while reading this. The vibe of this restaurant is very intimate and inviting. I went in for lunch. The lunch menu has good options. I ordered the pad Thai with duck. I order pad Thai often and this is hands down the best pad Thai I've ever had. It was so flavorful and I loved the portion size. I had leftovers for the next day. Italian, Mexican, and Thai cuisines are represented there with a level of quality, flavor, and aesthetic presentation that consistently exceeds expectations. I have previously written reviews about Pignetti's and Las Marias. Today, while driving back from Houston to Abilene, I stopped at Thai Café in downtown Temple. What an experience. Moni handled my order, and within minutes, my food was ready. I ordered the summer rolls and the crab noodle soup. The rolls, at first glance, resemble the standard versions you might find at HEB, Kroger, or similar grocery stores. However, what these very thoughtful chefs have done is elevate the dish with a distinctive dipping sauce and the addition of fresh basil, which transforms the rolls into something vibrant and unexpectedly complex. The flavors truly open up in a way that feels intentional and refined. But the real highlight was the crab noodle soup. It made my entire day. Thai Café is about three hours from my home, and I would genuinely consider making that drive on a Sunday just for this bowl of soup. The portion was generous, with abundant crab and noodles, and the broth was rich, layered, and deeply satisfying. I ordered it mild, but to my palate it was not spicy at all. This place was open when we visited and had decent reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the mango sticky rice since they were out of the other sticky rice option we originally wanted. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The rice was overly mushy and lacked the sweet, rich flavor we were expecting. The cashier also came across as unfriendly, which didn't make the experience any better. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other table occupied. I really can't fathom the positive reviews. The summer rolls were a mess--so old they came apart trying to separate them. The Tom Kai Gai was a weak version of what is normally a sumptuous soup. Here to update my review with my most recent visit, although the rating hasn't changed. I got the pineapple fried rice this time, and I did enjoy it much more than the pad kee mao or pad Thai. It was fragrant and had good flavour. My friend got steamed vegetables with rice, and the vegetables were unappetizing and bland. We got the mango sticky rice for dessert, which I am normally a big fan of. This one was coloured green, which already threw us off as it looked radioactive or poisonous. The taste was not great either. I've had a lot of mango sticky rice, and this was probably my least favourite of them all. Service wise, our server was friendly but forgetful. She gave us one bill for our table, which we didn't expect because we were evidently three friends, and usually the norm would be to split checks. I didn't see any signs or note in the menu that they don't split checks, so we all thought it was bizarre that she just brought one bill for the table. I've incorporated that issue into the review and kept the tone professional: My husband, daughter, and I visited for dinner today, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment we were seated, our server displayed a rude and unprofessional attitude. She made us feel as though we were interrupting her time with a friend rather than being welcomed as paying customers. Throughout the meal, her demeanor was unpleasant, and her overall attitude negatively affected our dining experience. To make matters worse, the food we received was undercooked. When we politely brought this to our server's attention, she informed us that she would not have the meal remade and offered no alternative solution. We were not looking for a free meal or special treatment--we simply wanted the food prepared correctly. The lack of concern for customer satisfaction was both surprising and frustrating. In addition to the service and food issues, the restaurant itself appeared poorly maintained. There was food on the floor, and the ceiling was leaking, creating an unclean and uncomfortable atmosphere. This has been one of our favorite places to eat for a long time, which makes this experience even more disappointing. We have always enjoyed dining here in the past, but after today's visit, we will not be returning. We tried Thai Cafe over the holidays. The servers were very nice. The food was a "B" and tasty. Unfortunately the server accident spilled a lot of sauce/juice on my shirt, pants, and shoes and we were spending the day there so I smelled like fish sauce most of the day. They apologized and offered a free drink (I politely declined). Not docking any stars for the accident - they happen. The food was decent but not anything I'd run back for. I ate at Thai cafe for the first time today. Upon arrival everything was great. Seemed like a nice little spot downtown but when I went to pay I gave the server my card which does have trumps face on it. When I got my card back trumps face had been scratched through twice. I approached Hailey and told her that my card had been scratched and she smirked and replied " oh did it" and quickly went back about her business. My card is ruined. I don't know if she is anti-Trump supporter but either way vandalizing property isn't how you should teach your staff to represent your establishment. The food here worked for the vegan in the group and two women who had never tried Thai food as well as three of us who eat Thai food regularly. I've tried over a couple dozen spots but no one can seem to come close to that original flavor I had tried in Thailand. This is a must try. Aside from that experience, everything else was incredible. I've been a regular customer since before Covid, and their food is flavorful for a good price. Which is why it pains me to give a 3 star instead of a 5 star. Thai is supposed to be one of the spiciest cuisines on the planet, to the point that "Thai Spicy" is used across the US for "proceed with caution." Barring genetically modified peppers, it should be one of the hottest things you eat in your life. But I just paid extra money for their "x4 Thai Spicy," and my 2-year old was able to eat it without any issue. I've had Chickfila spicy chicken sandwiches hotter than that. Paying extra is what triggered this review. I wish this were a one-off case, but this has been my experience for the past several years, even when I asked the waiter beforehand to confirm that the food I receive will actually be spicy. It's like I'm being handled with little kid gloves. Or they don't actually know what "Thai Spicy" is. Wish that would change. They should be ashamed that a fast food chain makes spicier food than they, a Thai restaurant, apparently can. They won't receive a 5 from me until that changes. read more

The two young ladies who run this place literally run themselves to death. It's not a very large place, but there are five steps leading up into the dining room, and to watch them go up and down them gracefully and repeatedly whilst carrying platters of food was nothing short of Olympic. The four-star rating (instead of five) is just because I was seated after about 10 minutes of waiting, and then while I was waiting at the table to have my order taken, a couple walked in and placed a to-go order - - when I had not yet had my order taken. I found that a little unsatisfactory. But the food was absolutely divine - - this is by far THE BEST drunken noodles ever, and we've lived all over the world, twice in Asia. Also? If you can't do spicy, ask for absolutely ZERO spice. Mine was "mild," and it cleared my sinuses. In a good way. I can't wait to bring my husband here for lunch on Saturday. Cat was divine as a server, and she really is underpaid at any rate/tip (I tipped her 25%). And after having read a few reviews while I was sitting there waiting for my food, I have to concur regarding the wings: as crispy and delicious as they are, they are undersalted. We love Thai food and have traveled to Thailand and have Thai friends. Often times the Thai places are run by Laotian people. Laotian food is similar, but not fully the same. I'm not sure here. I heard it was the same owner as Narunyas, but the food is not as good. The vegetables were fresh though. The flavor was lacking in the dishes we tried. We got one shrimp dish and all tails were still on the shrimp even though they were mixed in so we had to pick them all. Some still had full shells. We both ate separate things and both ended up sick after with very upset stomachs. We don't think it was just a coincidence. The food we got here was a takeout order so I can't remark on ambience. read more

Very small but clean and cutely decorated. I have Celiac disease but they can pretty much make anything on the menu gluten free. I had the veggie spring rolls and the yellow curry. The curry was very flavorful but was too salty to eat on its own. I had to get a second helping of rice to help cut down the saltiness. The veggie spring rolls consisted of rice wrap stuffed with lettuce, carrots, a bit of rice and onion. Not great but palatable with the peanut sauce. Our waitress was very friendly but she never told us her name. My husband and I would eat here again if we ever return to Temple due to the fact they can accommodate my diet. read more

I have been here numerous times and every time it has been a fantastic experience. Everything is delicious, well-prepared and super fresh. The staff are always friendly and will help you out if you need any explanation of the menu. They also do catering which I've used and they did an amazing job with everything. No matter what I have ordered, it is always a surprise at how much I love it. I love the fact that everything starts off as a vegetarian dish and you add the protein to it, so no fish sauce added to my food which is great since I don't eat seafood at all. So, although I have never been to the restaurant, I ordered takeout several times. The food has always been great. The service is also amazing! Whenever I call and I have questions about the menu there's always someone to answer my questions competently. The person taking the order has either sampled most of the dishes I'm requesting on the menu or there is always someone in house to answer any questions I may have that's very important for me when ordering takeout. Overtime I have sampled almost everything on the menu and I haven't had anything that I can say. WOW! This place is amazing. This establishment has THE BEST fried rice in the area hands down. My favorite is the Hawaiian fried rice and every time I get it I'm blown away. The portions of food they give you are amazing as well, you essentially get enough food for two meals when you get an entrée here. Everything other than the fried rice that I've ever gotten has been amazing as well. The staff are always super friendly and their service is on point. The flavors are muted from traditional Thai but that is completely necessary to do business. Connected to the restaurant a block or so up the road is a very nice and small Asian market. Great place! It was a hot day in the summer in TX We had our small dog with us because we were traveling. We stopped because we found the cafe on yelp, it had good reviews and an outside area for the dog. When we arrived they gave our baby some water which I thought was so sweet! Then they said since it was so hot and she was small that we could come inside. They again gave her water and us some too. They were the nicest people. The sauce that came with the chicken pot stickers was perfect.
