We placed an online order for pickup. We ordered tofu Pad Thai, seafood Pad Thai, veggie egg rolls and a side of soup. My tofu Pad Thai was very dry and the tofu was way over cooked. My husband said the seafood Pad Thai and soup was flavorless. The veggie egg rolls were delicious but very small. The ladies at the front counter were friendly but the food was not worth the amount we paid. read more

This is my favorite spot for Thai food in Temple! As an appetizer, I really like their summer breeze roll with shrimp. It is fresh, crispy, and goes super well with the peanut sauce. My top 2 entrees would have to be the pad thai and pad kee mao (drunken noodle). Both come with a choice of protein and I usually go with beef. I have tried to order the "fresh young coconut" drink multiple times, but it has never been available. The Thai iced coffee is very refreshing! Thai Cafe is located downtown which makes it really nice to walk around after eating. I have always found there to be plenty of parking nearby. read more

My husband and I finally had some time to check this place out. It has been on our list of places to try out. Upon arriving, we were pleased to see a bright new spot in a row of mostly empty storefronts in downtown Temple. Walking inside, the place was clean, bright, modern but very no-frills. We were greeted warmly by all of the visible staff and seated almost immediately. The dining area is small but quiet. Not overly busy for a Friday night but enough to be reassuring for a first timer. We, as always, ordered far too much for two and a half people. We started with the Fried Curry Fish Cakes with Cucumber Salad and my husband had a bowl of Tom Kha with chicken. The fish cakes were...not our favourite but I doubt very much that it was a problem of preparation. Just were not fond of the texture or flavour. The Tom Kha was fantastic. My spoon found its way into his soup more than a couple of times. For entrees my husband had the Massaman Curry, spicy (as usual) and I had the Curry Noodle Soup, spicy. The food is fantastic. We were extremely happy with the quality and taste of all of the dishes. Even our picky toddler was digging in to her kids' plate of chow mein. Thai Cafe is one of, if not, the best Thai restaurants in the local area. Most certainly top 2. We will definitely be back and hope that Thai Cafe will be a part of the revitalization of the Temple downtown. read more

What a fantastic hidden gem in Copperas Cove! The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Everything is cooked to order, super fresh, and very large portions. We've eaten there but lately we've ordered out. At least 6x Not counting the times we've stopped in for lunch. This is also family owned. Like so many places in Belton/Temple. Authentic & delicious. Order Fish cakes while they still have some. They run out! And although we order the same dishes we'll every now rotate. Never disappointed trying something new. Yet always come back to my favorite, Yellow Curry with chicken. We live the Fish or shrimp cakes. Pad Thai - Medium level Thai Chow-mein(Ramen) Cashew Chicken Pepper Steak & whole Red Snapper! Everything is so good. Oh! Best fried tofu squares too! Try the heat levels. Mild is actually mild. Medium is too hot for me. Makes hubby sweat a tad. But he likes it. Don't think twice about ordering out. Our food is hot and fresh every time we pick up. You can tell they just finished preparing it. If they tell you 20 minutes. Be there in 20. They mean 20. Try the Thai Tea. I've had it at several places but THIS one is the BEST. They wait until you're in front of them to make your Thai Tea. Even for those to go orders. The food 98% of the time phenomenal. But the service is 99% of the time terrible. I love supporting local businesses and this place has yummy food including the fried rice and red curry. But the service is severely lacking the two years I've came here. We sat and waited five minutes for someone to take our drink order. We went the whole service without being checked on. My curry was spicy when I asked for no spice and never got a refill of water. I understand they were busier by the time our food came but still service definitely needs to improve at some point. Not trying to be ugly but I love their food so that's why most time when I'm craving it I'll do take out. I hope the service improves read more

My favorite Thai food in Temple! This is my go-to for comfort food. The chicken dishes are so flavorful and contain the perfect amount of spice for my liking. One of my friends and I are both from Houston, and she heard about Thai Cafe as the place to eat while in town. This unopposing establishment in Downtown Temple is a force to be reckoned with and packs a mighty punch for being in Central Texas. Actually, it could be anywhere and I think it would still thrive. From the outside, it looks like a small Parisian bistro because of the faux-stucco facade and black awning. The picnic tables with large black and white striped umbrellas add to the ambiance from the outside. The door outside has a sticker that says "Heart of the City," which had me curious. From what I can gather its a marker given to Thai Cafe and 11 other locally owned and operated restaurants in Downtown Temple (plus a Jack in the Box?) that mark them as one of their best places for visitors to visit. When you walk in, they have a counter directly inside where you can either place your to go order, or ask to be seated. There are a short set of stairs (like 4 or 5 steps) that lead up to the sitting area. The decor is very minimalist, so don't knock them for it because the food is the actual star. Because I'm me, I always peruse the menu and Yelp before I go somewhere new and one of the reviews mentioned the Pad Thai, but with their soft shell crab on top. Listen to that reviewer because they clearly know what they're talking about! The Pad Thai is savory and a little bit of sweet with a fresh side of radicchio, hit it with a solid squirt of lime and we're achieving umami. But I have to admit, the crab stole the show. Tempura battered and deep fried, these crustaceans provide crunch, additional sweetness, and an adventure. Because it's literally the whole crab and not in parts like I assumed. And yes, eat the whole thing. The belly is succulent and meaty while the claws/legs are like wanton crisps. My friend ordered their drunken noodles and she inhaled them. So clearly they were good as well. Next time I'm in Temple, TX for whatever reason, I may just find myself back at Thai Cafe. Love this place! The food is tasty, delicious and all the positive adjectives you can think of. My family came here all the way from Waco looking for new tastes and we were so glad we did! I had the drunken noodles and my husband had the Tom Kha soup and my mother the pad cha. My kids had the pineaple fried rice. When we came there was no boba but the server said they will make some for us. This is the place to be in Temple! You won't be deceived! We finished the food before I remembered to take pics. My friend and I have been there a few times recently. We go and take our time with lunch. We use one of the two tables downstairs as we are handicapped disabled. The two young ladies ate delightful filling to go orders as well as waiting tables. When we ask about certain foods they are happy to explain. I enjoy not being bothered and feel free to ask for what we need. The food is timed perfectly between appetizers and meals. I love the basil fried rice and egg rolls. If you go you must try the special dessert with sticky rice, large slices of mango on top, and coconut milk to pour on top. The sticky rice is slightly warm and a small amount of sweetness. I've been to this place many times before and had decent experience. I ordered a takeout tonight (December 26) at 7pm. The order wasn't ready until 7:25, they told me they were running behind. Not a big deal. The staff packed my order in a hurry. When I got home, I was missing 2 orders of chicken rolls. I call the restaurant and the staff female kept arguing with me and insisting that she put the rolls, making it seem as if I was lying. It was completely uncalled for. I spend $60 at this place, I wouldn't argue over some rolls. But no apologies. Bottom line: they said they only have vegetarian rolls left and after I asked my husband to pick it up, they put only one order of rolls instead of two. read more

Without a doubt this is the best Thai restaurant in Bell County. Thai Cafe food always taste fresh and authentic, and the variety of dishes available is impressive (even more when we take into consideration that everything is basically made carefully by Thi, the chef). The prices range depending on the dish, but they're fair. Upon entering the restaurant, don't let the takeout style counter fool you, as there's also a dining area upstairs with a couple of nice spots. It's a modest building, and sometimes it can get cramped when there are too many customers, however the food quality is so good that it's worth it. Everything is very authentic and fresh. The Pad Thai has the right amount of sweetness and is very savory; I'd recommend having it with soft-shell crab, as it's a heavenly combination. I also enjoy the curries at Thai Cafe, my favorite being the Massaman Curry as it has a very comfortable, hearty flavor. Then there's also the Pad Woon Sen, which is quite different then the usual noodles and comes with rice, making it a fairly filling portion. I must admit that my favorite dish at Thai Cafe is the Khao Soi, which I'd recommend anyone who enjoy spice and crunchy dishes to try. Thi will prepare everything carefully and with excellence, and he'll always do it the way the costumer asks, so don't be afraid to mention what you like or dislike and ask for changes; Thi is a very understanding chef and he aims to please the customer. I never had a bad experience when asking him things. The Thai salads don't leave anything to be desired either, as they're always fresh, and booming with flavor. Out of all the salads, my favorite is the Green Papaya salad, which is very savory and has a nice mouth feel due to the green papaya crunchiness; it pairs perfectly with fermented blue crab (be advised that the fermented crab has a strong flavor and is very salty, so it's not for everyone). Careful when ordering the Thai salads though, as they're much spicier than the hot plates, and perhaps you should go one spice level below what you usually order. You'll find a plethora of fresh veggies such as cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, green onions, etc in the salads, and they're so different than your usual western salad that even people who are not big into salads may enjoy them. The drinks are something that don't disappoint either. Thai Cafe has a wide selection of signature smoothies (the young coconut one being absolutely outstanding) as well as the usual Thai drinks such as Thai tea or Thai coffee, and even some imported Asian soy milk and other goods. The smoothies are definitely the high point though, and everyone should try them at least once (the chill does well to contrast the spicy). Sometimes the service can be a little slow and the restaurant gets really full at rush hours, but other than that everything is top-notch. Thai Cafe is definitely a restaurant that you shouldn't miss out. Be it for delivery, take out or dine in, they're worth it. Great service very clean establishment even better food at decent prices so I do not have one single complaint

I waffled between 1 and 2 stars. Lots of mushy potatoes, 2 "coins" of carrot, and 4 small pieces of beef in my Massaman Curry. Nothing "Fresh or Bright" in this dish..rather coconut milk and a massaman paste along with the aforementioned additions. Massaman is of course a Peanut curry and this one was the Peter Pan version for sure. Light on the peanut taste, and not a trace of peanuts in the dish or on the side. Maybe the owner has a peanut allergy..yeah, that's it. Front servers can use a course in hospitality as well. The only saving grace was the friendly young Thai gentleman that brought me my food (to go), and that this place is in Temple......thus true ethnic options are fairly limited (other than some of the best street taco - taco trucks you can find anywhere). I'll stick with Mee Mees down the road, or Narunya's Thai in Belton next time I have a hankering.. read more

This place had a plethora of good things going for it. First and foremost the food was good. The curry is by far the best in the area and my husband ordered the massaman curry that was cooked perfectly. All of the vegetables were nice and tender and the curry portion was beautifully spiced. Basil fried rice not so much but still good. We both got medium and I highly recommend getting the mild and adding your own spice if it's not spicy enough, because that medium was HOT! Service was attentive and the young man who served us was very nice and friendly. The food was reasonably priced and I will definitely be coming back for lunch can't beat $7.95 between 11-2pm M-F. Biggest downside of this place is it feels a little divey. No music playing which I feel is a little awkward in a restaurant setting. From out of town and found this place on yelp and went because of the reviews- such a wonderful local find! Everyone should support this Thai cafe- their food was super flavorful. We tried the satay appetizer and the yellow curry. The appetizer came with this vinegar salad that was an unexpected tasty surprise! The peanut dip that went with the chicken was perfect- it threw us off a little bit because it looked like a Mexican salsa but the flavors were great and a perfect accompaniment for the chicken. The yellow curry was a large portion! We split and ordered extra rice. The Thai tea was sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet which was nice and went well with the spice in the curry.
