This Thai restaurant "knocks it out of the park" in Central Texas. A clean, great food, courteous and prices right place that downtown Temple is lucky to have. It is a "diner style" restaurant that serves both authentic and traditional dishes. The seafood offerings there are not found in most Thai restaurants especially in cities the size of Temple. Honestly I don't know how this place isn't always full? I'm passing through from Austin to Dallas and thought I'd stop to get a bite to eat. The building is in the heart of the Old Temple Square and inside looks as if it took over what used to be an old diner. The food is delicious and authentic. The Tom yum is something that I'd have everyday for the rest of my life. Pad Thai was good as well as fresh rolls. They're known for the fresh seafood but me not being from here I didn't want to risk it. This is a family run establishment with the great grandma as the head chef. Went here for lunch with a couple of co-workers. I don't really understand all of the 5 star reviews. I can't remember the name of want I ordered, but it was Jasmine something. The dish was inedible, i only had about 2 bites. It is supposed to be stir fried vegetables with a brown sauce, and the protein of your choice. What it really was, raw vegetables in a brown broth with extremely over cooked sliced beef. Everything about this dish was bad. The service was also quite bad. I wanted to ask for some soy or hoisin sauce to try to make the dish slightly better and hopefully be able to eat it, but it seems the wait staff doesn't check on tables after they get their food. When I was finally able to get the attention of the waitress, I asked if the dish was cooked correctly, I mentioned how watery the sauce was. She said that is normal, that is the sauce they use. She did not ask me if I had issues with the dish or do there was anything else I needed. It should also be clue to the wait staff when you see a dish look untouched and not wanting a to-go box. My friend and I are visiting Temple Texas and heard that Thai Café had the best Thai food in Temple. I ordered the yellow curry with vegetables and tofu and the summer roll with tofu. The summer roll was good, but I thought it was odd but it didn't have vermicelli noodles in it, and was mainly lettuce. The yellow curry was good, however, I felt like it was a little too sweet for my liking. Next time I go, I would probably ask to make the curry spicier and would probably noodles because that seems to be a good choice. read more

Mee Mee's is just as good but better prices. Thai Cafe thinks they are gourmet but they aren't. Small portions and they just can't seem to keep there food consistent from one visit to the next. Shrimp pad thai is my litmus test for thai restaurants. It was flavorless, without all the additional toppings that make it better. To his credit, the owner called and offered to make me another one, as I had order via delivery. So there is that. Food is pretty tasty. Waitress are very friendly. Big issue for me is the lack of meat in the dishes and how small the overall portions of the meals are. We always have leftovers at all the other Thai restaurants in Temple/Belton. But here....never. They are also a little more expensive than the other Thai joints. If I'm gonna pay $20 for a lobster lunch, ideally it would have more than five little bites of lobster. High priced and small portions.....but tasty and the waitstaff are great. read more

I used to always come here before they redecorated. It was the BEST hole-in-the-wall thai place around. Unfortunately, today, I had the worst Thai ever from here. I don't know what happened. My noodles tasted super burnt in my pad see ew and my mom didn't have any vegetables or chicken in hers. I ordered extra broccoli with chicken in the pad see ew. I ordered us both the same thing. Our noodles were stuck together as if they were left overs from the week before (GROSS) as if they just microwaved them. Super bland too. I even found small bones in our food! Not even the soy sauce could save the dish. Additionally, I came to pick up my order. None of the waitresses greeted me or paid attention to me. Finally I had to say "hello! I'm here to pick up my order??" In order for someone to listen to me. It was already on the counter (I've worked in the food industry so I know what good service is). All and all, it was TERRIBLE. We were in the Temple area and craving some Thai food and I'm so glad we found this place. When we walked in they greeted us and told us we could sit anywhere. They have a section away from the entrance and the kitchen. Nobody was there yet but it had just opened. For appetizers, we ordered the chicken satay that came with peanut sauce and cucumber salad and then the crab ragoons. We also ordered Panang curry and pad cha, which were all delicious! My husband and I ate everything and still had some curry left to take home. As for the ambiance, it definitely had the mom & pop feel. This thai restaurant gave a sense of "home" (I'm Lao btw). The staff were really nice. They even asked us if we were hot and turned on the AC. They came every now and then to check if we were doing okay or if we needed anything. Super nice. If we were to ever be in Temple again craving Thai food this will definitely be our first choice!:) read more

We started off with the Bangkok Dim Sum (dumplings) which were awesome, definitely would order them again. Then we had the spicy Hawaiian fried rice which was pretty spicy, but still enjoyable (or maybe I'm starting to build up my spice tolerance). Then we ordered all the wing flavors, which I believe my favorite flavor was the sweet Thai chili. I could see myself going there just to eat the sweet Thai chili wings. You definitely would not be disappointed if you come here, because this is our second time and we are already looking forward to coming here again! This was a great date night place. The food was fantastic. I had the Pad Thai and my wife had the cashew chicken. Both were very good and the server was very friendly. We also had the Crab ragoon which was very good but the wanton shapes were not conducive for easy breaking and eating as you cannot put the whole thing in your mouth. Worth a visit! My husband and I have been craving Thai food since we returned from our Thailand trip this past summer, and this place definitely satisfies that craving. We've been here for 4 times in just one week, and have loved everything we've tried. We were pleased that they had Khao Soi (Chiang Mai curry noodle), a dish we've been unable to find outside of Chiang Mai. The free lunch egg roll is delicious. Thai cafe is absolutely amazing! I have finally found a local place to get great Asian food in town. I've tried places in Austin but they were all pretty lackluster. I've even tried the chains Mama Fus and Panda Express (don't even get me started on Panda, see my previous review), but again.... gross. But then, one glorious day a numbing visit to the dentist left me searching for comfort food and I stumbled upon Thai Cafe. I'm so thankful that I did.
