We did a kitchen remodel several years ago and our contractor recommended KitchenSync as the place to get our cabinets. They worked with us to get the best choice to fit our budget and layout. (We got Mid-Continent cherry cabinets that we're really happy with.) Fast forward to 2022 and a hinge on one cabinet door had come loose, causing the door to sag slightly I called the shop and asked if we needed a special tool because Phillips and slot screwdrivers were not working very well. Jeffrey looked into it and confirmed that we needed a Pozidrive #2 bit (available at Ace Hardware for $2). Sure enough, problem solved. This review is long overdue. We bought our Ultracraft kitchen cabinets and Caesarstone quartz countertop from Jeff and he was awesome! Our cabinets are beautiful, we are so happy with them. When they first arrived, some of them were damaged (Ultracraft's fault, not Jeffs) and Jeff was on vacation but Gary (owner and manager at the SF location) was sooo helpful. He exchanged all of them out immediately and took care of it. The prices were extremely reasonable and competitive with other places we shopped at (especially the quartz countertops). Jeff is great with communication and always responded quickly. He worked well with our contractor and is just an all around great guy. I would definitely recommend him to my friends. My experience with Kitchen Sync started out good but became progressively bad to the point where I would not recommend them to anyone. I came to this place based upon a recommendation from my architect and while the initial consultations went well, when the cabinets were delivered there were numerous problems: wrong cabinets, misalignments, bad fixes, no fixes, and general unresponsiveness. To make up for it they offered me some cabinet accessories but never delivered on them and do not return my complaint calls. It started out well with Jeffrey, he was the only cabinet/countertop vendor that came to the house for the initial assessment and basic estimate, so that and the fact that he was close by caused me to pick him. What a mistake! I should have figured there was a problem when I saw how unorganized his shop was. He was really nice and easy to work with, or so I thought. We ordered the Ultracraft cabinets (DO NOT EVER ORDER THESE - poor quality for the money) in the middle of February so that they would be available the end of March to install in our brand new kitchen. We had to pay half up front with the other half at point of delivery. The order came in on time but...our contractors weren't ready for them so the cabinets sat in the warehouse - which was fine. However, when the contractors put in the cabinets, 2 doors were warped, 1 door was just plain messed up, and the pantry doors had been measured in correctly. We JUST got the replacement (3) doors last Friday (6/21/2013) - which technically wasn't Jeffrey's fault but I really wish I hadn't paid him the full balance until we got everything. Then for the wrong sized pantry doors (which Jeffrey admitted he'd ordered the wrong ones, anyway - we wanted to put in etched glass in those and they came with wood) which were found to be wrong at the end of April, he came to the house in early May (about 2 weeks after finding they were the wrong doors - size and style) he said he'd get them ordered and we should have them the end of May. We had thought he'd reordered them in April two weeks prior - his communication skills are awful! At this point, I decided to just have my general contractor work with him so that I didn't have to do so. Anyway, the pantry cabinets finally came in yesterday (6/25/2013) almost a month after his reorder. ARGHH...and they're wrong again. I've almost given up of having what we want but at least my contractor is keeping up on it - 3months for cabinets is way too long! Then for the countertop, he didn't tell us that in order to do both sides of the kitchen, we'd have to get 2 slabs (an extra 1000) if we didn't want lines or pieced together. Another delay and more expense but at least we finally got them. The overall remodeling experience has been a trial, with things being found wrong and such, but it would have been so much better if Jeffery from KitchenSync, Berkeley, would have done his job better. I will never ever use him again! read more
