Jeffrey looked into it and confirmed that we needed a Pozidrive #2 bit (available at Ace Hardware for $2). Sure enough, problem solved. I dislike about 95% of the carpet out there ... but don't have the option of putting in hard floors. My pickiness was no match for Andrew, however; he helped me find that needle in the haystack. He pulled out collections that fit my criteria, throwing them on the showroom floor and having me home in on the promising ones via process of elimination. When I showed him some varieties of carpet that I liked from a company outside of The Floor Store's network, he researched them to see if their products met his standards and if working with them would go smoothly (not so much). He got an in-network vendor to send larger samples so that I could really see what various styles would look like in my home. And he walked me through the contract process step by step, making sure I understood exactly what I was signing and paying for. Once that contract was signed, everything moved quickly. Andrew checked in during installation and even humored me at the final stage, allowing me to give him a virtual tour once the carpet was laid. I would certainly recommend him and The Floor Store to anyone looking to get new hard floors or carpet. My wife and I came in on a Sunday morning, just behind another family with older parents. Coincidentally we were both looking at bathroom vanities. A sales rep followed the other family to look at everything while we were ignored. After we made our decisions ourselves, we made our way to the front to the comp coffee machine thinking someone will come help us. Not a single rep in sight. At the coffee machine, warehouse staff were making multiple cups to pour into their thermos and coughing/sneezing all over the cups and lids. We went back to vanities without a coffee. We got back to vanities (coffee is front of the warehouse, vanities in the far back) and still not a single rep. We made this walk at least 4 times. We confirmed our decisions and we walked back to the front, again no one. At the front, I finally saw the entire sales staff doing something in a back corner so I called out if I can get some help. I apologize if I bothered them! No comments from the sales rep who helped print my order, no asking what I needed help with. He just followed us and I told him. No comments when I told him we walked for an hour without any help As we were paying, a cashier had to come from that same busy corner to take my card. As I was paying, the sales rep who was busy with the other family comes up to see what we bought. When he was working with them for a sale, we were walking back and forth around their group so I know he noticed us. Maybe he realizes he missed the sales on his record. Again, if I had other better options, I would have gone elsewhere.

He was down to earth, was very enthusiastic, clearly understood what we wanted to do, and had a lot of useful advice for us. Even though he had a busy schedule (which we didn't know until we asked him when he could start the project), he spent over an hour with us discussing our project. While we ultimately chose another contractor, we already know we want to use Troy Construction for our next big house project...

He helped us with a couple projects back to back to fix some issues that were stressful when it would rain including an issue with our front porch where the floor sloped toward the foundation and would pool water in the rain, and a leaky corner of our garage due a drainage issue that had been plaguing us for months (and had dry rot as a result). When something came up with one project that added to the scope and cost (as it happens sometimes), he was willing to find solutions that fit our budget so we could still complete both projects to satisfaction. His team did great work and as it's raining again now, it's so nice not to have to stress! When we're ready for our next project, we plan to work with him again!
