The best thing about the place was the abundant seating- indoor/outdoor and even a rooftop patio apparently. The restaurant can accommodate private events. We were seated quickly (outside) when we arrived for lunch. There is a nice fire pit outside as well as cornhole. The service was friendly. I wished they took the menus away after ordering though, since I would've liked more room on the table. My friend and I ordered three things to share- meatballs, Cesar salad, and the Chilton Combo pizza. My favorite of the three was the meatballs. While everything was good, the food was pricy. The thin crust pizza was especially overpriced at $26. The restaurant is a nice addition to the neighborhood, but I don't think it's a place to drive out of your way for. "Just a bit outside" well, what could be an easy five stars is three. First, they have a well thought out menu and a unique selection of drinks. The service was solid, and yet I found that everything was slightly off. And then the bill came. For two people, just under $100. What this means is that just about every restaurant in the area is in the same price range or under. And that's a problem from a competition point of view, because it puts so many other options into play. We had a pretzel to start. By and far, it was easily the best pretzel I have ever had. And I make them. It was generous in size and came with mustard and cheese dip. My wife ordered a punch cooler drink that was underwhelming both in quantity and value. She is a lightweight and felt absolutely nothing from the drink. The glass size was maybe 5 ounces, so when you include ice and garnish, there isn't much room. It was an interesting flavor and had a spicy finish, but it was far too small for $14. It needed to be twice the size to command that cost. I had a steak sandwich which was good, but it didn't blow my hair back. My wife had the salmon which was bland. All of the food was served hot, and it all seemed fresh. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but it can be loud. Overall, considering the triad of value (establishment/ambiance, service/food, and cost, they are not as well positioned as other restaurants in the same price range. I believe they could overcome this by either dropping price or offering enhanced meals- the salmon had two broccoli florets, where if they added two more it would have balanced better, and the salmon portion was dwarfed in the polenta. The drink should have been in a larger glass and have more of everything. My steak sandwich could have been an inch longer and that would have been a game changer along with a bit more protein. About the only item that measured up to the price was the pretzel. I hope they continue to find a sweet spot where it is a solid value balanced with quality, as I would love to make it a regular place. Serena T is the WORST server ever!! She took my order, INCORRECTLY! and I never saw her again! I had to ask front staff for a refill and ate the food that was not as I ordered because Serena never came to check on me I waited 10 minutes for a check at my table but Serena was nowhere to be found. I've given this restaurant a couple more tries now- as it's less than a mile from my house. The cocktails are always delicious- but it's $15 for my favorite small drink- literally just enough for a few sips with the amount of ice in the glass. Finally made it over to Kitchen747 for a lunch date with wifey. Walking in you can feel the West Roseville vibe with the nicely done interior complete with a full bar and 3 TVs. I'd imagine they are hoppin on game nights, might have to swing by for a drink one of these nights. We were sat immediately (Thursday just before 1pm) with menus and a seasonal menu. It's great they have rotational options to pick from and we both ended up with dishes from there. Our server greeted us with waters in hand which I'm all about. It annoys me when we dine places and it takes 15+ minutes just to get a water, so bonus pts for 747. I had the BBQ Ribeye Pizza and my wife had the Davis burger which was a salmon patty. Both were great! They clearly have perfected their crust for their pizza. You really don't need any dipping sauce for it, it's perfect on its own. There was a good amount of cheese to have pull strings when you took a slice, but not too much where you feel like it's drowning in cheese. My only complaint was about half the ribeye slices being on the dry side. The white sauce and BBQ sauce helped with that, but some pieces were a bit too dry even with it. Other than those few pieces too dry, it was excellent. If I didn't have to go back to work after I probably would have finished the whole thing. The salmon patty in the Davis burger was cooked to perfection. Having thicker veggies and avocado made for a great bite my wife let me have. It's that balance of being a fresh burger with the warm salmon that melts in your mouth. And let me take a moment to tell you... upgrade to garlic fries!! My gawd, it's worth the extra $2, trust me (unless you don't like garlic, in which case, I can't relate :p) Something else I appreciated was 2 other staff members on separate occasions helped us out. It makes for a great experience when other staff pitch in as they see fit and not just depend on your specific server to do everything. All in all, we had a great experience for lunch. It's a bit pricey compared to other spots in the greater area so for our budget, it will be more of a special occasion spot rather than a regular cycle restaurant in our arsenal. Walking in, the music was fun and the energy was so enticing. There was little to no wait for us. Our server Rileigh was 1000/10 from the jump! From her recommendations to her attentiveness, I don't think we had to ask for one thing, she made sure we had everything including sauce and napkins and never let our drinks go empty. He always smiles while greeting us and is very friendly and provides us great service and conversation. Giving them a 3/5 due to inconsistent quality of food and customer service. Sometimes food is great, other times (like today) food is not good at all. Price is too high to not be consistently good. Got the meatballs today (which sometimes are SO good), they were hard to cut through, barely warm, and cheese not close to being melted on the polenta. Not sure if they were frozen and then barely thawed out to make them that way, but they were not edible. The meat balls are $21 for 4 of them. Not worth it. The service today was good, but every other time we get a service that is not attentive or not friendly. Drinks are always really good and we love the layout, so unfortunately after today we will only be getting drinks. We have tried many things on the menu (salads, meatballs, burgers, pizza) as we've been coming since they opened and they are all inconsistent. Gave this food a lot of chances, but won't be spending more money on the food. There's other Roseville staples we would rather spend a pretty penny on that are more consistent regularly. Disappointing and Overpriced - Never Again I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Kitchen 747 in Roseville, CA, and it was nothing short of disappointing. Here's why: No Heat - Miserable Atmosphere We were seated in an unheated area, which was already uncomfortable. When we asked to be moved, they placed us in the back near a door that kept opening, letting in freezing air. Everyone around us, including ourselves, was so cold we had to eat with our coats on. Terrible Food Quality The food was atrocious. Some of it was cold, and parts were literally frozen: The salmon burger was mushy, cold, and fell apart into a mess as soon as I took a bite. My daughter-in-law's meatball sandwich had a partially frozen meatball inside. My son's Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon was drenched in an overwhelming pool of syrup, which ruined the dish completely. Even the fries were cold and stale. Unbelievable Cost We paid over $200 for what essentially felt like microwaveable food. This kind of price point comes with high expectations, and Kitchen 747 failed spectacularly. A Birthday Ruined This was supposed to be a celebratory dinner for my birthday. Instead, it turned into a frustrating and embarrassing night that I tried to endure without showing just how unhappy I was.
