    Grilled chicken sandwich
    Natasha H.

I've eaten here before and had the steak, which was great, but this time got a grilled chicken sandwich. I was seated quickly and taken care of very efficiently. My sandwich and salad were delicious. It's so nice to have a nice healthy option inside the EWR airport. Definitely a regular stop for me while waiting for my flight!

The layout is fine for airport dining. Generally a nice place the service is fair. The food menu is very limited and for breakfast I had a breakfast burrito. It was very large but just ok. It's an airport dining spot so expectations are typical.

Salmon, forbidden rice and bok choy - delicious!

I thought I would never say this but wow United flight area in Terminal A was a great experience for me. I do a decent amount of flying for work and I've seen some good airports and some that could use work and will say that this part of Terminal A in Newark was up to par. I had an evening flight back home and was looking for dinner before my flight and found this beautiful restaurant to dine at. They have a circular bar, which gives this place a very spacious feel and overall Terminal A around here felts spacious and not cramped. I sat at the bar and plenty of outlets to charge up your electronics. Service was prompt and efficient. I ordered a draft beer, which was nice and fresh. I had the salmon, forbidden rice and bok choy for dinner and this was an excellent dish. I love forbidden rice and they cooked this perfectly. Meal was great and several of the other bar diners were friendly and we all chatted a bit. I'll definitely come back here again. Thanks for making my flying experience comfortable and enjoyable!

A gem in terminal A by gate 20-24. I've been coming to Newark airport for a long time. Kitchen step is hands down the best breakfast I have had. Even better than Classified. I really like the atmosphere and open area. Plants on the tables, lots of space, and a pillar decorated like garden. I also loved the food. My avocado toast was amazing. A thick slice of thick-crusted breakd topped with avocado and crushed red pepper flakes. Highly recommended. Finally, Ana was an excellent server. She really made it an outstanding experience.

Stopped by their counter last night for a beer while waiting for a flight to board nearby. Newark airport has recently gotten a facelift and this restaurant/bar is one of the new additions. I enjoyed a nice draft tangerine IPA from Departed Souls Brewing of Jersey City. I wasn't familiar with the brewery but happy to try out something unfamiliar. Service was friendly. I'd definitely stop by again.

While waiting around for my flight, the atmosphere of this restaurant immediately drew me in. It's a gorgeous aesthetic that reminded me of a higher caliber restaurant with the greenery and the twinkling tree in the middle of the space. Terminal A has definitely stepped up their game! Aside from the great atmosphere, the food was disappointingly mediocre. For this reason and considering the price point, I wouldn't return. Service was super great and while we had time to kill, our server was extremely attentive. I noticed other tables turning over fast too so I wouldn't worry about the experience taking too long. Food: I ordered the Oven roasted chicken breast with polenta, wild mushroom jus, and chive oil, which sounded mouthwatering on paper. The polenta was underwhelmingly flavorless despit the drizzle of chive oil and mushroom ju sauce on top. The chicken breast was cooked nicely, but also lacked flavor. The mushrooms made up for some of this. The broccolini seemed to be a quick blanch and was a pretty small serving of veg. The Grilled chicken sandwich was pretty good and the fries were yummy. Overall, my dish left something to the imagination and almost seemed like a rush job. Presentation with the oil was a bit sloppy too. Drink: I enjoyed a glass of a Sauvignon Blanc my waitress recommended.

Good fresh food in the air port is rare. The steak was cooked to perfection and the grilled asparagus was tender. The mushroom sauce was amazing. Our server was a sweetheart and took great care of me even though I sat there a while waiting for my plane. The restaurant was busy and lively.

Grilled chicken sandwich + side salad Herb marinated grilled chicken + tomato + arugula + burrata + pesto
    Craig G.

Every time I fly out west, I hope my trek starts from Terminal A. Cleanliness and flow aside, it's mostly for the food. I haven't been out to Kitchen Step's flagship in Jersey City but their menu called to me while waiting on a flight to Phoenix on a Sunday afternoon. Being in an airport, the menu is limited...and at least a few dollars more expensive than you'd find elsewhere. Looking to eat at least modestly healthy: I was sat at a table and ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with side salad and a Departed Souls tangerine IPA. The sandwhich was much better than the typical airport fare: herb marinated chicken breast + tomato + arugula + burrata on a brioche bun with pesto spread. The pesto was bright and herby while the creaminess of the burrata didn't feel too heavy.

    Arcadian greens with salmon

I stop here whenever I have time in Terminal A. Salads are always very good. I had the Arcadian greens with salmon added. Delicious and service was great!!! Usually pretty quick too

Failure to launch - no outlets at the bar. Just these plates. For a brand new terminal, disappointing.
    Thea Z.

Honestly disappointed by the experience. I'll give it a go another time but for now I'm one and done. Service was frustrating, food quality less than average, and set up for an airport just nope. Service: the guy behind the bar could not be bothered. When I asked him for a cocktail list he said there wasn't one, that I could look at what they have and ask for something. I finally flagged him down to order wine and before I could get my order out for the food, he wandered away. He and another guy kept passing off orders to each other , 50% of them getting forgotten. I had to ask for water 3 times. Food: ordered a salad with chicken. Chicken was great! Lettuce was Sandy so not well washed (cmon!), and the banana peppers were mostly the tops which are inedible. I was a sad salad eater. Set up: it's 2023. If you're going to put a brand new eatery in an airport, have outlets. Seriously. Also people kept complaining for lack of service and kept coming up to the bar to try to order and the staff kept getting annoyed instead of addressing the issue. There were tons of staff it seemed, at least 5-6 milling about in the kitchen hanging and talking. Definitely not comparable to the kitchen step in JC or any decent restaurant that's worth a $50 spend for a salad and wine at an airport. Sorry!

Kale Caesar salad with chicken -- very good!
    Haley S.

Ambiance-- Great earthy, relaxing ambiance, especially for an airport restaurant. Service-- Lovely wait staff! Both my waiter and the two hostesses provided kind, professional service. Getting seated and served on a Tuesday afternoon was no problem. Food-- My Kale Chicken Caesar salad was delicious. Not just for airport food, but for food in general. This was a good Caesar! The kale was so well marinated/massaged, that it did not taste bitter, not raw, or crunchy, making it easy to eat and digest. I chose to add the chicken, and I'm glad I did. The chicken tasted high quality and was cooked to my liking. It was tender, flavorful, and juicy in the way you want chicken to be. Not at all dry or rubbery or dry (two descriptors I usually associate with airport chicken). If I ever fly via Newark again, I would happily come back here

I'm not gonna lie. I'm a frequent visitor of the restaurant in Jersey City. And I was delighted to see a friendly face in a busy airport. The food and the drinks are delicious in both places. What a great addition to the airport. I would give it five stars but they didn't have the full menu yet. But I can most guarantee when they do it will be glorious. Looking forward to eating in both places again , you guys made Newark airport a nicer place

    Shrimp piccata
    Dawn H.

I am so happy Newark airport has been renovated. There are a ton of options available. Today I decided to try Kitchen Step. I was immediately greeted and seated. I ordered the shrimp piccata and the waitress said it was a great choice. My food was brought out in less than 10 minutes. The smell excited me before I even took a taste. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the portion was large. I will visit again when in the airport.

My husband ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk, rich and comforting, and my mom had a chai with oat milk. She enjoyed the flavor overall. Food-wise, my husband ordered the chorizo omelette and was very happy with it--hearty, well-seasoned, and satisfying. I had the salmon salad, which was delicious. The dressing was balanced and flavorful, the greens fresh, and the salmon was cooked and seasoned really well. I will note that the salmon portion was a bit smaller than what I'd seen in some Yelp photos, but the quality absolutely made up for it. My mom had the club sandwich, which was generously sized and filling. She also wasn't a fan of the soft-boiled egg that came with her dish, but that's more a personal preference--she's firmly in the "well-done only" camp. Our little one had eggs and fries and was clearly living her best life. A sweet highlight of the visit was when the owner kindly gave her a cookie on the house--such a small gesture, but it really made the experience feel warm and personal. First, the good -- fries traveled surprisingly well and still had snap. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich had solid flavor on first bite, and The X-Frango's size was generous enough to feel like you got your money's worth. But let's talk construction. The chicken sandwich came overloaded with coleslaw -- not the crisp, tangy kind, but the soggy, sliding-around sort that hijacks the texture of the whole thing. For a spot that bills itself as a craveable comfort fix, balance matters. The Mini Pudim? Cute in concept, but forgettable in execution. Because this was delivery, I'll cut a bit of slack -- texture always takes a hit in transit -- but for nearly $60, I expected more cohesion and less "eh." Would I Return? Not for delivery. I'd give them another shot in person, where crunch and heat can actually shine. Rating: TLDR: Snack Mania might scratch your fast-food itch, but if you're chasing comfort and quality, you're better off waiting 'til you can try it fresh off the line.
