Sit back folks. This was a nightmare! We came to celebrate a relative's birthday! (Happy Birthday M!). This restaurant has plenty of parking. The dining area is large and clean but cold both in looks and temperature. The hostesses were confused about giving us a table vs a booth. We were a party of six and they couldn't understand we'd be more comfortable at a table. Then the wait started. We waited almost 15 minutes before a waiter came over. And that was with me trying to find someone to help us (while the restaurant was barely 10% occupied). We eventually ordered sodas, burgers, fish and chips and a fried mushroom appetizer. And of course, we added the salad bar. Now if you read my past reviews you know I despise salad bars. But, when in Rome.....Now, the drink order of soft drinks took 10 minutes to come out. 6 people. 2 straws. That math doesn't add up. An additional 5 minutes for more straws. The salad bar was relatively clean but not completely refreshed and full. Typical salad bar, but maybe needed maintenance to keep the utensils and ingredients up to par. Then the food arrived- well not all the food...The appetizer was missing...The fish and chips were missing...The burgers came out at different times...I had to find the ketchup hidden behind a counter myself because I couldn't find the waiter. Then after asking twice more and waiting an additional 15 minutes- The waiter came over and said the appetizer and fish and chips would be delayed because the kitchen was backed up. There were literally maybe 5 tables sat in this very large restaurant. The place was empty. I cancelled the fish and chips and appetizer because most of my group were 3/4 done with their food. I just asked for drink refills. Ten minutes later we see the waiter talking to another table. I reminded him to bring the refills and he said yes. Another 10 minutes. No drinks. No waiter. I went up to the hostess and asked for the manager. She was very understanding. She said first she's going to get the drinks over. 10 minutes later our waiter appears with 3 glasses of water. I reminded him about the sodas. Several minutes later they appeared. About 15 minutes later the manager came to the table with all the missing food and told us we would not be charged for the missed dishes. (She didn't charge us and even gave us a discount on the bill). We asked our waiter for the check. He literally stood next to me waiting for me to look at the check and pay. It was so odd. I told him I needed a few minutes. Then it took quite awhile to find him to pay. This was a mess. They didn't clear the plates from the salad bar or the empty glasses from our table the entire time. It was a mess. Now the food. The burger was very good. The tater tots were undercooked. The Mac and Cheese seemed to be satisfying to one of my guests. The fish and chips were greasy and the fries were cold. Despite all this, we had a great time because our family hanging out together can out-weigh even one of the worst served meals out there. Pretty good place. It wasn't very busy when I got here, but they for some reason were seating almost everyone at the bar or in the tables immediately surrounding the bar. Which isn't a big deal however it made things really really busy for the seemingly 1 person working that area PLUS the bar! She was working very hard but was just constantly under an avalanche so it did take probably over an hour from the time I was seated (no wait at all) to the time I walked out. Again not a big deal as o had nothing going on and brought a book with me so I was plenty entertained. I got hickory bourbon glazed salmon and the endless salad bar added on. I liked the salad bar option, it had several choices but NOTHING was labeled. Okay fine I can identify a tomato and a cucumber and pasta salad. It took about 30 minutes to get a drink refill, and when we arrived, there was no server at the front. Oh I so love making my own salad! The croutons were divine and all was well organized and fresh. Clean restaurant and my potato soup was served at perfect warmth. I was at Ruby Tuesday a week ago. Our waitress was wonderful, however the food left much to be desired. The restaurant was not very busy and yet we had to wait for a table. It was colder in the restaurant than outside. It's a shame that we paid almost $100 for food that was not edible. I asked for the manager and she was not helpful at all. I saw an awesome weekly $7 burger deal and had to try out Ruby Tuesday for the first time - and it surpassed my expectations. I went to the Elizabeth, NJ location near the Mills Mall, and I thought it would be just like Ihop or Denny's, but more expensive. To my surprise, the restaurant was modern and clean - it seemed newly renovated and unlike the old photos from many old reviews. And even though there were only 2 servers, our waitress was upfront about them being short-handed immediately - which many servers won't admit to - and was very nice throughout our visit. She also pointed out that the other server was her manager, whom I applaud for helping out. As for the deals, quite a few stood out: They had an unlimited salad bar addon for $6 Daily specials including Burger specials on Tuesdays for $7 $3-$6 Daily Drink Deals for wines and cocktails They also had an unlimited fountain drink option for around $4! I had the smashburger and the fish burger and both were great - the beef burger won though. The fries and tater tots were also very good and seasoned perfectly. Lastly, this Elizabeth NJ location is right across the street from The Mills Mall. So, it's a good option if the mall restaurants are packed or good deals are hard to find. Overall, I'm kind of upset that I didn't try out Ruby Tuesdays sooner. It's one the top of my list now when it comes to chain diners! read more

This is my first time ever at a Ruby Tuesday. I'll start first with the service. The first two people to greet us were really nice. I asked if we could sit at the bar area and they said "definitely". Place looks inviting, especially the bar area. This is where it went a little south. We found a table to sit and waited approximately 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. I thought about leaving, but the waiter that came apologized for the wait. He was very courteous and helpful. The food was pretty good. We had the American Smashed Burger and Crispy Chicken Tenders. Service still sucks. Wait is long to get a drink at the bar. Bartenders don't have a good flow. I sat for :15 with an empty glass and the female bartender looked at me and my empty glass at least 2 times with no recognition. Person sitting next to me (an elderly gentleman) had the same problem. If you're ever in a layover from Newark or a cancelled/delayed flight. Chances are the hotel will be in the Elizabeth town area which is close to the airport. There's a mall but close by there's an ihop and a Ruby Tuesday's. Now, it's been ages since I've stepped foot into one but have been here twice over the last few months. I had remembered our server from the first time Nehemi and had the pleasure of seeing him again today. He's wonderful, checks up on us timely, and tells is straight when it comes to the food. The food is surprisingly tasty and have had the chicken, ribs, and onion rings. Definitely would come back and they got a veggie burger for you veggies out there. Ther server and the person she was training was very short with her responses and rude. I asked the server for some ranch dressing to have with my fries. She said it was a dollar and I said ok. Some time went by and she never brought the dressing. I finally ask her "Do I need to get the ranch dressing myself from the bar" She responds back rudely "You can't go up there!" I let her know that I had asked for the ranch and you didnt bring it. She said when I told you it was a dollar you said you didn't want it. Then I told her no I said ok. We were told with every entree - you get a free kids meal and salad bar was free for them too- first run in- when asking about the salad bar- server said No it's not free -with attitude. Ok not a problem...when placing our order- one of the kids wanted to add the salad bar- she said I don't take that now- I take it at the end (but she never did). When two boys received their cokes- both said it tastes like Dr Pepper. I let the server know and her response was- it's coke- I poured it myself (with an attitude). Listen, all I can say is.. Our servers name was Yasin.. & his service was HORRIBLE!!!! I can't even type everything on here, so I added screenshots of my story Because trust me..... We've eaten at this Ruby Tuesday more than once. It's very close to the hotel where we stay when we are in Elizabeth plus our grandkids and their Dad really like coming here. Every time we've been here, we've gotten good service. This recent visit to the area, we had the same server both times we went. Nehemiah was his name and he did a great job plus we all liked his sense of humor. All that said, Ruby Tuesday's food is "A-Ok". One thing I do wish is that their portions weren't so big. I really don't need two pieces of chicken in my meal, one is just enough. Sometimes the veggie sides are better than the main course. Not that the main course is bad, it's more like it's nothing to write home about it. I finally figured out that the best way to have a light meal here is to order the salad bar and some soup. The salad bar has a decent selection plus a worker stands by waiting to refill items and wipe up any spills. That's what we had at our most recent meal here. I had broccoli and cheese soup while my husband had garden vegetable soup. His soup did smell delicious. They have some nice flavored lemonades. I had the raspberry lemonade and one day someone took the time to muddle some raspberries in it which amped up the flavor. Getting 2 salad bar and soup meals plus soft drinks cost almost $40. Still, it was cheaper than buying full meals. No doubt we'll eat here again next time we're in town. This last visit when Winter Storm Ezekiel caught us by surprise, it was really convenient to have this restaurant close to the hotel. It's also right across the street from Jersey Gardens for those who want a meal after a day of shopping. read more

So I had a coupon for a free appetizer so I stopped in. When I arrived I parked in their lot. I walked in and asked if I could sit at the bar, which I did. I was served by a great bartender named Mike. He was very nice and attentive. For my drink I orderd 2 happy hour drinks of the ruby relaxer and the margarita. 3.5 stars! This is a chain restaurant, so I set my expectations low before I even walked in the door. No wait or crowd on a Saturday night? Never a good sign but I ventured in anyway. The hostess greeted me soon as I walked in and showed me to my table. The booth was a little worn but I was expecting that based on the previous reviews. The waiter I had was great! He was very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure my dining experience was pleasurable. I had asked for my meal to be prepared a certain way due to a dietary restriction and the kitchen didn't disappoint! I also had a Ruby Relaxer which was very, very good. My experience here was not too bad considering all of the bad reviews. If I'm ever in the area again, I will consider returning to this restaurant.
