Alba Kitchen and Bath - The rendering Serenay put together for us after we sent her the dimensions and current kitchen pictures

    Alba Kitchen and Bath

    (2 reviews)

**Pictures to be updated next month Aug 2024 after our renovation fully wraps up**…read more For months, my sister and I were daunted by the thought of renovating our Cobble Hill, Brooklyn condo. One weekend, we visited various tile and fixture stores near our childhood hometown in NJ, scraping for motivation and inspiration. We walked into Alba Kitchen and Bath in East Hanover on a whim and were warmly greeted by Serenay. This one serendipitous meeting gave us the comfort and confidence to jumpstart our entire project! We are so grateful to Serenay and the whole team at Alba for our beautiful new kitchen!  Here are 3 reasons why working with Alba has been a wonderful experience and why I wholeheartedly recommend them.  1. Seasoned Kitchen Design Experts:  Serenay accounted for every inch of available space in our kitchen and produced multiple renderings (see pictures 3 and 4) showcasing different design configurations. For example, we have an awkward wooden beam which previously left a gap between the upper cabinets. She commissioned custom shallow cabinets, and turned both the top and bottom into usable cabinet space!! She also advised us on how we could maximize space inside our cabinets, such as getting rid of the lazy susan we originally had in our old corner cabinet. The renderings were super helpful in visualizing what the kitchen would look like. Our appliances also fit perfectly back in during reinstallation.  Serenay was also able to take the "inspiration" picture I sent her (see picture 5 - this is from Brittany Marom's 61 Rivington project) and turned it into reality. We chose thin shaker (Luna collection) Fabuwood upper cabinets in White Dove, lower cabinets in Kona, and Maharaja quartzite stone backsplash and counters. Maharaja quartzite is actually the stone we saw in the showroom kitchen countertop. We fell in love with the horizontal striations and after quite a bit of sleuthing, Serenay helped us track down its origin.   2. Clear Communication: Serenay was very direct and clear about what was included in scope (e.g., we would need to hire someone else to remove and reinstall appliances given their COI scope in NYC). She always answered our questions instead of dodging them using vague terms (we noticed a lot of contractors we spoke to, instead of getting into details, would just say things like "It will be great. It will look really nice" whereas Serenay would actually tell us *why* it would look great, *why* we might want to go with Fabuwood instead of other cabinet manufacturers, etc). Scheduling the measurements; cabinet delivery; cabinet installation; countertop installation; and followups were also a breeze. At our request, she also connected us with the stone yard so we could inspect a sample slab, and to meet the stone fabricator so we could preview where they were planning to make the cuts.   3. Fair and All-Inclusive Pricing: I googled Alba beforehand and was reassured by several blog posts/reviews that they get the best pricing on Fabuwood cabinets in NJ. From the start, Alba's quote also included the cost of materials and installation for both the cabinets and countertops, and it was very fair, especially for NYC. We were considering just refinishing our 2002-era cabinets to save money. Working with Alba allowed us to get brand new cabinets with all the bells and whistles, like soft-close and pull-out utensil cabinets.  Throughout this process, my sister and I felt so lucky that Alba is willing to do projects in NYC and not only NJ.  Since we are still mid-project with other renovations, I don't have the best pictures yet of the finished product. I will update this review with closeup pictures once we clear all the construction materials away. But in the meantime, do not hesitate to choose Alba and especially the wonderful Serenay. THANK YOU Alba Kitchen and Bath!!

Everything went smoothly and any questions I had, I would call Camille and she would take care of it. They also gave the best pricing on everything. We were quoted at four other establishments and they were by far the best price. We are so happy with our new kitchen and really happy we went with this company and a big thank you to Camille!

4/30/22 UPDATE After more months of being jerked around. Monday April 25th Ken called my husband…read more(not me) to schedule pickup of money owed to us for today Saturday. Not shocking, he told us NOT to come because the office was closed. WHY would you ask us to come pickup money if YOU KNEW the office would be closed? Making this nightmare worse. Included in this update is a screen shot of my message to him on Monday that led him to call my husband back after ignoring his calls. UPDATE: updates photos will show that Ken reached out & sent a contractor to my house to take measurements of the supposed counters we're supposed to finally be receiving. Upon talking to this contractor I learned that he had only received one payment for several jobs he's be contracted to do and had already finished, & let us know he will not be ordering the counter until he was paid. Fast forward to today April 8, 2022 NO COUNTERS & NO CONTACT WITH KEN. A couple days ago I learned that another contractor has not gotten paid for 6 other jobs he was contracted out by Ken to do. This guy is a scammer & I will be emailing every institution possible with all my (and other customers/contractors) evidence until this business is exposed to as many people as possible so he cannot scam anyone else again! I will not stop until he gives me my money back.

CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION - DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS OR KEN!…read more I am forced to give a one start rating because there is nothing LOWER. I signed a work order for kitchen cabinets on 6/22/2022 with a Ken from X W Kitchen and Bath, gave him a $2500 cash deposit and was promised delivery of kitchen cabinets in 2 weeks or by 7/6/2022. That never happened. He then promised delivery on 7/16/2022, never showed up, never answered our calls or text messages. On Monday 7/18/2022 he called to tell us the cabinets did not come in and he can get us other cabinets in 3 days. THAT WAS NOT TRUE. We demanded that he deliver the cabinets on Saturday 7/23/2022 or deliver our $2500 deposit. He asked for 2 more days, but again, he did not deliver as promised. Then again text on 7/25/2022 to "please give him 3 more days and he will deliver the cabinets or return the deposit". Three (3) more days passed and again no cabinets and no deposit. We have not heard from Ken since 7/25/2022, have not received kitchen cabinets or my cash deposit of $2500 even after reaching out numerous times. These horrible reviews are totally justified! RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY! We stopped believing anything Ken said. He is dishonest, unscrupulous a conman and scammer. He is no better than a common thief robbing people of their money and making them believe he will deliver. Never do business with Ken from XW Kitchen and Bath. We should join forces and close this business down, because he will continue to scam and rob other people as he did the rest of us.

I have been a home owner over sixty years and hired many contractors. As you know this can be a daunting task. But I found Monk's~! Rich Ressa, Monk's estimator arrived to assess the job and prepare the contract. He was pleasant and accommodating, answering all my questions and putting me at ease. He explained the process so I would know what to expect. On the start date he introduced me to Cristian and his crew. Their work ethic was so professional, no muss - no fuss~! When the job was completed (on-time) Rich returned to make sure I was pleased with the results. If you need a contractor- look no further than Monks!

Joe Corticada - our day to day lead - kept us up to date on progress and found creative ways to complete the project ahead of schedule (under 3 months). Amanda Cook helped us bring our design to life ensuring it balanced both aesthetics and function. Mike Drohan helped us spend our budget where it mattered most (custom door - still in love with it!), while balancing high quality lower cost windows. As someone who has gone through other remodels and acted as a pseudo GM, I can tell you I will never go back. This team delivered, did so as a team, and gave us a very high quality product that will produce memories for ages. Our little guy is already obsessed.

I first met with Devinn who measured and set plans in motion after carefully listening to what I wanted. He guided me throughout the process which was seamless. The work was done to perfection thanks to the professional and skillful work of the entire team, Devinn, Dean, Jimmy and Anthony. They were a pleasure to deal with, addressed any and all concerns and went above and beyond to make me happy with the outcome. They do quality work and operate with a high degree of integrity. Devinn Bua did the showroom and onsite consultation; Dean Bua and Jimmy did the renovations. This was a complete gutting, all sheetrock removed, soffits removed with plumbing relocated, doorway into dining room widened by 4', doorway into foyer widened by almost 1', new upper & lower cabinets & floor, all new electrical. Aside from some dings caused by the cabinet mftr's packing skills, the job went flawlessly. Dean is an absolute perfectionist (and ex cabinet maker) and will stay until his or his crew's work is to his standards. We'll be using them later this year to reno a bathroom as well.
