Came across East Coast Granite after a quick search on Yelp, and decided to give them a try based on all the positive reviews. We were previously working with a granite company through our kitchen cabinet wholesaler, and weren't too pleased with the selection, and when we did find one we liked, it was 2x the cost we were quoted. ECG's granite supplier had a much nicer selection, and were very friendly and pleasant to work with. Jacob and Mario were great - we were under a time constraint to get the job done before hosting Thanksgiving, and they made sure we didn't miss our deadline! He said to be patient. Months and months of giving me his word that he would take care of it, he now refuses to follow through on his promise. He told me he's too busy, and to hire someone else at my cost, to fix his mistake. A business is only as good as their word and how they respond and follow-up when there are issues. I found East Coast Granite on Yelp and all the reviews were great, so I called and spoke to Jacob, who quickly set up my estimate with Mario. The job was to replace my kitchen countertop, but I also have a 40- year old Onyx dining room table that was in desperate need of polishing, but since the table is quite old and extremely heavy, I was weary of putting it into "unknown" hands and sending it to a factory for refinishing. The table has only been moved 3 times in its lifetime, and it also has great sentimental value because my father built the table himself before I was born, and when he recently passed away, he left it to me, so needless to say, I am very protective of it. When Mario came for my kitchen estimate, he was more experienced and knowledgeable than I expected, plus he is so nice and professional, as is Jacob! When I showed Mario my dining table, he was impressed by the workmanship, he knew it was Onyx and how it needed to be polished, and he did not hesitate to say he could restore it, even thought it had multiple scratches, etchings, and chips along the edges. There's something about Mario that immediately puts you at ease, it is clear he knows his business, but he's also PASSIONATE about his work, and I think that's what clinched the deal for me. So along with my kitchen counters, I took the plunge with my dining table. Jacob was great at keeping me apprised of the progress and time frames, he really makes you feel like a valued customer. I had picked out my granite slabs from their wholesaler, and once we set the dates for my countertop, it was done in LESS THAN 24 HOURS! Mario came on a Monday morning to remove my old counter, and he came back the NEXT DAY, TUESDAY around 3pm, with my new granite countertop! I was stunned at the turnaround time, you just can't beat that!! The work was so clean, progressional, perfect measurements, no damage to my backsplash, if only ALL contractors were this meticulous! My dining table took longer, of course, but WOW, it was worth the wait! My 40 year old table looks BRAND NEW, it is spectacularly shiny, it reflects everything like a mirror! The pictures really don't do it justice - every scratch and chip is completely gone! Coming from someone who truly CHERISHES this table and was COMPLETELY TERRIFIED of putting it into stranger's hands, I cannot express how HAPPY I am and how East Coast EXCEEDED my expectations. My husband and I were redoing our kitchen with a whole sale cabinet place. They gave us the name of a company they work with but after reading the reviews for that place, I thought "no way" -- I refuse to work with a company that has multiple bad reviews when we are spending so much money on our remodel. We recently had East Coast granite do an installation for us. We got the on sale granite ($37 per sf) and even though our job was small, they did a wonderful, thorough job and it really brought the kitchen together. Very precise cuts and everything done just right. Also, they were one of the few workmen we've dealt with that were on time. From when we contacted them to completed installation I think it was about 1.5 weeks, definitely less than two weeks.
