The first company told us that the floors were too old & worn and that the only way we could refresh them was to rip out the original floors and replace them with modern panels. We mentioned how sad we were to lose our original floorboards to a friend and they suggested we reach out to Adam at Wood Vitalize. I'm glad we did! Adam came to the house and, immediately after saying hello, got down on his hands and knees to give them a close look. He helped us to pick an option that would protect the floors and give them some new life, without sanding off the character they'd gotten over the last 90 years. He also helped ensure the rose inlay in the original floors wouldn't get destroyed with his process (other flooring companies had told it was unsaveable). Wood Vitalize's quote for the work was reasonable and they even replaced a few floorboards that had gone rotten underneath the radiator without charge (thanks again!). They were able to do all the floors in our 3/2 townhouse in one day (arrived on time, stayed late until it was done). I'm very pleased with their work and owe our friend who referred them a big thank you! So I'm passing it forward. If you've got floors with history and you want to keep them don't let someone talk you into ripping them out until you talk to Adam!

I can't say enough about Buono's…read more I had heard good things about the company from other folks in my building, as well as on Yelp, and from the first moment I requested a quote through Yelp, Lou Buono was responsive, courteous, and an actual pleasure to communicate with. If you've worked with a lot of folks in the trades, this is very much the exception to the rule, and as such I was pleasantly surprised. Lou quickly got back to me with a very reasonable quote, and once we agreed on the details and a date, we were off and running. We had some damage and discoloration on our white oak floors, and we wanted to sand and refinish them. Lou was helpful as we got together the paperwork my building required to get it done. On the agreed upon day, his guys showed up on time, and while they weren't the excellent communicators that he is (their English wasn't great), they were conscientious and obviously knew what they were doing. Lou said the work would take 1-2 days, and they were done in just a day. We had a minor hiccup after the fact, but Lou immediately investigated the issue, and handled it well. Back then I decided not to do my bedroom or my kitchen but soon came to regret it. I recently decided my bedroom floors needed to be brought up to the same standard as the rest of my apartment. I was also sick of the ugly tile floors in my kitchen. Fast forward to a week ago when John's crew worked magic to upgrade the rest of my apartment floors (see pics attached). They did the same process I described above for my bedroom and added vinyl flooring to my kitchen. I highly recommend NYC Floor Pro and of all the contractors I've used during my current renovation, I was super pleased with the professionalism all around from dealing with John to working with his crew. I greatly appreciated how considerate and pleasant the crew was and appreciated how well they cleaned up after themselves (since I had painters coming in the next day). John was also super helpful in getting me all the documents I needed to submit a comprehensive alteration agreement that was approved quickly. Don't hesitate to go with these guys as I can attest my old floors (installed in 2017) still look brand new and everyone still compliments them.

It's how you deal with them that makes all the difference. If they had simply apologized and fixed their mistake, I wouldn't have to be writing this bad review.

When I bought a condo, Concrete Care removed the cheap vinyl that the previous owner had put on the…read morefloor and replaced it with a gorgeous concrete floor. The work took 7 work days for ~500 square feet, and the whole process took ~2.5 weeks from when I first messaged to when they finished. I messaged through Yelp on a Saturday, and Daniel called me back on the Monday. Jack came out to provide an estimate the next day, and he brought samples of polished concrete so I could pick a color. He gave me two quotes: one for removing the vinyl and just polishing and one for also pouring self-leveling concrete and polishing that. The estimates were competitive with quotes I had received from others, and he sent them through Quickbooks within hours of meeting. We decided that they would remove the existing floor first so we could get a sense of what just polishing that would look like. They also provided a COI promptly once we decided on this plan. Jack had a three-man crew come out the following Monday. They arrived everyday from 9 am to 9:15 am. Within an hour, they had ripped up the baseboards and vinyl floor. The concrete underneath had bubbles, large cracks, inconsistent coloring, and a large stain from previous water damage. The foreman, Alberto, suggested they just pour new concrete, and I agreed. We got Jack on the phone and went ahead with that plan. The crew did a great job putting up plastic to protect the walls and the limited furniture I had in the unit. They also put up plastic in the building hallways and carefully disposed of all debris. And 7 workdays later, the floor looks great! Would definitely call up Concrete Care again for any remodeling that fits their skills. For reference, the four photos are of (1) the living room before removing the vinyl, (2) the living room after removing the vinyl, (3) the completed living room, and (4) the concrete samples in the living room before the work.

I am crushed that I have to change my review. I checked with other craftsmen. Angel allowed for his…read morepeople to butcher my floors and explain it away. I learned later, with other craftsmen, that with correct tools and consideration of my desired outcome, it was not necessary to butcher my floors on their edges. This flooring company tore my floor up. I did try to go cheap so I went with them. I did not know that when we negotiated price, I negotiated away the sealant ti protect floors and allowance to butcher my floors. I was told back/forth 2/3 coats on floor. With/without sealant? Angel said 2 coats sealant. Soon dirt is well in the grains of wood. I know because I can see where a rectifying area was made with the sealant compared to everything that sticks with floor. I have question is it the @Bona #Bona product. My first rodeo. Fixing will cost me an entire 675 sq new floor. It aches my heart. I don't have that kind of money and I wanted a nice outcome. If I had been informed more, I would have work harder to have paid more instead to spend so much more now fix in a few years after I save to do it. Why are workers not honest?!!!! Please inform the consumer the cost of cutting price. I have regrets that will cost me now to redo and seal my floors, and more, if I want to resume my useable sq ftg because you ate it away to close the gaps you butchered. Please do not do this to another customer again. Just be honest even if you don't get the job. I am so hurt.
