We retained Troost Bros in 2016 for a complete kitchen remodel and the addition of a 1/2 bath in a foyer behind the kitchen. Additionally a significant update to supporting electrical service and plumbing was also necessary to accomplish the remodel. We found Jeff and Scott to be an excellent contracting team. Jeff handled the initial sales meeting and follow-up. He was very professional, informative and patient with all our questions and concerns. The estimate received was very detailed and very competitive with other contractors we had contacted. Once we chose Troost Brothers.for our remodel, they worked with our architect to secure all the Buildings Department approvals and permits and kept us informed about their estimated start date. When the job began, Scott worked closely with us to review the work done each day and plan for the next stage of work. Their on site team of workers were knowledgeable and easy to work with. While any demolition/rebuild contracting job is disruptive, we felt that the Troost Brothers and their team minimized the chaos. They were on top of the schedule and able to work around order delays and even an appliance return. They also made helpful suggestions about the installation based on their experience. They could also be counted on to follow up on any minor installation issues and manage any demolition/construction surprises. Their subcontractors, Ridge Electrical Contracting and Louis L. Buttermark & Sons Plumbing & Heating also provided a similarly high level of professionalism and friendly service. We were very pleased with the resulting kitchen and bath remodel and that satisfaction we believe is due mainly to the competence and professionalism of Jeff, Scott and their team. We also subsequently contracted with Troost Brothers in 2017 to install several replacement windows and were again very pleased with the work. I moved back upstairs this week after Troost Brothers renovated. Kitchen, bathroom, inside stairs, repairs, floors. Troost brothers previously did front door and a cement wall in the storage room. I have had the best experiences. First of all, my home looks gorgeous. High level of expertise from the workmen, who were gentlemen and showed up when they said they were going to. Scott was ringing my bell every morning to tell me who I could expect that day and what they were doing and show me the progress of the day before. There were people working here every day. There were no surprises with the estimate Jeff originally gave me for the time and cost of the job. The original estimate did grow, but it was because I couldn't help myself and added improvements once they were here. Issues came up like rotted pipes and flooring, and I was shown and the issues explained to me every step of the way. When people asked me how everything was going, I was able to tell them exactly what stage they were at and that all was going well. They expected me to be crazed and stressed out. What??? Really???? My home is 75 years old and for more than the 25 years I've lived here, I've had trouble with heat and air conditioning loss. I realized an important part of the solution would be to add doors between our vestibule and the main part of the house. It's a beautiful entrance, so I wanted glass panel doors, but the opening is an unusual size and custom doors are ridiculously pricy. Every few years I would get frustrated with the temperature loss and call in a contractor. They would take measurements and leave, telling me to call them when I get the doors. Finally, I found Jeff. He knew where to order the extra height, ten panel split French doors. He explained how he could build them to pull open in one simple gesture and helped me order the correct size hardware. Eight weeks later the doors were in. A day or two later Jeff called to ask if I was happy with the workmanship. I was, however, I admitted I made the wrong call on having the doors open in. Soon enough, he sent his carpenter back and pulling off my decorative molding for the second time, the doors were switched with surprisingly minimal prep work needed before painting. Of course I was charged for the few hours of labor to make the switch, but VERY fairly price. Terrific job! read more

After my husband died I decided to convert my ranch to a 6 over 6 two-family house. I needed a home improvement contractor that was honest and reliable since I did not know anything about building. I would give Troost Bros 6 stars if I could. Not only was the work was top-notch and a great value, but just as important were Jeff & Scott's people skills. I was something of a challenge for them; I kind of had an idea of what I wanted, but couldn't really find the right words to describe it. Imagine my surprise (and delight!) to see how they translated my babbling into an actual - and beautiful - part of the house. Their workers were all courteous, neat and very good at what they were doing; subcontractors were also very good. Scott came by just about every day to make sure things were on track, and talk me down from the edge when I was overwhelmed by the inevitable construction disruption. From the moment you sit down to discuss your requirements to the end of the project it is a professional and friendly encounter.
