Post Avocado toast
Kemi A.

I have been here maybe 2-3x now. I decided to get Avocado toast which i have had before. For some reason, while ordering online the "online order menu" is different than the posted menu on the website. My plan was to order the Diablo-Cado toast (I have had the K.O Smash before). These are the only 2 I saw on the posted menu. But when I got to the order portal, I chose "AVO-Beet Toast" not even realizing it wasn't what I intended to get. Just now, when trying to get the name off the menu did I realize I ordered something completely diff. Either it was very deeeeeelicious. The beets took it to A whole 'nother level. I ordered "to go" but I wanted to eat 1 before I hit the road. Mehn, I sat there in my car and finished the whole gat dang thing. I realized I should have prob taken a photo pre-meal. Oh well. Also ordered the Jimmy Sharky to wash all that down.

Weekend Pancakes (V) (FRI - SAT ONLY) *

People were very nice, you can either order inside or go around to the back where the garden is and order online via a QR code. Food came out quickly and was definitely delicious and different than what I normally had. Not your typical brunch spot. Definitely try the pancakes. Everything is gluten free and they take it seriously. We got the tacos, hash and chocolate chip pancakes that came with syrup and blueberry jam

Jump Shot

What a great looking establishment! I was so impressed at the layout! Even with some communal dining seating... it was nice! They definitely paid attention to detail.. there is also a cute little outside eating area, but probably not the best idea for us on this November day. I found this place by using good ol Yelp.. Top 10 gluten free options in the area where I was. Great reviews and not super pricey. My choices were the Noodz bowl with chicken satay and a side of avocado toast. The bowl was ok.. not a lot of flavor or sauce, but beautifully presented and very fresh. It had black bean noodles which was very filling! So much so, that I could only eat a fraction of the bowl! The avocado toast was very tasty and on a wonderfully delicious slick of thick, semi-sweet toast. Since I wasn't feeling well, I also ordered a "Jump Shot" which was apple cider vinegar, chili, turmeric, apple, garlic, etc. and was VERY potent. Maybe placebo effect, but it made me feel better! Service was friendly and food came out very fast. I shall return as the rest of the menu looked so interesting!!

The Explorer

I ordered the Explorer, which I've had twice before, but this time it was completely awful and inedible. The ingredients, quinoa, red cabbage, cucumber, did not taste or look like they had been prepared fresh. More like it was simply yanked out of the refrigerator and placed in a box swimming in an awful dressing. I subbed out the chicken satay for tofu, which they just cut into chunks and placed cold on top. At the very least they could treated the tofu like they would the chicken, skewered and grilled. They appeared to be short staffed on a Friday at lunchtime, but that doesn't justify serving customers inferior food. I'll have to think about returning and if I do, I won't order the explorer.

Strawberry thyme lemonade and a homey environment

Presentation really is the heart to your palate and this place is on point. The environment is very homey with open seating and a lot of natural light. Really nice organic vegan and non vegan options. I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious all the food tasted and looked. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which was delightful and a side of greek fries. Perfectly delectable to the last bite!

Everything was delicious!! I wish the desserts tasted less healthy, if you know what I mean, but were still tasty! I'd go back!

The front desk staff was professional and courteous. One young man was clearly in training, and the young woman guiding him was extremely knowledgeable and polite which to me was a great example of mentorship done right. Unfortunately, our original room had a heater that was rattling loudly and had pooled water on top of it, which I recorded and showed to the front desk. To their credit, maintenance responded quickly, and the technician was friendly, professional, and even helped move my luggage. He brought us keys to a new room, and the front desk upgraded us to the North Suite, which was an incredibly thoughtful gesture. The North Suite was fantastic with a large space with a massive balcony and beautiful views, along with a comfortable seating area outside. Sadly, due to the season, it was too cold to enjoy the balcony, but we appreciated the feature. That said, the suite wasn't perfect: The shower area was oddly dark, with little lighting. There was no air vent in the bathroom, which seemed unusual. The sink was smaller than the one in the standard suite. Neither of the two TVs worked, though I didn't want to complain during the stay and just mentioned it at checkout. The bathroom door didn't latch, which was a minor but noticeable issue. The smoke detector is missing from the ceiling, which gave me pause. Despite those flaws, the service and staff stood out. I witnessed two bar employees being rudely berated by guests over late food (which obviously wasn't their fault), and they handled the situation with professionalism and calm. I was so impressed by their professionalism under pressure (and so thoroughly disgusted by that table of senior citizens who should know better than to act that way) that I tipped each of them $50 each on top of our drink tab to make up for how poorly they were treated. Speaking of which, the bar area is a wonderful little spot, with friendly staff and the occasional live music, making it a fun place to unwind without leaving the hotel. The cocktails are excellent as well. This hotel has long been our go-to when in town, and while there were a few issues this time, the staff's attentiveness and care truly made the experience special. We're already looking forward to our return in 2026. TIP: Be mindful of where you park! The handicap parking is limited, and one of the spaces is under a tree that's heavily populated with birds. Our car was completely covered in bird droppings. I mean absolutely covered. Avoid that spot if you can.

I have to admit the North Suite has the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. The room service is…read morealways good. Note, their parking is limited and currently there is a construction site across the way, so if they have and event going on you may be SOOL. Plan accordingly.

I received friendly and lighthearted service from the man who took my order. One thing that I thought was pretty cool and have never seen before was a "color wheel" for coffee. It was a visual way to show your preferences on what your preferences are on coffee appearance once the milk is added. My chicken salad sandwich was delicious, not too filling and made on very soft enjoyable bread. Room for improvement: Maybe because I stopped in at 1 pm on a Wednesday I felt like the seating area was poorly maintained. The floor really needed to be swept so it actually felt like of dirty sitting there eatting. There were a handful of people spread out with their laptops etc. One person was actively taking a call so it felt like you at work with them. Another had a small dog that she was carrying around people eatting while the leash/harness laid on the floor near her table. I'm all for dogs being allowed to be in eateries but the whole sit in experience felt dirty for me (especially based on the price I paid) and wouldn't be something I'd repeat. Long story short, the customer service while ordering is great but take your order to go.

The halibut caught my eye immediately; I'm a sucker for a perfectly prepared piece of halibut or a great pork chop, and since my partner doesn't eat meat it made for an easy share. Earlier in the day, a couple of women at our hotel bar mentioned the chef had trained at Jean-Georges in Manhattan, which only added to our anticipation. It wasn't until we got back to the hotel after dinner and did a little reading that we learned just how decorated Harary really is; his Restaurant Nicholas held Zagat's top spot in New Jersey for 15 consecutive years and earned a 4-star New York Times review. That context made our middling meal sting just a little more. We started with the bread service and the beet salad. The bread itself was baked beautifully, but the butter and ricotta accompanying it were completely flavorless. My partner and I are not salt-at-the-table people; we trust that seasoning happened in the kitchen. This was the first time in recent memory that we actually reached for the salt shaker. Not a great sign. The beet salad should have been a showstopper. Beets, when done right, can carry an entire dish on their own. Instead, they were buried under an avalanche of arugula. Don't get me wrong, arugula is one of my favorite greens; that peppery bite and beautiful texture are hard to beat, but here it was doing all the heavy lifting while the beets sat underneath doing nothing. We'd eaten most of the salad before we even noticed the sunflower seeds and a smear of mascarpone hiding on the bottom of the bowl. That mascarpone, gently flaked on top with the seeds scattered over it to catch in the folds, could have made this dish genuinely memorable. The gorgeous candy-striped radishes were a lovely visual touch, but they were raw, undressed slices with no seasoning, no acid, no pickling. Beautiful to look at; an afterthought to eat. The whole salad felt that way, honestly. For our main, we shared the Panko Crusted Halibut with bok choy and smoked shallot velouté. The sauce was the star; the smoke level was dialed in perfectly, present in all the right ways without overpowering everything else. The wild mushrooms were lovely, but the dish needed something to break up the texture. The bok choy brought good flavor, but it mirrored the mushrooms so closely that each bite started to blur together. Something crispy, something sharp, would have elevated the whole thing considerably. The fish itself was cooked well; firm, flakey, and not dried out. The panko crust was gorgeous to look at but could have been crispier. Based on its beautiful golden color, it looked like it had more crunch than it actually delivered. The cocktails were a genuine highlight. An old fashioned made with 1792 and a Black Manhattan, both well-crafted and the clearest bright spots of the evening. The three people behind the bar were another highlight. Expedient, attentive, never rushing anyone, and willing to make easy conversation without being intrusive. That is exactly what you want from people working a good bar. The ambiance, though, was confusing. The space seemed to pull in two directions at once; it wanted to feel upscale but also like a sports bar, and it never fully committed to either. Three small TVs tucked into the corners would have been fine. The oversized screen mounted prominently on the wall was intrusive and clashed hard with any sense of elevated dining. The music was classic rock, which I enjoy, but it read as wrong for the room and was a tad too loud. The music for this type of setting should be something to just add some ambiance, not for people to shout-sing too like you've had too many beers at a dive karaoke bar, which I love by the way, this was just not that kind of place. Those same women from the hotel bar had also warned us it could get loud and obnoxious in there. We figured we'd take our chances. We probably should have listened. With the legacy behind this place, the potential is clearly there. The bar staff gets it. Now the kitchen and the room just need to catch up.
