"Japanese" restaurant on Broadway, a block W of the Broadway Plaza complex. Parking here is available but severely limited. Try the side streets. The place looks pretty plain and dated. Staff all speak Vietnamese. In other words, expect inauthentic sushi at a good price. They have lunch specials, but I went for bento box E. Tuna maki, assorted sashimi, salmon teriyaki, and salad. Portion size was a wee bit small. The bigger problem was that the assorted sashimi wasn't exactly fresh. The ebi (prawn) and hokkigai were crumbling. Knock 1 star off. Nothing tasted stale though. The rest of the stuff tasted decent. I'd put this place a small step below Hiro (Hastings + Boundary) in terms of quality and quantity. With that said, the food is reasonably priced, which is nice. Maybe I'll try a lunch combo next time. read more

Food: 2/3 Service: 1/1 Ambiance: 1/1 Very solid food at reasonable prices with many options. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Honestly nothing bad to say. It's very run-of-the-mill and is just a very solid option if you're looking for Japanese food. If I was in the area and wanting some sushi or a bento box I'd come here again. read more

Good value for the area and one of the few places open at 10:30am. The bento box I had was filling and not bad. Great place to grab a quick lunch or super early morning breakfast. read more

Kisokoma - Salmon bento box - Japanese Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

One line review: This was sushi of convenience -- good enough. I had an optometry appointment nearby and before taking the bus back to my office, I stopped off for a bit of lunch. Kisokoma has decent prices and many options. I ordered the sushi combo C -- 1 Tuna, 1 Salmon, 1 Ebi, 1 Ika, 1 Scallop, 1 Tobiko nigiri, Tuna maki. It came with miso soup. Lots of food at this price point, and while adequate, it was not memorable. Didn't park as I was taking the bus, but I believe parking is available on Broadway at meters. Bottom line: I'd give it another try if I were in the area, but I won't be rushing back. read more

A clean, quaint little Japanese restaurant tucked away along Broadway. Catching up with long, lost dear friends from years ago. We were able to visit without getting interrupted. Although it was quite busy during lunch hour, it seemed like we had the restaurant to ourselves. We had refreshing tea to start with. We all got a bento box which had a generous helping of food. I had the Chicken Teriyaki on rice, and substituted a California Roll for a Dynamite roll, Prawn and Vegetable Tempura. A small serving of miso soup was also a part of this serving. This meal was delicious and I would definitely try it again. The staff were friendly and respectful. Nice place to make a nice memory to look back on. read more

Kisokoma - Long lost friends and a wonderful visit with the best sushi at Kisokoma - Japanese Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Ordered there multiple times through Uber Eats and it will be the last order when half my order was missed . When I called them, no apologies, said come and get it because they're to busy.. well I also run a business and can't leave anytime I want and that's why we order through Uber, door dash, skip the dishes. Never will I buy from this restaurant again read more

Came here while I was with my grandma, mom & uncle. It's a pretty good place; fair prices. I got C14; which came with BC Roll & chicken karaage. It was $9.95 which is not that bad. For a small restaurant, the food here is real good. Only one problem; the guy who works here seems a bit snobby. Doesn't really talk, when he took our orders he seemed like he was rushing... Even though there was only 2 other people in the restaurant other than us. I would definitely come back here again in the future & would recommend trying this place out :) read more

Kisokoma - Lunch Combination: C14 (BC Roll & Chicken Karaage) - Japanese Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Now I understand why I heard a Japanese person say there is no good sushi in Vancouver. Almost all of the fish on my bento box was too nasty and old to be edible, and nothing else was tasty. Even the miso soup tasted tired. This is definitely not an authentic Japanese place, and I definitely won't be coming back. read more

Kisokoma - I'm hungry and I absolutely hate wasting food - especially fish - but this is all inedible. So sad! - Japanese Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

A pretty good Japanese restaurant that's a bit hidden. I ordered a lunch special and a side of squid while my friend ordered some sashimi. The food seemed quite fresh although the portions were a bit smaller for the price. However the server that helped us barley spoke to us at all. He only said "K" after I paid. I would return. read more

Three colleagues went to lunch at Kisokoma today. We all three had digestive adventures afterwards. There is a reason, alas, that this is some of the cheapest Japanese food in Vancouver. I implore any readers I may have to order only well-cooked food--ideally deep-fried--at Kisokoma. read more

Giving it 5 stars for good sushi at low prices! I had dinner here by myself and there were 2 other people that came to have dinner by themselves. Apparently, it's a good place to have dinner by yourself, but I'm sure it's also good for people with friends. The staff is very nice and friendly. The menu is pretty extensive offering many different kinds of dishes including appetizers, soup, sashimi, maki, noodles, teriyaki, and ice cream. They also had a list of lunch specials for $8 that comes with miso soup and rice. I had a tuna and salmon don (raw fish over rice), which came with plenty of rice and 6 thick cuts of fish for only $9! The tuna was very red in color and the salmon was pink, which is very different from the color of fish in Chicago, but still tasted fresh and delicious. They also serve beer, wine and sake. $3.75 for a small hot sake, what a deal! Location: Small plaza in front of a tall building, just minutes from Holiday Inn. read more

On this particular days I struck out twice. I came here after a failed meal at the vegan place across the street. I was close to being full but needed something extra. Spotted this place and decided wtf yolo. Next time, I'll tell myself to wtf outta there. It was not busy. Nothing on the menu grabbed me so i had the seafood salad. The picture is deceiving. It looks like a normal size salad with sashimi but in reality, it's like a teacup saucer plate. The fish was fishy. I left. read more

Certainly for this area and the value, one can't complain other than it's not authentic Japanese owned, but hey, this is vancouver. Still, their special maki roll, the prawn tempura roll w/ avocado was pretty good, as well as the gyozas, all under $15 including tax for lunch. Pretty spacious, and nice that it has patio seating for all the action during the office/medical crowd here. There is underground parkade but it's a dungeon, better on the side streets. I'l return but it's not an urgent trip. read more

Services the businesses nearby with its punch cards, so unless I work here and need a quick meal, I think I'd skip. Ambiance: Small strip mall type restaurant. A little cluttered feeling with one wall covered in in the menu and another partially covered with the menu. Not only do you see part of the kitchen, but their pantry items are also in full view. Service: Very good, here they shine - very nice waitress taking orders and doling out tea Food: I ordered the bento - they have several choices ~$11-12. Mine came with tempura shrimp/veggies (good, but a little on the oily side), California roll - rice was a bit mushy and lacked flavor, beef teriyaki - bland and pale, salad - this was average, and 1 orange slice. I skipped on the free miso soup. The portion size was ample. Recommendation: I think there are other Japanese places I'd try before coming back here again. read more

This is a basic restaurant but the plates are of a decent size. They are also well priced. The sashimi is fresh. The bento boxes are value for money. The food taste ok. This is definitely not up Market, but a place to fill up with pretty decent food when hungry. read more

The value's there, but I just don't think it's worth it for such mediocre rolls. I picked up some maki and there was way too much rice and the rice was fairly uneven. Their yaki-udon was on the bland side. Sushi Dragon, Ro Sushi and Ebisu are just a block east and they are all a (small) tier above Kisokoma for only marginally more. read more

We were starving the other day, in the neighbourhood and stumbled on Kisokoma. There was literally one other table sat so we were initially slightly leery but the food and service were both more than we'd bargained for. We got to sit outside in their little patio area and basked in the sun while sipping our Sapporo's so Kisokoma was already off to a good start. Our server was friendly and efficient and was quick to show us the New/Special rolls which happened to be amazing, The Garden and Forest rolls were favs of ours and the Rainbow roll always a favourite was really well done. Overall the food was REALLY GOOD, the rolls were some of the best I've tasted in a while with generous portions of all fish. The Spicy salmon sashimi wasn't the best I'd tried but then again the prices are extremely economical so I couldn't really expect them to be. All in all we were extremely happy with our food. In areas where portions are sometimes issues like wakame salad we found Kisokoma to be generous. I will definitely stop back at Kisokoma next time I'm in the 'hood. Great... now I'm craving Sapporo on a patio, off to rectify that :) read more

Kisokoma - Red roll. Pretty good for its price. - Japanese Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

This place has been book marked since June 1st. I finally got to come here. It was quiet when we came in before the lunch rush. I got my usual avocado sushi and veggie sushi no mayo. Because I had some extra "treat" calories for the day I got some yam tempura to share. Service was fast and the rolls were pact tight. The prices are consistent with other places. read more

**3.5 stars** It didn't leave much of an impression the first couple of times I came here. I mean it was ok, food was a solid 3 stars and service was quick which is what I want at lunchtime. But this last time I came, it was off-peak hours and I ordered more than I usually do, which perhaps led me to discover a few yummy items. Negitoro roll - really good. I can't believe it's under $3. Spider roll - it was only 5 or 6 pieces but amazing value. I don't think I've seen soft shell crab rolls at that price ever. Spicy tuna sashimi - left me wanting a bit, the tuna wasn't as flavourful or buttery as it could be. Mexican roll - not sure what makes it Mexican, but it had good heat and I like that they use wild salmon in their rolls. They also have a few outdoor tables which is nice but they could do so much more with their patio space. All in all, a solid neighbourhood sushi joint. read more

This place for me is really a 2.5 stars. I was in the area and wanted some sushi for lunch. I looked up on yelp and found this place. Food: It's okay. Good value for your money on some stuff. The salmon sash was good. I also got the tempura udon and the broth was pretty much devoid of any flavour but you do get two prawn tempura along with 3 pieces of veggie tempura. The spicy salmon sushi had way too much rice and very little fish in it. Service: I did go at lunch time and since there are quite a number of offices and medical building around it, it did get little bit busy. Given that, I can understand that service can sometimes slide but I had to ask couple of times for a bowl so I could share my udon with my toddler. I love it when I go to a restaurant and they just know to give me an extra bowl with a fork when they see that I have my little man with me. I probably would skip Kisokoma and try Ebisu next time. Maybe I will have a better food and experience there. read more

This place has reasonable, delicious sushi in the Fairview slopes neighbourhood of Vancouver. Everything seems fresh every time I go there and the servers are friendly and always in a good mood. The specialty rolls are my favourite and the sashimi never tastes frozen. I am giving this 5 stars because I frequently dine here and they consistently deliver. Also it's great sushi that is affordable. read more

Ate here because some colleagues were eating here. Karaage tasted stale, and was mainly bony wing tips, so not a value for the $3.50 price. The combo/lunch consisted of dry, stale chicken smothered in a thick, overly-sweet teriyaki sauce. The salmon rolls were mainly chewy old skins which would have been put to better use as a purse or shoes. The nori was gooey. Did not finish the meal and am left wondering why my colleagues eat here. Two stars because the servers were sweet and earnest during a busy lunch time. Convenient location, but next time will cross the street and munch at Vivanty's. Not sushi, but tasty, fresh food! read more

Kisokoma is great for a quick bite and affordable lunch options on Broadway. It's not the best sushi and not the freshest sashimi. Prices are quite cheap and affordable with many lunch options and bento boxes for around $10 and under. read more

I really like the service here. Friendly and available. I was also really excited that the maki was cut into 8 pieces rather than 6, meaning I was able to actually fit the pieces in my mouth and chew without covering my mouth with my hand. A really awesome touch if you're having a meeting. Finally, the cleanliness of the establishment is better than average. read more

couldn't find this place on any of the social sites so i've added it to Yelp and Gowalla. when i asked the waiter how long the restaurant had been there he said ten (10) years!! we stopped here for lunch and had very good service, very good food and all at a very reasonable price. the food was ready quickly and was just to my liking. example: we ordered some tempura and the veggies were still nice and crisp as though they were cut after we ordered and not soggy from being in the frier too long. i will definitely put this on my regular rotation of sushi restaurants. read more

Not sure if there are new owners or what is going on. This place has always had fairly mediocre but still alright sushi and acceptable service. But today I received only half my order, after the server seemed to be confused about items that were on the menu itself, and then no contact for more tea or a check-in after my food arrived. The food itself was alright but the sushi fell apart. Disappointed. read more

Great food. Not a fancy place but friendly folks and authentic Japanese food (good saki too)

Been back here more than once in the last week. Love their BBQed salmon belly... it's marinated in a sweet teriyaki sauce and served with a lime wedge that just takes it over the top. The maki is made with a bit too much rice, but overlooking that, it's a great value for what you get. They also only serve wild caught salmon from what I understand, and thats a definite plus. Hubby didn't mind running in to grab some take out. They also do free delivery on $30 or more.. and it's pretty easy to hit that mark. Their 2 for $5.95 maki rolls are worth it and I am in love with their sweet potato /yam rolls. read more

Stay away from this restaurant. We paid $37.53 after tips and tax for Love Boat 2. 1. Sub-par quality sushi. The fish was not fresh and was warm. 2. Nigiri had way too much rice 3. The picture of Love Boat 2 posted on the wall did not look anything like what we got. 4. There were missing pieces of sashimi and it wasn't until we pointed that out, they brought out the missing pieces. Even then, there were still missing pieces but we didn't bother to argue with them 5. Overpriced 6. For $40, we expect to be full. We were not. read more

I love picking up lunch from here. Affordable, delicious and fast. I never have to wait that long.

I came here for takeout on my break on a Stat holiday because it was the only sushi restaurant open near the hospital. It's operated by Vietnamese people & from my previous experiences with Vietnamese-sushi restaurants they're not the best when it comes to cleanliness. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because whey have good reviews. I know this place gets super busy during lunch on weekdays so I thought I'd give it a try. Good - menu offers a variety of special rolls, bento boxes, & party trays. The prices are decent & you get a lot for what you pay for. Bad - the chef kept talking, shouting, & joking with his colleagues while making my order. I was the only customer & there were 4 guys just hanging around the sushi bar chatting. It should be common sense to practice hygienic manners infront of a customer gawking at you handling her food??? I was disgusted & I don't think I'll be back. The rolls were cut in different sizes & the tempura was over-fried & hard to bite into. The rolls had too much rice & the filling were rather dry. I personally don't like rolls that are awkwardly too big to eat. I wish Minato was opened on holidays because that's where I usually go for real quality sushi. read more
