Amazing! My 3rd refill this summer and I cannot get enough. Vanessa took away some longer lashes this time around down to 20 something and then bumped it back up to 100 in less than 60 mins for both eyes. Vanessa really cares about the quality of her business and it's fun to pass the time with her. Her technique is great and I understand she is passing down this technique to several quality people. The price is high but it is worth it - the technique, quality of the eyelash product and the friendly service. You totally get value for what you pay for. Bonus: the AC is cranked up nice and cool despite being a scorcher outside. You can feel free to fall asleep and get some relief from the heat while getting all prettied up. Today is my second time to try the Kinjou lashes with Groupon. It was really DISAPPOINTING. After Izumi was done with my lashes, I feel it's totally different than the last time. I went with my friend last time. They somehow mixed up the file or name with my friend. She did something dramatic (with U curve and Cateye) and I did something natural with (C curve and CUTE). So this time I had the U curve and Cateye which clearly not what I wanted. This is not the worst part. The WORST PART is they keep denying their mistake. They said no way they made mistakes like that. Izumi said she doesn't remember me at all and never had me as a customer. You had hundreds of customers, and it was long time ago, of course you don't remember me. As the customer, I remember you were my technician clearly.  However, I confirmed with my friend, as we remembered, I had with a Japanese technician and she had a mandarin speaker technician. I also checked the file under my friend's name it was C curve and Cute as Izumi did for me last time. They should apologize for their mistakes. Instead, they said you can come again for your refill next time I will do the C curve for me. Later at night, they called my again offering to redo the lashes tomorrow. I really love this place. I've gone here a long time and the quality and price is unmatched. I particularly love how gentle the technicians are; no other place is so consistent at not hurting me by pulling lashes accidentally or putting tape too close to inner eyelid. Quality of lashes is also good (standard synthetic); that being said they do hurt to get into your eyes especially the thicker lashes (1.0). They only hire really, really qualified people which I love. The only things I can complain about: difficult to schedule due to rigid times. If you have any issues with your lashes it's extremely hard for them to schedule in corrections. They don't respond to email or voicemail but they'll help you if you call! My biggest complaint: please play more neutral music. Some of the music played (like screechy nasally covers of songs) are so horrible its literally made me consider going somewhere new after being here years - it's that bad!! I must admit: I'm almost reluctant to write a review because I kind of wanna keep Kinjou my little secret because they are so AWESOME!!!!! But to thank the girls for taking care of me over the past few years, I decided to write an EPIC review for them. After trying lash extension places around Vancouver (Wink, Noir, etc--which are actually more expensive but not better), I committed to Kinjou. I'm one of their oldest clients as I discovered them when they first opened and have not stopped going ever since. My dream has always been this: I want to wake up looking gorgeous everyday! Really. Not too much to ask for, right? Thanks to Kinjou Lashes, my dream has now come true. I wake up looking gorgeous everyday (cue Disney princess music). Seriously. After I got lash extensions, I stopped using eye make-up! No need for eye liner, no need for mascara,... I literally don't use ANY eye make up because I don't need any!! It feels really liberating actually. I'm an actress but even when I go to auditions I don't wear eye make up. The biggest test was when I worked on set--the lash extensions looked so good that I actually persuaded the make-up artist to not put any mascara on me and she agreed that I wouldn't need any!! 1. Lash Extensions vs. Fake Lashes: I used to wear fake lashes, but it was a lot of trouble, wasted my time everyday, and gave me eye infections. :( Also, even if you are a fake lash pro (I was one), you still feel it on your eye lids or lashes. With lash extensions you barely feel anything. It feels cleaner. 2. Professionalism: I was/am very impressed by the owner Vanessa's dedication to providing the highest quality. With other places I went to, I could feel that sometimes the lashes touch my eyelids, which would block the pores, which is bad. Vanessa (the owner) and her girls are very meticulous about making sure that the lash extensions are attached to your lashes and do NOT touch your skin, thus allowing the pores to breathe properly. Honestly, before going to Kinjou I didn't even think about this point, but it makes total sense! Vanessa finds the highest quality products and often educates us about proper lash care knowledge, hygiene, etc. She cares a lot about the "health" of the lashes and makes sure that her clients are aware and well-informed about it. 3. Natural-looking I think what I love the most about them is that the lashes look really natural. Seriously they treat it as a work of art. I have "graduated" from 60 lashes per eye to 110 lashes per eye. I also choose curvier lashes. In the beginning, I was worried that it would look too dramatic and would look fake for my Asian features, but wow these girls have never failed in making them look natural. I get complimented on my lashes all the time! Friends/strangers often say, "Your lashes are so beautiful/gorgeous, etc." Then when I tell people they are extensions they are often surprised, "they look so real!" Strangers would ask me all the time if my lashes are real (and this is usually followed by the question, "tell me where you get them done!"). Once I was dining at Hapa Izakaya and even the waitress had to stop to ask me if my lashes are real, and then had to scribble down Kinjou's name. 4. Comfort The girls are good at what they do and it's always so comfortable. I actually fall asleep throughout the whole session 80% of the time I'm there! I've been asked, "doesn't that waste a lot of time (to spend an hr every 2 weeks to get refills)?" My answer is--NO. It's my rejuvenation relaxation time! Because I fall asleep almost every time and I get a beauty nap. My friends are surprised because they imagine the technician with sharp tools poking at your eyes. I get asked if it hurts or not, because I guess people imagine their eye lashes being pulled or something. But honestly, the girls are so gentle with what they do it doesn't hurt at all! There's barely any discomfort. Every time when it's time to go get my refill I usually jokingly tell my guy that, "It's my beauty nap time!" lol 5. Regarding booking & their high standard (and regarding that one person who left a one star review because it was hard for her to get an appointment on weekends) Yes... yes, it's hard to book. Because they are GOOD at what they do. There are always two sides to the coin. They are difficult to book because Vanessa has high standards for technicians she hires--that should be a good thing. It's your eyes we are talking about. We want well-trained technicians. There are actually salons that would let technicians-in-training do customers! But they would never do that here... that's why they have to expand their team slowly. Trust me I understand the frustration when you can't get an appointment. I booked an appointment on Jan. 15 for the Gold service. The staff was nice and polite, and a Japanese lady did my lashes for about an hour and a half. The glue she used had an incredibly unpleasant smell; whether this is normal or not I don't know. What confused me was that the lady used "length 11" lashes on the inside corners of my eyes - the same length as the lashes across the rest of the eyes. Shouldn't the lashes on the inside corners be shorter to give a more natural look? Anyway, the result was mediocre. I paid around $140 in total. When paying, the lady asked if I wanted to book my next appointment, pointing out that a discount was available should I book within two weeks. I found this method of upselling very distasteful. I made no indication that I liked the service, and the "push" was very unwelcome and unprofessional. The worst part was that the lashes began falling off very early, beginning the first day! One and a half week later, the extensions have completely fallen off. I have had eyelash extensions done numerous times at different places and they have never come off so quickly; not even close. I recommend skipping this place, or at least that particular stylist. I've since had my lashes done again from a stylist running her own business from her home. Way better. To the previous reviewer who complained about not taking new clients on weekends: Yeah I know it 's sorta strange that it's so hard to book an appointment there. Reasons for that are: 1. Pretty much all their clienteles returns every 2 weeks for refills. Everyone usually books almost 2-4 weeks ahead of time. The reason for that is because they have a deal where if you return every 2 weeks for refill, they fill it right back up to the original amount for the refill price (40 bux). For example, if you get 100 lashes the first time, they'll fill it back up to 100. As long as you return almost exactly 2 weeks. If it's past 2 weeks, they will only fill 20 lashes for refill price. Everyone wants to get their 40 bux worth, so they book appointments WAY ahead of time to make sure they get a spot every 2 weeks. 2. They only have a small number of technicians, and they're always fully booked. It's difficult for them to train new technicians cause it takes months of coaching before they get to work on customers. The owner Vanessa, uses a specific technique and she don't want her clients to receive half assed quality work done on them. I've been to 3 other lash lounge in Vancouver, including Noir and Wink, and none of them are nearly as good as Kinjou. Noir has too many technicians and they get thrown on the floor be4 they're even properly trained. I've been a client at Kinjou for almost 2 years, and I just can't picture myself going to anywhere else again. I like that they have different type of curves you could choose from that could help make them stand out. My lashes are naturally straight, so I usually ask for the C curves. But if you want more intense curls, they have them too. So if you're a new client there, be prepare to make appointments maybe a month ahead of time. Sorry your experience on the phone didn't go well, but if you're a lash lover like me, I'm sure you'll like the results if you give them another chance. read more

I read some reviews on Yelp and thought I would give this place a try. I tried to book an appointment for the weekend to get eye lash extensions and first, the lady on the phone wasn't very nice.. she said that they don't take any new clients on weekends and only returning customers and if I wanted an appointment, the only thing she had available was middle of the day during the weekdays?? Do they only take people who don't work for a living? I have never heard of any store not taking in new clients on the weekends at all. CRAZY. She called and made an appointment, she told the lady on the phone that we are only staying in Vancouver for the weekend so she booked us in right away. First of all, it's a great location. By getting the directions to the place I see sky train station is only 2 blocks away and it's right off Broadway. But we drove there and was worry about finding a parking spot. However, one block away there is a public park with FREE curb side parking. While I was waiting for my wife, I realize there is a bus stop right in front of the shop. The place is very cozy and clean. They were able to work on my wife's Lashes extension right away. I do not know anything about lash extensions..and didn't wait there the whole time.. but this is based on what my wife saidd. "She's got mad skills! The lady was able to appy 10 eye lashes extension per min!!" Actually I don't remember the # my wife told me.. But it was fast. And not just the speed, she actually did an amazing job.. I don't think eye lashes extension was too common in US and Canada, but my wife had them done in TAiwan before. She was amazed with the skills this place provided. And I do too.... Honestly THE BEST lash studio in Vancouver! I have been going for 2 years and have never had any issues. All the staff is very well trained and very courteous. They always remember your name when you walk in, very friendly atmosphere. When I first started a couple different people told me that eyelash extensions will wreck my own eyelashes, so I took a break after the first full 6 months. My eyelashes were actually HEALTHIER. They looked shorter compared to the fabulous extensions, but my real eyelashes were totally fine! I started going back the next month and haven't stopped since. I have a 2 year old toddler and I find that it saves me SO MUCH TIME getting ready. I love having my lashes and don't plan on stopping any time soon! I got the mink 11mm j curve 100 lashes Cat eye placement with Kokoro with the groupon deal and I'm in love with how it turned out. Been to Crest and Crown, Noir, and AOI before and Kinjou is definitely my favourite by far. In the past when I got extensions I always felt that it looked "too much" and I can't wait for some lashes to fall off. But this time it feels so light and looks so natural. Great place! First time trying out the extensions here and I will definitely be back. Don't let the negative "reviews" hold you back from trying Kinjou. My eyelashes look/feel amazing! Not only was the tech quick, the application was perfect. The seats they have available are way more comfy then the traditional salon beds. I got the premium package, 160 lashes. It looks nice but I personally prefer it to be a bit thicker. I would recommend getting the 6d lashes, they make a huge difference in the appearance of lashes. I have been coming to Kinjou for over a year. Getting lash extensions has really changed my lifestyle. I'm always on the go and also live a very active lifestyle, and it really helps to not have to wear make up and deal with running eyeliner and mascara on a daily basis and still look great. Kinjou uses the most progressive methods and the lashes are so comfortable that it feels like my own lashes. I've tried other places and the lashes don't last long and also the glue that is used is toxic smelling and ends up irritating my eyes. I've never had that experience at Kinjou. I'm lucky enough at Kinjou to have never even experienced bloodshot eyes at all through all my experiences with them even though it a common thing that happens for a few hours after an appointment. I love how natural the lashes look but yet it can still be dramatic, leaving people wondering if your lashes are real or not. I lost count of the number of people who have asked me about my lashes in the last year. I've recommended many people to Kinjou and they are happy and regular customers now. Most importantly, the quality service at Kinjou is amazing. There are times that I wanted a touch up, or my lashes were falling out and the technicians offered to fix it , free of cost. There is always discussion about what curves are best for my eyes and everything is stored in a database so that no matter which technician you get , the data and notes are there. You don't have to explain yourself. The space is calming and clean, a perfect place to rest comfortably while you get your lashes done. I would definitely recommend Kinjou! Never had such a scary experience getting my lashes done. Initially requested an appointment with Linh due to all the good reviews, but got a different technician, who they assured was just as good, but was obviously still under training. She couldn't speak English so we had to get a translator between us, which wasn't a big deal but was still difficult to communicate. I had a lash lift a month before that and I made sure to email them before hand to make sure that there wouldn't be any problems regarding that. Halfway through my session, they told me that the lashes weren't holding because of the lash lift. I was fairly annoyed because I felt like they should have told me that initially, rather than halfway throughout the session. They still charged me full price for the service, and yes, half my lashes are gone after 1 week. Usually at other salons if they give you someone who's still training, they charge you less than the full price. The worst part of the experience was when the technician was pulling out the tape underneath my eye. They used a really strong glue, and it was sticking to my eyelashes. It was extremely painful when she was trying to pull it off and when my eyes started to tear she kept telling me to stop crying..! Like I could help it! I've gotten lash extensions many times in the past and have never actually spent the time to review any salons, but I felt like this experience deserved its own review. read more

I'm writing the review for their second location on Kingsway . It was a bad experience. I gave two stars just because the girls were all very nice. It was soothing but sadly... not up to expectation. First of all, The location was hidden inside another store. There was some sort of commotion going on at that store while my eyes were taped down and lying there. That was scary. The staff was courteous but the result was very uncomfortable. The eyelashes extensions were dropping down and obscuring my eyesights. They were messy and misaligned. Because they were drooping down, The glare from the fake lashes were also giving me a headache. After it was just done, I figure it was because my eyes were dry so it was uncomfortable. But it just gets worse and worse it's as if you constantly have something in your eyes. My eyes were watering up and I could barely keep them open. I had eyelashes extensions done before at three different places since I started five years ago and I was never uncomfortable ..... Never mind all that, the worst is that when I tried calling them during business hours to get help, nobody answered the calls for hours and hours. I was literally in pain so I called their main broadway location. They were courteous as well but they only gave me twenty five minutes to find my way from Burnaby to Vancouver and that was the only opportunity to save my eyesights .... so I took a taxi And it costed me 30 dollar. And also I had to take an hour off work........ The technician at the main location advised to remove all eyelashes. They didn't offer any explanation but I know it's because the lashes were installed incorrectly. My eyes felt instantly better after they were removed. I only went there because they had a groupon deal.. cheaper than my previous go-to place. But basically I spent much more than I spent before and still no lashes...... I went back to my previous place and they said because my eyes are still agitated I need to Wait a while before another extensions can be done. Lesson of the day, don't buy something on groupon just because they were cheap.... otherwise you will just end up spending more.... Regular appointments at Kinjou have become an absolute must for me! After going to these lovely ladies for around 8 months, I have experienced zero problems. The studio is always very clean, the ladies always run on time, and the environment is always welcoming and relaxing. I love consistently good service, and that is what Kinjou provides. The reason I'm addicted to eyelash extensions is because it cut down my morning routine from 45 minutes to 20. Kinjou Lashes (previously Feather Lashes) does THE BEST eyelash extensions in Vancouver. Forget about Noir and Wink. They damaged my lashes SO badly that my technician, Cocoa (sorry if I remember her name wrong) had to do extra work to hide gaps I had on my both lashes! Extensions that I got from here were nothing like Noir or Wink. Kinjou's lashes were so light and natural - NO clumps or pain. Kinjou's extensions are so precise. They attach one extension on one natural lash and does not damage natural lashes. They are so comfortable and I LOVE them so much. I also loved how Cocoa made sure what I want. She drew and written down how she is going to design my lashes because I had hard time understanding her - English is not my first language and everyone in Vancouver speaks too fast X( As L.T says, Kinjou do not take new clients on weekends:( I asked Cocoa, and she said that weekends are by appointment only and no receptionist working. They are booked back to back, and have no time to go through consultations and explanations of extensions with clients. She also told me that no phone calls are picked up during weekends, so it will be a little trouble if new clients call for directions and such. So I am guessing weekends are their extra work days? I actually saw a trainee practicing lash extensions, so Kinjou maybe open weekends for them. I don't know. One thing I do not like about this place is that you have to book 1 to 2 weeks ahead. They are VERY VERY busy because everyone trusts their work! My schedule changes all the time and it is hard to keep up with their refill policy, but I would definitely recommend Kinjou to everyone. read more

Had a previous good experience until one appointment where a had a different technician after they rearranged my appointment. Paid for a diamond set - $140!! Lashes were much less full, colour was changed from black and I was not informed, and lashes fell out within 10 days. Instead of listening and offering compensation, the manager said I was being accusatory and did not believe there was any problem with what had happened. Well they lost a customer pretty quickly, not the best way to run your business with such poor customer service. I bought a groupon in December for eyelash extension and wanted to use it before I went on my holidays but they were fully booked, so I just recently used it. The workers here are very friendly and informative. Before my lashes was put on the practitioner took the time to explain the procedure and after care. Since I've have them done before I already knew what to expect, but it was nice that they took the time to explain in case I didn't know. She also let me choose the length of the lashes my last one was pretty but I wanted it to be a little longer she showed me different lengths until I found one I like. When she finished I thought they looked great! The only thing I was disappointed about was when I had purchased the groupon it had mentioned it was a gold level meaning it was 60 lashes which I think I got, but it also included color that was not even mentioned at all, I didn't bother asking so I guess that was my fault, butnwould have been nice to have the option. This place has gone downhill... I used to rave about this place to all my friends but now i regret it. I just went in for my two-weeks refill and I may have walked out with less lashes than before my fill. First off, I was the only customer in there and there were 2 technicians and 1 front receptionist. I paid for 1.5 hours of parking because a couple weeks ago i went in for a fill i had to add an extra half hour during my session. The other technician who had no clients at the time started chit-chatting in chinese with my lash tech and so she spent about 10-15mins talking and not doing anything else. I don't care if you have conversations but if you can't multi-task then customer care should come first. I was so close to getting out of my chair and telling them to forget the fill but since i already paid for parking, i forced myself to stay (last time). Then she started counting my lashes and asked the other tech (who did the refill last time) to come over. I was thinking oh god, what now?? she started telling her something in Mandarin and although I barely understood, I kinda knew what she was complaining about. She started counting my lashes again out loud in Mandarin and I guess she complained about how she gave me too many lashes (she counted 86 and told the other girl i should only have 80) last time so this time she wasn't going to fill in any on my right side. I knew she didn't fill any on my right because all i felt was brushing thru and she didn't even tape my eyelid up but she taped my left side. Now after 10 mins of counting and brushing my right side, she goes to my left side and i felt her put in 3 lashes and started the fan. within 10 mins she tells me i'm done and asked if i wanted to take a look. I took a look in the mirror and asked her if she even filled any on my right side (she probably thought i fell asleep during the procedure and that i wasn't paying attention) she answers yes and then quickly changes the topic on how to clean my lashes. Firstly, this is a refill and i've gotten refills done before so i should know how to clean my lashes and secondly, my lashes look more bare than before i sat down. That's because she brushed out as many as she could and didn't fill any more in because 'i got way more than i was suppose to last time' My refill 2 weeks ago took about 1.5hrs and this time it was less than 45mins including her talking in the first 10mins. They still demanded i pay in full for the 2 weeks refill ($45 plus tax and tips for no more than 5 lashes put in). The least they could've done was tell me in the first place that i didn't need a fill and gave me the option that if i wanted 3-5 lashes put in, it will cost me $45. What a waste of time and money. This eye lash bar is the best in the city hands down. I have been going to KpKo for three years and have never be unsatisfied . I have been to quiet a few and over priced and never last . These you get to personalize our eyelashes every time . There Are every affordable and love that I rebook every two weeks you only pay 40 dollars for the fill. Happy girl Lana read more

At first I was happy with Kinjou, but the problem is if you haven't been there for a long time, like away on a holiday & you had it done where you spent holiday, they won't do refills.I explained to them that I just had it done & all I wanted was a refill & they said because I haven't been there for a long time, they have to do a new set!. I went to another shop in east Vancouver ( Chic Lash Boutuque) & I'm very happy & it is cheaper than kinjou. My lashes stayed longer also. I waited for 5 weeks before I had a refill from this new saloon. read more

I never do this cuz I'm lazy and I only signed up just now to give a good review for my Wedding Reception but I saw Kinjou review pop up and wanted to give my 2 cents because I actually really like this place. My first time was in April this year where I was testing out lashes for my Wedding. I didn't go for the suggested length and wanted them super long so it looked ok on me & it kept poking me in the face (so listen to your lash aesthetician when you go there lol). Aside from that the quality and placement was excellent and I was really blown away. It was my first time and they lasted for almost 3 months and I was really rough with them. I was really impressed. Second time I went in June for a new set for the Wedding and I listened to the lash aesthetician this time and her suggestion made my eyes look so beautiful except the corner lashes fell out really quick so I had to go in two weeks later for touch ups. I'm not sure why the first time they lasted so long. They even keep a record of your profile on their Ipad and there's a history record of what you have previously done which is great! and I also like that they give you blankets so you don't get cold while they do your lashes and make sure they give you a clean new one as well (unless they go in the back and pretend, haha). Overall they really do feel like your real lashes and looks like it too! There's no lines or anything and I will definitely go back again next month even though my Wedding is over. I just can't go back to mascara because I really don't wear that much make up anymore with these lashes and putting on make up for work takes me 10 mns now. Hope this helps! read more

I go to Kinjou Lashes every two weeks for refill since the summer of 2013, and the technicians have been professional and helpful. The owner Vanessa is very passionate about the business and very conscious. She cares about her customers - she always recommends me to take a break from the lash extensions because it's good for my lashes. She always has to convince me to do so because I am so reluctant to remove the lash extensions. Anyhoo, a recommendation for those girls who want an extra 20 mins of sleep every morning. :) read more
