Falafel Pizza and Stuffed Grape Leaves
Alexis B.

After having a few too many at happy hour recently, I realized I was starving on my walk home and decided to pick up some takeout from King's Pizza & Subs. I love the variety of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean/Italian/American dishes on their menu - you can get everything from hummus and fried chicken to subs and pizza. I got a falafel pizza and dolma (stuffed grape leaves). Both were tasty! (Is it just me or are their dolma served with BBQ sauce?! Weird tasty!) I ordered ahead on ChowNow, which was convenient. This is not the fanciest place in Hampden. It's not the foodiest of all spots in the neighborhood either. But what I had really hit the spot. It's a good option for a casual takeout dinner! Or a take home snack if you forgot to eat and had a few too many at happy hour!

Spinach pie. Very good.
Mike D.

Good, solid pizza, be sure when you ask for extra pepperoni that they really add extra. We loved the spinach pie tonight, not greasy, perfect crust and a subtle hint of lemon. Delicious! Wings turned out to be boneless but they were tender and juicy. Very good meal. When ordering on Slice, be certain you are doing delivery versus pickup.

Chicken Cheesesteak Sub. ketchup did not help.

not sure if it's new management but i typically order a chicken cheesesteak & an italian cold cut to split with my bf. today they were honestly nasty. different (and much much MUCH worse) bread than usual. they put literally 1 kind of ham and the worst excuse for mortadella (it tasted & looked like bologna) on my "italian" cold cut. hots have no spice to them. the chicken on the cheesesteak was visibly burnt/overcooked. whatever yall changed, change it back. hire your old cooks. anything but this. literally seasoning a can of tuna would have been better than this $30 worth of food.

French fries with cheese and gravy!! Yum. O.
Melissa G.

French fries with cheese and gravy!! So yummy here. If you're looking for good food at a cheap price.. King's pizza is hands down the best on the Avenue! Not many delivery places will feed 3 people for 20 bucks. I place my order through here, but the girl that answers the phone is as good as any other. I worked here over 20 years ago so was craving it when we moved back. The food didn't let me down.

The good berry salad was so incredible. The goat cheese, cranberries, and corn were so perfect, I added grilled chicken- and it was so flavorful- not dry and not chewy. I can tell it's high quality. And I'm so beyond full and happy. My son crushed the cheese pizza. My husband (who said he didn't want anything) happily ate the chicken sandwich. I love how easy it was to remove or add anything online. My husband doesn't love mushrooms or mayo- and it was so easy to remove them. And the kitchen got the order perfect. The restaurant itself was so clean and well run. I honestly wish this place was closer to our house because I would order from here more often .... And I might if I can get it delivered somehow. Eek.

Flavor was on point, and the small pieces were delicious. Unfortunately, many of the sprouts were huge and simply didn't cook through and were crunchy on the inside. If they either cook everything longer, or cut the sprouts smaller, this would be a killer combo. If you are in the neighborhood for jury duty, this is a solid option and offers a 10% discount.

Karen and Christian, our servers, took excellent care of us. My husband ordered his favorite - Chicken Francese - this is 3 chicken breasts egg-dipped in a white wine lemon butter sauce, which he asked to be served over fettuccine. I decided to try something new to me and ordered the Chicken Marsala, which was chicken and mushrooms in marsala sauce over linguine. We really enjoy coming to Tre Fratelli not only for the food, but also because they are BYOB with no corkage fee. Thank you for another enjoyable dinner!

Also ordered a Caesar salad which unfortunately did not come (again, the delivery had other issues so I don't think it was the fault of the restaurant). My bf loved the cheese ravioli. He thought the filling was tasty and enjoyed the sauce. Their red sauce is a more chunky sauce with onions which I did not taste because I'm not a fan, but he would get it again. I'm still looking for a smooth sauce for some chicken parm, but no worries since the menu here has plenty of different sauce options! I enjoyed the chicken francese. The chicken was very tender and it was a generous portion. I felt it could have used a bit more flavor, but the sauce was a nice consistency and the linguine was cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the complimentary rolls that came with the meal. Overall, I enjoyed this spot and will try more items in the future!

The exterior is a bit unassuming; you'd never guess they had such good eats here just looking at the place, but walk through that door and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Staff here are pretty friendly and welcoming. I can appreciate being greeted as soon as I'm noticed. I just grabbed a pie to go, but there was plenty enough seating and would be inclined to sit down and eat here next time. Pizza is one of my comfort foods, so I'm a little particular when it comes to how it tastes. If you're looking for authentic flavor, you'll find it here. Overall:

Driving down York Road one day I decided let me finally make a pit stop into Baltoz. An open space counter to see some of the magic in the kitchen, no frills to the restaurant, but a warm and inviting atmosphere for hanging out and enjoying a delicious pizza for dinner. All of the baked goods displayed on the counter entice you to indulge in a sweet treat before ordering a pizza. My first visit I just settled on some cookies and a jalapeno cheddar bagel, since I was on my way elsewhere for dinner. But let me tell you how the chocolate chip cookie instantly became one of my favorite bakery cookies. And the bagel was decadent for my morning breakfast, covered in cheddar cheese with those crispy edges that bake at the base of the bagel. On my second visit I settled on their corn pizza since it was a different flavor combination, and it tasted like a slice of summer. Corn, basil, and ricotta, and you can't go wrong. And the staff has always been really pleasant with each visit. I'm a sucker for baked goods and a wood-fire pizza and I can say Baltoz has stolen my heart. I'm looking forward to trying more of their rotational baked items. And I know for certain their pepperoni pizza has to be a showstopper.

Forno is officially one of those spots I will make the drive for. This was my second visit, and yes, I came all the way from Gaithersburg because the food is THAT good. It's a super cozy, family-owned, hole-in-the-wall Italian spot with such a warm, homey vibe. Nothing overly fancy or pretentious, just really good food, good wine, and the kind of atmosphere where you can settle in and stay awhile. The MUST order for me is the Arrosticini -- marinated lamb skewers grilled with lemon and EVOO and served with arugula. These are authentic Italian-style lamb skewers, and I'm telling you, you do not find these everywhere. They were so good we ordered TWO rounds. I almost went for a Third but they were sold out...no shame in my game. The fried artichokes were another standout, especially with the creamy cacio e pepe sauce. That sauce was so good I was dipping everything in it by the end of the meal. We also shared the meatballs, prosciutto burrata salad, and the Calabrian Sweet & Spicy pizza which is has fig jam, Calabrian chili, mozzarella, brie, and balsamic glaze. That sweet, spicy, creamy combo on the pizza was so good. We split a bottle of wine too, and I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable some of the bottle prices were. Sam took care of us and was incredibly personable and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. We ended up lounging on the couch, sipping wine, eating amazing Italian food, and just vibing. Honestly, such a good date-night or catch-up-with-friends kind of spot. Everything I've had at Forno has been delicious so far. Can't wait to be back! 100/10 recommend. Worth the drive. Come hungry, order the lamb skewers, and thank me later.
