The skillet was ok because the gravy was ice cold. We all really enjoyed the sourdough bread/toast. It had a rich, flavor and was better than most! The service was HORRIBLE! It took 45 minutes to order and then another 45 minutes to get our food. The waitress was complaining that her tips were missing and my guess is that this skillet with the gravy sat waiting for her. I would go back because of the food for sure.

Waiting for my car to be serviced, I was looking for something to eat. If you follow my reviews,…read moreyou know I'm always on the lookout for new places to try while supporting local businesses. We spotted JD Slingers and decided to check it out. The parking lot is small, and if you're heading east on Reno Highway, you could easily miss it since it's tucked behind the tall Depot building in the Bonanza Casino complex. We arrived around 8:30 a.m., and there were only about three other occupied tables. The menu offered much more than just breakfast, with everything from burgers to sandwiches to sirloin steaks, meatloaf, and other comfort food favorites. Of course, what immediately caught my eye was the pastrami sandwich! I love a good pastrami, but I'm pretty particular--I prefer leaner slices rather than the fattier cuts that many places serve. Our server, Anna, wasn't sure whether the pastrami was lean or not, but I decided to take a chance. I'm so glad I did! It was served on what I believe was a hoagie roll with just pastrami and pickles, and it was absolutely delicious. The pastrami was tender, flavorful, and just the way I like it. I only added a little mustard toward the end because the roll was a bit thick, but honestly, it didn't need any condiments. It was great just as it came. I opted for the coleslaw instead of fries, and it was a great choice--it was fresh, creamy, and paired perfectly with the sandwich. As we were finishing our meal, the restaurant became noticeably busier. Anna was the only server on the floor, yet she kept up with the growing crowd while continuing to provide friendly, attentive service. I also noticed the manager making the rounds to check on guests, which is always appreciated. Overall, this was a great first visit. Great food, friendly service, and a local spot I'll definitely be coming back to--especially for that pastrami sandwich!

Our server had a lot of tables, and I think that's why our service ended up being sub par. We were the only table in the entire restaurant that didn't have waters brought to us. Our food took over 30 minutes to come out, and I absolutely don't mind, but it took 15 minutes and 3 attempts at calling my service over to get another beer. The food was great. I did ask for a spicy salsa and they brought me mild which is fine. Overall, I know what it's like to be an overwhelmed server, and the food was good. The flavors were definitely there. I went back again as I'm in town for a horse show and we are close by. The service was definitely better tonight. Jose is AMAZING!! I also had the servers whip me up a shrimp dish that was a mix of spicy and garlicky and they killed it. SO DELICIOUS!! The flavors were authentic and just in every bite. I would definitely come back!

Even his branding is on point with adorable logo stickers and a mini tumbler keychain! We sampled five different hot dog creations, and each one had its own unique flavor and personality. My personal favorite was the Classic, as I'm more of a traditional hot dog fan and not much into chili, cheese, or mashed toppings. But there truly was something for everyone. The Nathan's hot dogs were cooked to perfection and served on soft, buttery brioche buns that really elevated the experience. Since he's still in the early stages of launching his business, he's experimenting with different creations, so the menu may change from week to week as he discovers what his customers enjoy most. If you're looking to support a local small business, be sure to check out Cruz'n Dogs! Hours: Weekends from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM Cruz'n Dogs offer delivery within the Fernley area for a small fee of up to $4. Wishing Luis nothing but success on this exciting new venture! You all know I'm a huge supporter of local entrepreneurs and small businesses. They're the heart of our communities, and supporting them is one of the best ways to help our local economy grow. Best of luck, Luis--I can't wait to see Cruz'n Dogs continue to grow and succeed!

An update to my earlier review: we spent a beautiful hot Saturday participating in the Arts Council tournament. It was a great day on the whole except that towards the end there was a new bartender on shift. I think her name is Cody. She is pretty although you wouldn't know it because she never smiled or even give you a hello. She was rude. So rude in fact that people around me waiting for drinks noticed and remarked. One remark was wow, she must not want to be here today. I will just say that I work in customer service, and it's never my Guests fault for me having a bad day. Keep it to yourself!!!!
