We ordered via DoorDash and the food was cold by the time it arrived. We got salmon with grilled broccolini, grilled lemon and mashed potato. Mashed potato was the largest part of the meal. The salmon was thin and overcooked. The rapini had a nice grilled flavour but it was super salty. The lemon was a nice touch. For a $40 meal for one, it's not worth it. Food is getting really expensive without upping the quality, making it organic and here, with unsustainable, unrecyclable black plastic packaging. For the price point, I was expecting something above mediocre, and definitely with sustainable packaging. I'd also like more info on the salmon other than "Oceanwise", like how it was raised, where, etc. All I know is that it wasn't in an ocean pen (which will soon be illegal anyway). My friends and I went here for their Happy Hour (Daily 2-5PM, Sun-Thurs 9pm-close). Honestly, for the Happy Hour, the price of some of the drinks are worth it, but I cannot say the same about the food. The food is still so expensive. We had: Frozen Margarita (strawberry) -The best margarita I've had. I loved it. Very sweet and had the texture of a slightly melted snow cone. Very low alcohol content though. This is a drink for those who actually don't like to drink. Price was more on the expensive side. Sea Salted Fries - It tasted like regular fries but was one of the cheaper appetizers. The patio area was decently spacious and it was a good place to chill. There was a time limit to how long we could hang out though. The staff was pretty nice but they were so busy, so it took some time to flag people down. As well, when it was time to pay, they charged us regular price for the Sea Salted Fries because they said we ordered after 5PM, which we did not. Really is some of the best pizza for one of these types of restaurants. The crust was crispy, seemed to be coated in some olive oil and gave me some pizza hut vibes in the best way possible if you know what I mean. Before COVID, my friends and I were about to visit King Taps after seeing a pretty aesthetic story of their patio. When stage one hit we were determined to visit for our first patio back. The downfall was definitely our high expectations! Objectively, the ambiance and food was tasty, something worthy of a downtown patio experience. The servers grouped us in as the "teenagers" even though we are definitely well past that age. They were not too kind to us in a nutshell but I understand it was a busy evening and not everyone has time for small talk. The truffle fries and bang bang shrimp worked perfectly as starters for the table, and I enjoyed my main dish- the saladita bowl. As for drinks, I'd say they were pretty average. I would recommend coming during happy hour as it is probably where the drinks and food shine at an affordable price range. Have been a few times now and have to say that they have consistently delivered. Servers are outstanding. Went with a group of 7 - everything arrived quickly, hot and all enjoyed their orders. Server checked on us during a really busy time topping up drinks etc. and was super friendly. King Taps is a great restaurant to dine at regardless of what the occasion is. It's very busy on weekends so I would encourage anyone to make a reservation ahead of time. There is seating on two levels and an outdoor patio (with heated lamps in the winter). It's usually very crowded at the end of a work day as it's in the heart of Toronto's financial district. In the evening, there is a DJ playing music which makes the atmosphere very lively. Plenty of TVs around the bar area to watch sports. I ordered the steak & frites with calamari for the table. As a craft beer emporium, a 5. As a restaurant, a 1. For atmosphere, a 4 inside, but a 2 in the covered patio where we ended up seated - after making reservations days in advance. For service, a 3, with a very nice but overworked and overstretched waitress clearly doing her best and falling short. The food was mediocre at best, but with pretentious names and prices to match. An appetizer-sized serving of popcorn chicken bathed in a vaguely Asian sauce gets labelled as "Korean-style fried chicken" and priced at $17 rather than the $7 it would cost at a KFC. The $18 to $20 salads were only slightly better value, mine consisting of a wedge of iceberg lettuce with a tablespoon of blue cheese and bacon bits and a half-dozen small cubes of avocado. Mostly fresh, with only the bacon bits being overcooked long in advance. If you want a beer, King Taps is a great idea. If you want a good meal, or good value - not so much. read more

I went to this restaurant with my sister after patios re-opened and our experience was great! We got the Tuna Bowl and the Prawn Tacos to share and they were both delicious! You could tell that all the ingredients were really fresh- especially the mango and the ahi tuna. Also, all the different flavours in the tacos meshed amazingly well together. My favorite is the Fish Tacos which are extremely fresh with the lime added, and the Shrimp/Pesto pizza. Throughout the meal I was debating with my friends about what rating I should give them. I think a 3 star is the right rating for my overall experience at King Taps. On one hand, we didn't like how loud the restaurant was and the fact they still had the window to the patio open when it was like 10 degrees outside that we basically had to wear a jacket while sitting at our table. While on the other hand, the food was really good and the fries were to die for. We tried asking the server to switch to a warmer table upstairs, but it turned out they only have 2-person tables upstairs and all the tables have already been reserved. So basically we were stuck downstairs with the window open and cold wind blowing in, and I was starting to get a headache from how cold it was. The hot water and tea was the only thing keeping us in the restaurant before the food came. To start, we got the calamari, which had good flavour but I was expecting larger squid rings. For main, we ordered the burger and the turkey sandwich, which both turned out to be massive. I basically had to share half of my sandwich with my other friend because of how much food there was. I liked the balance of turkey, avocado, bacon, and lettuce (I replaced the tomatoes) in the sandwich. The fries in particular was the highlight of the meal, it was freshly prepared and really crispy. I finally had a chance to try King Taps after multiple recommendations from my cousin who works there. On Sundays they have half priced pizza and $5-6 dollar drinks. (Food:) The pizzas were amazing and lived up to the hype. I am shocked; shocked, I tell you, that they are like $10 because of the half priced deal. I, for one, am a sucker for wood-fired pizza and King Taps does a great job. The crust is chewy, but crunchy, and each of the pizzas I tried, had it's own flair to it. i had the PRAWN AND PESTO, the KONA and the STINGING BEE. My favourite was the KONA, but honestly, they were all good. We also tried the PRAWN TACOS and the TUNA BOWL. I personally, didn't love the TUNA BOWL, but I only did have a few bites to try. The PRAWN TACOS were great, but a bit pricey for just 3 tacos. Dessert was a WARM PRETZEL CRUNCH BROWNIE: Holy it was delicious, and the pretzel crunch was a nice caramel-ly surprise. Arrived around 7:30 pm on a Sunday night upstairs where it was not busy. We were greeted by our server "'Meg" the girl with the long blonde hair. The service seemed fine from the start after she asked us about drinks but after that it went downhill. After about 10-15 mins we had no follow up on ordering food from Meg so we had to ask another server to flag her down. After our food arrived, we still had no standard courtesy follow up if we needed anything else or how our food was after a couple of bites. We noticed she very attentive to other tables that were larger and appeared to order more drinks etc. However, this doesn't excuse the lack of attention and courtesy to see how we're doing... frustrating that we had to ask ANOTHER server to flag Meg down again for our bill and takeout box. Meg finally came and acknowledged our request for our bill/take out box but then proceeded to clean 3 other tables in between.. like cmon! It was not busy.. the fact we had to ask 2 other servers to get to your attention is brutal. Worst customer service experience ever. We just went to the other King Taps location the other night and the customer service was exceptional. It's upsetting because we really enjoyed our food! I had a totally different experience on my recent lunch visit this time. The food, service and ambiance were all great this time! My friends and I got a table on the patio which was really nice. It was calling for rain so it was a little risky...we were quite lucky because it did pour that afternoon just after we left. The service was outstanding as my friend was being a little picky with getting a different table on the patio which was a lot better so I'm glad we changed table. We asked about the drinks and our server recommended the frojito (limited time only) and cucumber mule which were both really good. The food was fabulous! I had the Tuna bowl which had a nice mix of Ahi Tuna, avocado, mango, Napa and rice with miso dressing...very refreshing! My friend had the veggie burger which is an excellent choice. Weekend Happy Hours Edition Was super weary to go but it turned out much better than I had expected! We came here on Sunday during the happy hours (2-5pm). Patio was unfortunately closed due to the rain. Indoor seating was limited to 2nd floor and since we had reservation, we were placed at an individual table booth near the kitchen. The booth had these panes installed around to separate our side from the neighbouring booths. In front of us, there were bar seats, which had empty seats in btw so that groups weren't seated side by side. There were hand sanitizers and masks offered at the first floor entrance. Most people wore masks prior to being seated. The staff wore masks at all times. Menu was viewed by scanning the QR code on the table. We ordered 3 rounds of the Bang Bang Shrimp, 2 Truffle Fries with chipotle sauce on side, and Korean Chicken. All were super delicious and enough to be shared for group of 5. The Korean Chicken had slightly a kick and were served with skewers. My favourite was the bang bang shrimp! The combo of tempura shrimp soaked in soy charamel and spicy miso (which was not spicy at all) really hit the spot. For drinks, we had Hippie Juice (super refreshing lemonade virgin drink), frozen lime margarita, and Sapporo! FYI, the entrance was a bit difficult to locate. It was lively and loud but I thought service was friendly enough so when summerlicous rolled around, I thought I would try it again an early dinner on a Friday at 6-7pm. SERVICE 2/5: Servers need to be better trained. Granted it was busy but for their business centered location and menu prices I expect better. We had 2 separate servers twice try to give us an order we didnt put through. 1) We had just sat down and a server tried to give us a beer order but we never ordered anything. 2) Someone tried to give us different food. Our server occasionally checked up on us but when I asked one for an extra napkin during our main dishes they actually said they cannot give me one. At first I was incredulous and even my friend said maybe they misunderstood and meant to say they didnt have one on them. But after they served dessert, they never did bring me that napkin so I just assume I was only allowed 1 napkin for the whole entire evening. Which is ridiculous cause I paid about over $50 for a meal and a drink and you can't give me an extra napkin?? Getting in was a bit annoying since we did not know where to go-went up a flight of stairs to find a sign telling us to go back down...once we got in, we had to go up another flight of stairs to get on..kind of comical actually! All you need to know. 2) Service: (5/5) The waitress Nina, I believe that was her name, was beyond helpful and kind. She really went out of her way to service my friend and I when it came to ordering drinks. Not only was she really consistent with her assistance but also very polite when checking up on us. 3) Food: (4.5/5) The unique flavours are beyond my palette - but that's a good thing. I was able to try dishes such as Crispy Sushi, Bang Bang Shrimp to Margarita Pizza. Everything that came out was delicious. However, I believe there were some listed i was excited to try, but it never made it out of the kitchen. Although, that didn't ruin my experience. I was very happy with the different flavours and wide range of options provided. King Taps has been offering great "game day" combos. It's usually 2 pizzas plus a couple of sides. The first time we ordered, it was 2 pizzas, wings, and a bottle of wine. Currently, they are offering 2 pizzas, minimacks, and Korean chicken, for $55 as their game day combo. Their pizzas are similar to Neapolitan style - thin crust with a few select toppings. I liked that their dough is seasoned so when you get to the crust it's not tasteless. We selected Gimme a Pepperoni and Bianca pizza. The Gimme a Pepperoni was loaded with pepperonis, with each pepperoni practically touching another one. If you're a pepperoni fan, this pie is for you. The Bianca was creamy and savoury, a lighter tasting pie. The minimacks tasted exactly like Big Mac sliders. At first look, I thought it had too much sauce and lettuce, but once I took a bite it was a good balance of ingredients. The Korean chicken was flavourful with a hint of spice. A nice touch from the restaurant is sealing the pizza box with a sticker for health and safety, ensuring no one has opened it. But I noticed this was not done for the other food containers. I guess this it being nit picky, but can't be too safe in the current climate. Overall, King Taps has never really disappointed and for sure we'll be ordering here again sooner or later. read more

Even though we booked on the phone, days before, they didn't tell us until we came that they cannot seat us until 75% of our party was there. So we did have to wait around for a bit. After 10pm the pizzas are 1/2 price and there are tons of drink specials especially in the selection of beer. We were celebrating a birthday and they kindly accommodated us well with our birthday cake we brought. I tried both the Strawberry and Mango Frozen Margaritas as well as two of the beers on tap. The Moscow Mules were also pretty popular at our table. Everyone at our table ordered either a Margarita or Pepperoni Pizza and could hardly finish. They were made well, and tasted delicious. I came here with a friend for happy hour (2-5pm, everyday but Sunday) and we decided to share the bang bang shrimp and truffle fries appetizers and a stinging bee pizza. Bang bang shrimp - this was delicious. They had a soy sauce that balanced the shrimp very well. Truffle fries - these were also great. They had a creamy sauce with them, but I preferred the fries on their own. Stinging bee pizza - it was recommended to us. Pretty good. The honey gave it an interesting twist. Next time I got, I'd probably pick another pizza to try them all out. Frozen margarita - tasted great I gave this place a 5 Star because the atmosphere was amazing, food was tasty and great for sharing, and the servers were nice . read more

We visited on the 15th of October with our toddler for a late lunch. Very relaxed atmosphere, staff could not be more accommodating and the food was excellent. Really enjoyed the chicken tacos! Would recommend. read more
