This place is a must for sushi lovers. You just can't beat half price sushi rolls... plus they are amazing quality. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I don't remember the names of all the rolls that we tried but I was not disappointed in even one. The place isn't huge so go early, there is not a lot of seating. What a great find! We live close to here and tried King Salmon on a whim. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the sushi was delicious. Highly recommend the spicy geisha and rainbow rolls. My partner lived the spider and supreme rolls. The rolls came quickly and service was friendly and fast. It's a small spot with plenty of 2-seat tables for a date night. Absolutely love King Salmon. I come here every time I am in town. Very reasonably priced fresh sushi. The staff are nice and the place is always clean. Extensive menu but I usually get the California roll, spicy tuna, or hamachi. Last time, I ordered a Pacific roll and loved it. Miso soup is always very good as well. Only two people on duty as the wait staff at 12 noon. I was dining alone. It took a long time for the food to arrive and two other tables that sat down after me got their food first and after my food finally arrived no one ever came back to my table to check on me or to refill my drink. What a great find. We went for lunch to this very cute little space and found sushi rolls were 50% off. We were greeted and seated as we walked through the door. Very nice waitress named Lily. We got vegetable tempura to start and a couple of different rolls plus an order of Salmon sashimi. Everything was delicious. The tempura was the lightest and crispest I've ever had. The rolls were small enough to fit in my mouth with generous amounts of fish and not just a rice bomb. The sashimi was perfect and generous. It isn't fancy but it is wonderful. Meh. Wouldn't return. Found two hairs in two different sushi rolls. They remade it and then offered a free hand roll. Beef Bulgogi was like a 6/10 the beef and rice were kinda tough but had a good flavor. Asked for a refill on my ice tea & was told I'd have to pay for it. Crazy. Also the door shuts extremely slow so the cold draft gets in for like 10 seconds each time someone opens the door. Another thing is the menu is so weird it says like 50% off but has the normal price of things. Why wouldn't you just put the price the customer will end up paying? read more

Can't beat the prices here. 50% off sushi rolls. Most contained cooked fish, fried items, or are entirely fried. They are pretty heavy with the sauces (eel, spicy mayo), so worth mentioning if you don't like it too saucy. The rice in these rolls were kinda mushy, and it was pretty inconsistent between rolls. Not sure why this was. Ended up w the Pacific Roll, I Love Crab, and AZ cardinals rolls. Nigiri isn't half off, but they were sizable and quite tasty. Rice was good, unlike the sushi rolls. Seared salmon, hamachi, and unagi were all tasty. Seared salmon had a layer of spicy mayo. Generous portion of fish, to the point you can't see the rice! A bit far from me, but would visit again if in the area. Wish the rice wasn't mushy in the rolls, and more like they were in the nigiri. read more

We visited this establishment for dinner on a Wednesday, and we were seated right away. The host was very amicable and the waiter was as well. I expected the dining room to be warm, as the kitchen is open concept, however it was pleasant enough to enjoy a meal. We ordered the takoyaki, chicken karaage, and 3 rolls. The chicken karaage was crispy and juicy and the 3 rolls were decently sized and prepared very well. The food came out very quickly although most of the tables were occupied. I got the GYU-DON (BEEF) rice bowl & it comes with a miso soup & the 16 PCS LARGE ASSORTED SASHIMI. The assorted sashimi is definitely a bang for your buck. They were very generous. I got way more than 16 pieces. It was a variety of SALMON, TUNA, YELLOWTAIL, WHITE FISH, SCALLOP, & 1pc SHRIMP. The gyu-don was sweet, savory, & filling. I will definitely be back! Our favorite roll was the "Salmon Lovers" that is a definite must! Very fresh and smooth. "I Love Crab" was good, has crab inside and on top tempura style. Me and my family eat here almost every week because we cannot get enough of the outstanding food and service! All the workers are wonderful and greet us when we walk in, and it genuinely is just the most pleasant restaurant experience I've had out of all the places we've been around Phoenix. The tempura shrimp and salmon nigiri are the best I've had, and I can't eat them anywhere else because I know it won't be comparable to King Salmon. I was immediately warmly greeted by all the workers, and I felt very welcomed during the short time I was there. I just ordered food for take-out, so I can't comment on the dining experience. My food was already made and ready by the time I went to the restroom and came out. I ordered a spicy tuna roll ($5 after discount) and salmon roll ($5 after discount). The rolls had so much fish in them!! I was surprised. Usually it's filled with other stuff like vegetables and a tiny piece of fish, but these were literally just a thin layer of rice and seaweed with a huge chunk of fish inside. I love fish and would prefer more fish over rice, so I liked my food a lot!! The restaurant is located in the same plaza as the Panera and Smoothie King - it's a pretty busy plaza, but parking is never a problem for me here. read more

I have tried King Salmon a few times now, it's close to work and an easy pick up for dinner. Being pregnant I cannot have raw fish right now so I can only speak to the cooked rolls. I usually end up with a tempura California roll, shrimp tempura roll, and recently I tried their sweet potato roll. The sushi always tastes super fresh, rice is soft and the roll just melts in your mouth. The tempura California roll is delicious. It's lightly battered and fried, the crab inside is soft and so yummy. The shrimp tempura roll is a bit on the smaller side than what I am used to, but the shrimp is always tender and not over cooked. It's a solid go to and can't complain about it. The sweet potato roll unfortunately wasn't something I would go for again. For $9, it was tiny and wasn't filled with anything besides sweet potato. The sweet potato itself was tender and flavorful, but it was meh and on the boring side. Just make sure to check your order before you leave. Last couple of visits, I didn't get any soy sauce or chopsticks. Would definitely come back because of the overall quality. read more

We stumbled upon this gem last night. This is one of those killer hole-in-the-walls where the owner's adorable young child shyly pops over to your table with the waitress before scurrying back to her iPad in the back. No wait for a table for 4, killer "happy hour" prices (50% off all sushi rolls Monday-Friday), and delicious fish. We had the Central and D-Back specialty rolls as well as the basic salmon, yellowtail, unagi, and rainbow rolls, which was a perfect amount to fill up our group. They have fresh wasabi too! The miso soup was so good that Mark H. had two cups of it. I know he's planning to make this one of his new lunch spots. It looks like they have a $20 sashimi plate for 16 pieces, which seems like an excellent deal. I'll probably try that next time! read more

I was in Phoenix for leisure, and I tend to search out sushi, even in landlocked states, because I like to feel lucky to be from California where there is no shortage of good sushi. King Salmon was where I choose to try because they advertised M-F all day, 50% off select rolls, hand rolls, and other various items. Now, 50% off sounds nice, but in reality, you know there's a let down somewhere. Let's get onto the food! I ordered one roll, and two handrolls and my company did the same for her portion. The roll is like a roll at any other sushi roll place, being sauced a little too much but still edible; however, for 50% off, the size definitely corresponded. It's unfortunately, because we really believe we were offered less, and the regular menu prices are a bit high, so there is no way they can charge regular price for what we got. Anyway, in terms of hand rolls, relatively simple and easy, but stick to salmon and avocado only. Don't say I didn't warn you! We tried the hamachi and spicy tuna hand rolls, and both were disappointments. Overall, our meal cost about $60 which is average for what we got, so where was the 50% off? LOL. We were having some drinks nearby and happened to stumble upon Kings Salmon looking for something to eat. Well, lucky us!!! We ordered to go so didn't stay there. The place is small so I can imagine the wait can be long if busy. I ordered the White Dragon - that one has jumbo shrimp, spicy salmon, topped with crab, tempura flakes, spicy mayo & eel sauce. OMG! The flavor, the little spicy kick, the texture - 10/10. Husband is allergic to shellfish, and they had a decent amount of rolls with multiple types of fish- he got the Suns - it has salmon, tuna, hamachi, and avocado; deep fried with masago and eel sauce. This place is fairly new to the PHX restaurant scene, but DEFINITELY a best kept secret. This will be our new go-to sushi restaurant. No contest. Don't come expecting ramen, though they do have udon. This place is meant to pare down the essentials, and while there are some appetizers on the menu, it's truly mostly sushi. This is a good thing, as the focus is on the fish. No distractions. We even brought our toddler--who is PICKY as they come--and she ate the karaage and rice with GUSTO. She was reluctant to even share it. I loved that the rolls were half off because it made it so cheap but the quality was still there. They tasted amazing. I had okonomiyaki which is something you can't find many places in the US but it's a dish I love and it was phenomenal here. The service was good as well. The waitress was very kind.
