Horrible food quality! I ordered a Philly steak and it barely had any meat, no lettuce or onions it was sad and cost too much. The fries tasted like cold potatoes

I have been wanting to try this for a while now and unfortunately I wasn't very impressed. I was expecting a mom and pop type place with fresh food and it was essentially the same quality as stadium food you'd get at a football game. The menu was quite extensive though, so I plan to give it a second try and hoping the other items I try are better. Also, there is a drive through but it took quite a while to get through it.

Always up for some Greek food, I decided to give King Gyros a try for lunch. They offered take out only because of the quarantine, so I got my food from the drive thru. The restaurant can easily be spotted from the road as it is a big yellow building with red trim. It was quite busy when I went on a Friday afternoon and there were probably 5 cars ahead of me in the drive thru. I ordered a gyro with a small side of fries and extra tzatziki. The meal was just under $10 and boy was it a ton of food! The gyro itself was pretty good, pita was soft, meat was tender and the tzatziki was more creamy than others I have tried. The fries were a bit soggy but then again I ate the food about 20 minutes after ordering it since I got it to-go. Overall, nice little joint on the near south side of Indy for fast, good food at a fair price. Of note, although it is called "King Gyros" they offer much more than just gyros!

I can say that the Gyro has a lot of chicken on it and big chicken which is awesome

You guys never fail me! That gyro, that falafel -- you can never go wrong with. They're always PACKED with ingredients. And that chicken over rice? What is the crack you put in this?? I need to know because it's so good that I ignore my GERD and eat this.

4.29.24 @1:30 pm - walked in and ordered a small gyro salad from king gyros for $8+. The small salad was very large with lots of gyro meat. The salad itself was fresh and crisp with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, black olives, feta cheese, cucumber, yellow peppers all tossed in a delicious vinaigrette dressing. The cashier was nice. The atmosphere seemed pleasant enough. I ordered to-go.

Stupid good. Top 2 gyro I've ever had: Pita: soft, chewy, but doesn't fall apart Meat: flavorful but not overly greasy or salty Toppings: fresh and refreshing but not overpowering Moz sticks: perfection. Will be back.

Not the double that ordered nor is it cooked

They going to get someone seriously sick. Visit at your own risk. Order is wrong also

Ate here again last week and it's still really fresh and good. The owner is so nice. He had extra fries he just cooked and let me have some. It was alot.....but very nice. Its not in a great neighborhood. The inside needs so remodeling and paint. So keep that in mind when eating inside.

Gyro Plate, extra pita. Notice the 2 tomatoes, onions, and the piece of feta... or lack thereof.
    Irish B.

I ordered a Gyro plate with an extra pita. The meat provided was "sufficient" for 2 pitas. I received 2 pieces of tomatoes and a "scant" amount of onions. The feta cheese was barely enough for one pita. The dill pickle was fresh and crisp, and the tzatziki sauce was good. The food temperature was good. The ice tea dispenser was empty. When I mentioned that there was no raspberry tea, the girls response was, "we didn't turn it on." The restaurant was filthy, from the door handle that led in, to the tabletops and floors. If you want to see the largest contrast in King Gyros, if you're ever up in Plymouth, IN, check out the one there. You won't go away hungry there! For almost $17.00, I won't be back to this location again. Sad, because I've generally had good luck at these restaurants. There must be something about the cleanliness in this chain. None of them are "clean," but this one and the one in Bloomington are borderline needing to be checked out by the health department.

Still a huge fan of this place and my go-to is the Gyro Salad. It's a delicious house-dressed Greek salad topped with gyro meat, huge cubes of feta, juicy pepperonci and kalamata olives. Now, I usually throw the olives out the window, but what are ya gonna do? It's very good and is a far better option for getting-less-fat-me than the option with pita and french fries. I realize that I say that I'm a huge fan a lot. For this review and others, my intent is to portray a strong desire to continue to patronize this location and encourage you to do the same. It is not a literal statement relating to my size.

Located in a cute blue house, this is conveniently located near Lucas Oil Stadium and there was a huge concert going on the night we were there, but we were still allowed to park in their parking area. Inside has nice lighting and is pretty plain but has a homey feel. The menu contains many items we're familiar with having visited Greece twice. So I'm going to be a little critical here with my review of the food. I ordered the Greek Spaghetti, which I have had in Greece. Unfortunately this was not at all what I was expecting or anything like Greek spaghetti. What I was served was basically Prego spaghetti sauce with pieces of gyro in it. Traditional Greek spaghetti (or Makaronia me Kima) is a wonderful sauce that's seasoned with all kinds of memorable spices. It's definitely not pieces of gyro meat thrown in a sauce. So while this was fine, it was not what I truly wanted or thought I was getting so I was pretty disappointed. My husband got the chicken souvlaki and that was better but still not quite like what I remember. The meat was almost smoked and lacked some of the Greek spices that gives it a distinct taste. And the tzatziki...well, let's just say it tastes like whipped feta and was lacking in flavor too. I did enjoy the pita bread. Our service was underwhelming as well. It took a while for anyone to notice we were there and needed to be seated and the server basically did the bare minimum, never even asking if we wanted our water refilled. Overall, it was fine. If I had never been to Greece, I may have a different opinion but this isn't someplace I really want to go back to.

The entire place is covered with the evil eye charms, so you should definitely be safe here. I highly recommend reservations because they sure get busy. And while the ambiance is great, you really cannot linger for long, as there are usually folks waiting to get a seat. The menu is quite extensive and offers plenty for carnivores and vegetarians alike. I opted for the Iskender, which is crisp pita bread pieces topped with meat slices, all of it doused in a savory tomato based sauce and topped with dollops of yoghurt. The bread has little crisp edges and together with the meat and toppings gives you like a mini sandwich in your mouth. Simply delicious. The Turkish spices bring a wonderful flavor to the dish. I highly recommend it. Hat to admit it, but I have not been too impressed with the tzaziki on previous visits. It was somewhat runny and bland, but I haven't had in a while. Street parking is limited, but in the summer there is a gravel lot on the side of the neighboring building. However when it snows, parking can be a bit of a problem, so be aware.

Then we waited to be noticed by the wait staff. And we waited, and waited. It took 17 minutes before anyone came to our table. We would have left but we had a $50 gift certificate to use. Finally someone came over. We ordered teas & an appetizer of flaming saganaki. We found it very tasty. For entered I ordered the Greek meatball sandwich. My wife got a cup of egg lemon bowl ( which is a soup she loves) & Keftethes ( with beef meatballs). I found the fries god & the meatballs & bread decent but the sauce was a little off to me which greatly reduced my enjoyment. It was just ok. My wife thought the soup was a bit thin but overall god with a strong lemon flavor. Her entree the meatballs were good, the green beans were cold & the roasted potatoes were decent. Overall she was meh. We ordered desserts to go. Baklava, Galaktoboureko ( custard in philo dough) & Oreo cake. Wife thought the baklava had an overpowering cinnamon taste which hurt it. The Galaktoboureko was basically sugar cream pie with philo crust. I thought it was ok but wife thought it should have been thinner. She also believes the to go containers aren't sufficient for these desserts due to the sugar syrup. The "Oreo cake" had one cookie to the side & was dry. When we gave the waitress our gift certificate she said they would take that off when they rang up the bill. She came back & the gift certificates were not taken off. I pointed this out to her & she went back to talk to whoever is running the register. When she came back she said she has no idea what's going on but they gave me a $50 bill to credit the $50 in gift certificates. My amazing wife surmised that they credited someone else's bill & gave us the $50 to make it right for us. Bottom line is all the staff we interacted with were friendly but the restaurant is very disorganized. Food was just ok. Can't say we were impressed.
