I was in the mood for a Gyro, the meat was the dry crusty outer layer, every bit of the Gyro was the same. It went straight to the garbage I would not recommend this restaurant.

50 Wings

We love the chicken wings so much we have made them part of our annual Thanksgiving feast and they go quickly. We preordered and everything was ready when I arrived. Parking is plentiful anytime I go there it's affordable. I recommend the chicken and don't pass on the lemon pepper!

Lemon Pepper French Fries

This is a go to place for me because it's minutes from my house. They have great lunch specials. Boneless wings are HUGE! I like that they will split the sauce on an 8 piece order. The French fries are some of the best in the city. Sometimes I order a basket for them and ask for extra lemon pepper seasoning. My favorite is the Italian Beef(double dip) with giardiniera. If you like shrimp it's not to be missed either. Every order has been a solid meal and I've probably eaten there 50+ times.

Hello Dedrian here!! This was a very respectful and clean establishment, as soon as I walked in I felt welcomed and was surrounded by authenticity. The staff were very friendly , they had a wide selection of food for someone just stopping by , and as a avid gyro consumer , the gyro was very very good , I highly recommend this restaurant. Big thumbs up for me

15pc wings w/fries

There's a new restaurant open in the southwest pocket of Indy: Chicago Fish Chicken & Gyros. I'm not sure if it is connected to the one on the far east side, but this spot is located in a small stripmall along SR 67 before you reach Heartland Crossing. I went in on their opening weekend and found that they have dine in seating but no waiting service, so you need to place your order at the counter at the back of the dining area. They don't have overhead menus, so you need to find one of their printed menus at the counter or on a side table. The menu has a large number of options; many would be suitable for family dinners or even tailgaiting. The menu has categories including Chicago Style Sandwiches, Middle East Style Food, Wings, Tenders, and Fish. They also plan on having lunch specials (Mon-Fri) for about $7 including fries and drink. I decided to get a gyro (comes with fries & drink) and an order of 15 pc wings (with fries). I paid and was told to give them about 15 minutes. While I waited, I could see that if they want this to be more of a dine-in restaurant, they would benefit from a bit more decoration and fewer large tables so that individuals or couples could find a spot without taking up a large bench. They could also use some individual chairs for people waiting for their "to go" orders. When I got home, I tried the gyro first. Really good sandwich with enough flavor to be enjoyable. The meat was not dry and had just enough sauce to blend with the spices. The fries were also freshly made, but I was not offered any ketchup for them. The fries were seasoned with salt, so I didn't need any additional amount. The chicken wings (I got full wings, but half wings are also available) were served in an aluminum container along with the fries and topped with foil. They were still hot when I got home and I could see they were heavily seasoned. Good flavor, but leaning towards too much salt. The fries were plentiful too. But here's the problem: Packaging a large number of wings and fries together allows their internal heat to continue cooking them. The chicken can become dry inside while the fries pick up the steam from being enclosed and can become a bit soggy. When I got home, I immediately pulled the foil back to and separated the fries to allow the chicken to be spread out. I quick baked the fries at 400 for a few minutes to restore their crispness. I would also have liked to see dipping sauce (Ranch Dressing w/celery sticks) offered for the wings. As is, the salty taste accumulated. With some sauce, it might not be as noticeable. Like with the ketchup, it was a problem I solved at home. But if you are buying and don't have access to items in your fridge, you might be disappointed. I hope that the owners will also put their phone number on a banner or in large letters on their window. If it takes 15 minutes for a meal, letting people know their number so they can call ahead would be really helpful. Although there were a few minor disappointments, I think they can iron things out and become a nice addition to a well traveled, but sparsely populated area. Review #3533

There's a bar as well but I didn't sample this time. Planning to come back during a happy hour! Food was also good! I definitely suggest ordering the breadsticks because it's a good amount and a great appetizer for the table. We also had breaded chicken and fries. I definitely appreciated that they weren't constantly approaching me, but they read my cues with knowing when I was ready to order or needed something. I was really pleased with the service that I received. The menu had a mixture of American comfort food as well as classic Southern dishes. I took several glances at the food other were ordering and they all looked so appealing and appetizing. I decided to order something that I haven't tried anywhere else, so I ordered the Southern Shakshuka, which is their own unique spin-off to the original. I will start with sides. The greens, better than I ever had including AL, MS, LA and TN. Slaw was classic LA. Good, I am vinger slaw guy. Now for the chicken. First and foremost the medium is no joke HOT. Anyone can make something hot. But the flavor of the hotness is world class. Whatever they do, (brine whatever) the flavor is deep in the meat, including the breast. Absolutely fantastic. My only advice is if you find a raw jalapeno to hot, go one level down in spice. Unless you can set an eat raw Serranos, don't pay .$50 to go spicier. Who would have thought, amazing hot chicken, Indy.

It honestly hurt to see all that chicken go directly into the garbage, but they claim it was inedible. Since it's not a saucy type of flavoring, but a dry rub, they said that the heat was painful, and not flavorful. Back to the sandwich I enjoyed... I felt that there was a sweetness to the flavor that I liked, which I could see not everyone enjoying. There is also a hot dusting over the french fries which exacerbates any discomfort people are having from the heat. There really wasn't anything to cool it down. The macaroni and cheese was piping hot, although not spicy.

It's counter service with clear menu boards on the wall, making ordering easy. I had the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon and an egg and... my goodness. So incredibly delicious. One friend ordered the same grits but swapped in fried catfish instead of bacon--also a fantastic choice. Our third went with a classic plate with eggs and bacon, and let me tell you, the bacon is thick and plentiful. We ordered a side of fries for the table and there were more than enough to share. Self-serve coffee with all the fixings is a nice touch, and the service was friendly and welcoming. Fun atmosphere, great food, solid portions--definitely will be back.

Stopped in here for brunch this past Sunday with my husband because we had been wanting to try it…read moreout for a while and had mixed feelings. We were greeted right away and looked over the menu a bit before ordering. My husband ordered the country breakfast with chicken (definitely the way to go) and I ordered the cheesy jalapeño grits with bacon. We each got a cup for water and I ordered a coffee, excited because I saw ahead of going that it was self-serve (like at Cafe Patachou where I can get as many coffees as I like without having to wait for our server to come check on us first). However, the self serve coffee excitement was short-lived after seeing that they only offered half and half as creamer (I'm lactose intolerant) and the two coffee carafes were not labeled for what was inside (decaf? medium roast? you'll never know!) and then one was completely empty and never refilled during our visit. The water station also was not ever refilled during our visit, so we were not able to get refills after filling up our cups the first time. It took a couple of tries to find a table we could sit at because you seat yourself, but several had not been cleaned after other guests left and had food and drinks spilled on them. There were definitely enough staff members there to be able to clean them in between customers, so we weren't sure why they were left that way. We ended up sitting in the middle of the room towards the front, across from the clown art wall, which made for interesting conversation as we looked through everything. When the food came out I was impressed with the portions, but I had no flavor whatsoever to my cheesy jalepeno grits. The egg and bacon were good, but not enough to make it a good dish and I would not order it again. And I love savory breakfast and grits in general, so it was a real bummer. My husband's dish was worth the visit though. It was a huge portion size and we honestly would just split it if we came back and ordered it. It was so savory, seasoned perfectly, and juicy. One of the best breakfast dishes I have tried recently! I really debated between 3-4 stars for this, but my dish was a flop, the lack of cleanliness for the seating area, the lackluster self-serve coffee station, and not refilling the beverages ultimately scored a 3 star review for me. I would come back and try something else though, or split the country chicken breakfast because it was really good. Hopefully next time the beverages won't be empty!
