    Dozen donuts
    Jim W.

Used to love King Donuts. This trip, the donuts tasted like rotten oil. They lacked flavoring in the icing. Usually, everybody grabs a second donuts, but not this time. They all tasted poorly. The service was quick and quasi friendly. As far as ambiance, it was just a donuts shop lobby.

DO NOT PARK THERE!! Not even for 5min!!! the donuts are not worth your time nor the tow!!!

The owner will TOW YOUR CAR at all expense. He CALLS THE TOW COMPANY. What a jerk, why can't he just be nice and allow people to park a few minutes on his EMPTY parking lot? NOT EVEN A ROACH IN SIGHT. AND HE HAD MY CAR TOWED. Wow. All the previous times that I had been into his business to buy donuts never again!!!

Maple glazed with chopped roasted peanuts! Yummy!

Just what I was looking for for my work crew! So Good and fresh! Get there by 7 am. The counter gal was sweet and fast and knew just what to add to my two dozen request!

A bakery case full of King Donuts!

Meh. Dry donuts, too sweet, lots of flies. Also, overpriced at $1.00 per donut. Would have been better off at 7-11.

I'm sorry but these donuts are terrible. Dry, not much flavor... and I've had these on several occasions. Roth's or even Daynite is better.

By far, the best donuts in Salem, run by the nicest people. Nothing more needs to be said.

This is the only good donut place in Salem. Yes, they have weird hours, but it's because they make fresh, quality donuts.

It's on a cute street in the heart of downtown, just blocks from the riverfront. It's a small space with a couple of indoor tables and a few tables on the sidewalk. We were greeted warmly and given time to look over the menu and space to ask questions. We went with a dozen, 2 of each flavor, and a couple of drinks. We all really enjoyed the cinnamon sugar, which was served piping hot. My husband loved the maple. My favorites were the lemon poppyseed and the chocolate, which tasted a lot like a brownie. My daughter's favorite was the s'mores, you could definitely taste the marshmallow in the glaze. It's astonishing that these are vegan and gluten free! They were better than I expected, better than a "regular" one. My daughter got their strawberry matcha and declared it better than any she had in Japan. It had strawberry puree on the bottom and was dusted with strawberry on top. We also tried their seasonal latte, which was good! This will be a must visit anytime we are remotely near Salem and we would love to see them open a spot in Portland! Just putting that into the universe.

The donuts are self-serve with trays and tongs. They had a wide variety available. I selected a original glazed, a pretty in pink (strawberry glazed), a chocolate and a pandan. I also ordered two K-dogs (Korean-style elevated corn dogs), and a classic pearl milk tea with the standard brown sugar boba. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes. My drink was a pretty standard boba drink. Good, but nothing special. The drinks are very customizable, with ice amount and sweetness level just two of the options. The K-dogs were really tasty. I got an Potato Dog (which is a corn dog covered with crispy potato cubes and served with a fry sauce). The other dog I chose was the Gochujang Dog: their standard corn dog with Gochujang sauce. You have the option of having your K-Dog stuffed with mozzarella, a hotdog, or half hotdog and half mozzarella. I did half dog, half mozzarella on both. The cheese made the K-Dogs like huge fried mozzarella sticks. I enjoyed both, they were huge, and I ended up splitting them with a friend. I had both sauces on the side as my order was to go, and both complimented the rich cheese/dogs nicely. The fry sauce was rich and tangy, and the Gochujang a little spicy and a little sweet. The donuts were good too. This was my first time trying mochi donuts. The mochi flour gives the donuts a firmer and denser texture than your standard donut. I love other mochi desserts, but here I missed the lightness and melt-in-your-mouth quality of regular donuts. That is more of a personal preference, but something to be aware of, especially if you are sensitive to textures in food. It seemed like most of the individual flavors of each donut came more from the toppings rather than the donut itself. That isn't unusual with donuts of any kind. The service was awesome, and I was intrigued most by the K-Dogs. I will be back when I am in the mood for an different kind of treat.

They weren't parked at river front any more so I tracked their number down threw yelp. Andrea who's the owner of the business was super friendly and even offered to deliver me 6 mini vegan donuts to wherever I was!!! Not only vegan donuts but delivered right to me! We decided to try the Nashville chicken breast with hot chili oil on the side. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spicy. I also ordered the lemon poppy seed slaw. Our friends got the salmon Chowdah and also some spicy chicken with Cajun fries. They remarked that the salmon chowder pronounced Chowdah looked to be quite thick and was very flavorful. I gotta say it was some of the best fried chicken I ever sampled. The slaw was very tasty as well. Great combination of savory and sweet. My daughter and I split an order of chicken as we wanted to sample the beignets. We ordered the Killa bees and they came out fluffy and hot with a very nice honey drizzle. Ryan also gifted us with a second order of beignets of our own choosing, and we asked for the Good God Lemon ones, and they were very sweet and tangy. For the five of us the bill came to right around a hundred dollars which being from California I found very reasonable. It's a small place, and you order first at the counter and then go and find a table. If you are looking for some very tasty chicken this side of Nashville you should stop by and order some at this unique place in Salem Oregon.
