By the time my uncle and I made it over to 'The Yard' Mr. Tukufu had already sold most of his food, it had apparently been a very good day for him, understandably so. Nevertheless, we ordered some leg quarters and he kindly obliged despite appearing to be worn out from the long day. When we came back around to pick up the food I was shocked at the size and weight of the take out bag that was given to us. Mr. Tukufu had certainly hooked us up and when we got back to the hotel we had an absolute feast. I am confident in saying this was the best soul food I have ever had. No apologizes, non remorse, it was our fault for not knowing that if we don't text our orders in, it was our fault that we get zero priority in having our food prepared. She was happy enough to refund a few of our group members charges, but no attempt to make anything right or prioritize any differently. A few "texted" orders still came and picked up their food shortly after. What did I learn about this experience then? 1) They prioritize all text orders over walkups. Nobody else had placed a walk up order for at least 20 minutes prior to some of our group and texted orders were still being handed out first. 2) The owner is combative when the situation isn't ideal. She's been doing this for six years she told us, she knows how to run this. Well, I don't write a lot of bad reviews as I feel that most situations don't warrant hurting someone's business.
