It's a small space with a couple of indoor tables and a few tables on the sidewalk. We were greeted warmly and given time to look over the menu and space to ask questions. We went with a dozen, 2 of each flavor, and a couple of drinks. We all really enjoyed the cinnamon sugar, which was served piping hot. My husband loved the maple. My favorites were the lemon poppyseed and the chocolate, which tasted a lot like a brownie. My daughter's favorite was the s'mores, you could definitely taste the marshmallow in the glaze. It's astonishing that these are vegan and gluten free! They were better than I expected, better than a "regular" one. My daughter got their strawberry matcha and declared it better than any she had in Japan. It had strawberry puree on the bottom and was dusted with strawberry on top. We also tried their seasonal latte, which was good! This will be a must visit anytime we are remotely near Salem and we would love to see them open a spot in Portland! On a recent visit to Salem, I decided to take a break from all the holiday eating and go for a brisk walk. I was doing pretty well, until three miles into my walk....I spotted the storefront of Daisy's Mexican Bakery. I knew I shouldn't but figured that my walk had earned me one last Christmas present to myself. So I went in. Wow...it was like being back in San Juan Capistrano. Three shelved cases filled with glorious pastries and rolls. I couldn't decide on one, so I got two: a sweet roll topped with a sugar icing (not sure what it's called, but I call it heavenly) and a long simple roll topped with butter and sugar. I ate them both. Oh, and guess how much they cost? $1.35 TOTAL! What???!! All I can say is that it's a good thing I don't live in Salem or I would be a regular in no time. I needed the order 2 days later for out of town and worked during their business hours except the day I stopped by. I got a disgustingly rude phone call that night after they closed from someone telling me I lied to the cashier about being told over the phone I didnt have to leave any money. When all I said was 'I'm so sorry I wasn't told over the phone so I didn't even think about it so I don't have my wallet on me' The woman over the phone was awful and told me she wouldn't make my order and it wasn't her problem that I didn't have my wallet. I had to be late to work the next day by 2 hours to find a bakery that could make an order with a one day notice for the event out of town. I had been a long time customer and have not returned since. They have limited options and their customer service is disgusting. I speak both Spanish and English so there were no miscommunications with either of the people I dealt with. Incredibly disappointing.

Crap! We should have been coming here from day 1! The donuts are way better than the franchise chain that should go un-named. There are two (both have consonants for their initials) and yet Daynight Donuts beats them both. Serious. I had the long john and while I was fully expecting it to have a crème filling, it was still very good and was gone in about a minute. Other people in our party had donut holes and also a chocolate glazed. Both people finished their donuts in minutes as well. We were served by a very young man that was polite and personable. Kinda worried about him if he gotta work the overnight shift and what people may come in during the evening hours. Hope there is others working in the back to watch out for him. So if you are coming into South Salem, stop by and prove me wrong and tell me their donuts are terrible. If you do, you simply have no taste because Daylight Donuts are the
