I have been coming here for years, they always had the best Donuts. I have noticed a change in the last few years, getting very expensive $10 for a half a dozen?? Wholly shit! The biggest problem is the woman that is usually there, the husband was always friendly and fun to talk with but his wife is another story. She is just rude and very unfriendly and always has the damn mask on. Never understood why he was with her, opposites thru and thru. The donuts seem to be not as good as they used to be. They even took out the seating, WTH??!! I told her it was a bad idea, she said to much hassle. What?? Come in get a couple of donuts and a coffee, very nice even with the grumpy one serving us. She seems to act like she doesn't want to be there, fine stay home and employ some who cares instead. We have several better alternatives thankfully. read more

Come here for the donuts, not for the vibes. Pretty solid selection of classic donuts, $1.50 each or $16 for a dozen. Donut holes are$4 per dozen. Texture and taste of donuts are really good. Flavors and types of donuts are classic, nothing too fancy - is my favorite, the comfort donut type. Friendliness and customer service are nonexistent. A few months ago a coworker brought in a box of donuts and they were actually fresh and delicious! I begged for the name of the shop she got them from and it was kings donuts. While waiting for a table at Word of Mouth, we decided to check out the donuts and coffee or Coke if you prefer at the King Donuts. Some of our group had had a particularly rough night the night before (read hungover--ah to be young again) so I decided we needed to get some coffee and food in them STAT. This worked like a champ. We put our name on the list for the restaurant across the street and had a pregame of coffee and donuts. The donuts were freshly made and quite tasty we had some maple bars and an apple fritter both were big and were made to be shared or to save some for later. While we were there many folks came and got boxes to go. This is clearly a fun stop on a Sunday morning. I will definitely try it again. read more

My only criticism is that I didn't feel there was a great deal of selection (mainly just plain, chocolate, and maple). Would have liked some vanillas and maybe an almond bear claw. I had previously stopped going here, but thought I give them another try on Sunday since I didn't get to my favorite donut place Bearscat Donuts on Saturday. I am sad to say, I will not be returning. I asked for twisted glazed donuts, they said they don't carry such a thing! I know they do. Whatever... They need bigger boxes so they don't have to cram a dozen donuts into one box stacked upright so they touch and each other, and the frosting, glaze or sugar comes off onto the next donut or the lid of the box. Before I start this review I want to say, I love Sunday mornings with donuts, the sunday paper, and coffee !!! It doesnt happen often that I have all 3..lol, but thats my ideal morning. That being said, I was ecstatic to wake up to my boyfriend surprising me with donuts & the Sunday paper. Not just any donuts though,lol.. these were King Donuts !!! I love donuts from here because they taste delicious even hours after you buy them. Moist on the inside but still has a crispness to the outside. I used to get my donuts from another place & King donuts are better stale than the other donuts taste fresh..lol..Other people love the donuts as well, so you have to make sure you go earlier in the morning. This is my favorite donut shop in Oregon. Great selection of donuts, the owners are very friendly and accomodating. I'm a sucker for a good donut shop and this place is definitely top of the list in Salem. Not too sweet and not dense and dry like a lot of the other donut shops I've been to in the area. They were out of pink sprinkles donuts, which my son loves, so they made a couple specifically just for him, which I thought was very cool and sweet of them! 10/10 recommended them for their friendliness, delicious donuts, and variety. read more

Don't bother visiting this establishment. If you want any kind of quality donut, you're better off visiting the grocery store or even the gas station across the street. Don't be fooled into believing these donuts are any better than Hostess donuts you can get at the store. Went there to get a donut while we waited for our table at Word of Mouth across the street (great restaurant, highly recommended) and they were closed. Parking signs don't indicate that it's King Donuts patrons only but the owner, while closed on a Sunday, called to have our car towed...in an empty parking lot. All other lots in the vicinity indicated what authorized vehicles were allowed. $391 later we found out that the owner of Kings Donuts called to have our car towed from their empty lot even though they weren't even open on Sunday. Sadly, I have to write a low review for this place. Came in last week to buy a box of donuts for my staff meeting. I commute into Salem so on arrival I needed to use the restroom, as I was washing up out from behind the toilet runs this little guy , I screamed so loud which isn't my normal reaction to mice but hey I was wearing flip flops and like "oh goodness please do not run over my feet" or worse up my long flowing summer dress. The donuts are great here but this completely ruined it for me. Now I am not that naive, I mean most restaurants and especially older buildings have trouble keeping rodents out but if he is out in the daylight that tells me he might just be a little too comfortable. As a professional donut critic from Canada now living in Seattle, I can honestly say that this place is the best donut shop I've ever been to. Voodoo Donuts is more of a specialty shop and comparing a plain chocolate donut, side by side, I'd vote King Donuts rather easily. Also, their blueberry muffins are hands down the best I've ever had in my life. Period. Light and fluffy and filled with juicy blueberries. The service is great and they are always throwing in a few donut holes for the kids. Don't let the humble surroundings fool you. It's consistently that good. read more
