Always my go to in Salem, i love their donuts especially the french toast and chocolate one

Coconut Cream Donut, Spinach Feta Pastry, Boston Cream Donut, Cruffin (filled with cream)
Sam J.

Get the cruffin, that cruffin was the best thing that's ever happened to me, so flaky, so crispy, perfect amount of cream inside, sugar on the outside. Why I didn't get a box of four cruffins? I'll be asking that question for the rest of my life. Long line but short wait, very efficient.

Cinnamon rolls, strawberry shortcake donut, toasted coconut donut and ham and cheese croissants.

My husband did some research to find me a good cinnamon roll this morning. He found the dough hook and we tried it, even though it was on Lancaster, the dead zone for good food. We arrived a little before they opened and we were not the first there. It gave us a chance to see our options. Instead of buying 2 cinnamon rolls, we bought two cinnamon rolls, two ham and cheese croissants, toasted coconut donut and strawberry shortcake donut. PHENOMENAL! My favorite was the strawberry shortcake, but they were all amazing. I understand why they already have two locations. We will be back. Friendly and helpful service and clean.

Literally the best donut I ever had! When we walked in it didn't look like there were many options left but it didn't matter because what they did have was mind blowing good. If you are anywhere near this place you must stop, must!

Yum!! These doughnuts are big and delicious. Loved the spinach and feta for a savory breakfast. The dough was so flaky and delicious and the doughnuts were packed with flavor.

Strawberry shortcake

Life's too short for basic donuts. At Dough Hook, no donut is boring (except maybe the "simple" donut). I had a strawberry shortcake and a horchata. They were meant to be rationed across two days, I ended up devouring both within the hour. This is one of those situations where I wish I could go back and try every item on the menu. The pudgy waist wouldn't be happy, but how can you say no to Grandma's Hot Chocolate? Inside was pretty minimal. There's no seating, it's an order at the counter and go affair. Sample donuts are on display so you know what you're ordering and what they look like. Each one is aesthetic and destined for social media. But it's not just eye candy. If you're in the area, give it a try

This bake shop gets a high review because the donuts are fun, flavors are creative, and they taste good too! Baked onsite with a small but highly capable crew, the customer service didn't disappoint either. My cashier was Ángeles, and while I'm sure that's not all they do, they were patient and kind as I decided on my half dozen with a couple extras. (not pictured: crème brûlée and maple bacon donut, and the chocolate croissant, and berry danish) The lobby is small and can't fit many customers at once. Their menu board is cool, and jam packed with options, which is great but will take some time to get through unless you already know what you want. Outside the donut shop (it's in a tucked away mini strip mall area off Lancaster) the parking lot is unkempt which I didn't enjoy. Not sure if they offer premium coffee (espresso, latte, etc) but if they don't they should. One of their maple bacon donuts or chocolate croissants with a breve latte would SLAP! Hope this business is able to expand to a larger location with seating and a little ambiance. I can tell the business owner(s) have style. I'll definitely be going back!

It's a small space with a couple of indoor tables and a few tables on the sidewalk. We were greeted warmly and given time to look over the menu and space to ask questions. We went with a dozen, 2 of each flavor, and a couple of drinks. We all really enjoyed the cinnamon sugar, which was served piping hot. My husband loved the maple. My favorites were the lemon poppyseed and the chocolate, which tasted a lot like a brownie. My daughter's favorite was the s'mores, you could definitely taste the marshmallow in the glaze. It's astonishing that these are vegan and gluten free! They were better than I expected, better than a "regular" one. My daughter got their strawberry matcha and declared it better than any she had in Japan. It had strawberry puree on the bottom and was dusted with strawberry on top. We also tried their seasonal latte, which was good! This will be a must visit anytime we are remotely near Salem and we would love to see them open a spot in Portland! Just putting that into the universe.

The donuts are self-serve with trays and tongs. They had a wide variety available. I selected a original glazed, a pretty in pink (strawberry glazed), a chocolate and a pandan. I also ordered two K-dogs (Korean-style elevated corn dogs), and a classic pearl milk tea with the standard brown sugar boba. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes. My drink was a pretty standard boba drink. Good, but nothing special. The drinks are very customizable, with ice amount and sweetness level just two of the options. The K-dogs were really tasty. I got an Potato Dog (which is a corn dog covered with crispy potato cubes and served with a fry sauce). The other dog I chose was the Gochujang Dog: their standard corn dog with Gochujang sauce. You have the option of having your K-Dog stuffed with mozzarella, a hotdog, or half hotdog and half mozzarella. I did half dog, half mozzarella on both. The cheese made the K-Dogs like huge fried mozzarella sticks. I enjoyed both, they were huge, and I ended up splitting them with a friend. I had both sauces on the side as my order was to go, and both complimented the rich cheese/dogs nicely. The fry sauce was rich and tangy, and the Gochujang a little spicy and a little sweet. The donuts were good too. This was my first time trying mochi donuts. The mochi flour gives the donuts a firmer and denser texture than your standard donut. I love other mochi desserts, but here I missed the lightness and melt-in-your-mouth quality of regular donuts. That is more of a personal preference, but something to be aware of, especially if you are sensitive to textures in food. It seemed like most of the individual flavors of each donut came more from the toppings rather than the donut itself. That isn't unusual with donuts of any kind. The service was awesome, and I was intrigued most by the K-Dogs. I will be back when I am in the mood for an different kind of treat.

They weren't parked at river front any more so I tracked their number down threw yelp. Andrea who's the owner of the business was super friendly and even offered to deliver me 6 mini vegan donuts to wherever I was!!! Not only vegan donuts but delivered right to me! I also had warm rye bread. Not toasted. We were half done with our breakfast, and was given the bill, and boxes to go. Very rushed, crowded, and expensive. $58 for sub-par breakfast for 2.
