Macaroons were a solid 2.5/10 This may be probably the second or third biggest letdown of all time for me when it comes down to food . The macaroons taste quite literally like cardboard . Cardboard with a tad bit of flavor. They're extremely hard and stale, they're almost like chips . They look great, but they taste awful.. I mean, these are definitely the worst macros I've ever had in my life by a long shot. I mean, I literally bought some grocery store macaroons one time out of the box that I've been sitting there for God knows how long and they were at least five times better than these . Now I don't make reviews often, so I apologize if this may come off as rude, crude, or crass. But for a company who has an item they sell as the name for their business I'd figure that they'd know how to create said item correctly. My parenter got me a cannoli for my birthday treat yesterday and after the candle was blown, the song sang I reached for the Cannoli and it broke. Ok no biggie I can still-aaaaand there's no filling on the inside... Just'a space where the filling should be and about an inches worth of filling on either end. For an extra $2 I could have had a delicious mouthwatering slice of cheesecake from Konditorei. Buuuut I wanted to switch it up this year... silly me! read more

For a special holiday event, I stopped by to check out this sweet little spot. Everything in the display was beautiful and I chose the cannoli. Nice bakery with a large selection of pastries. Problem was the cannoli's were made with some kind of candy shell versus the proper flaky pastry shell. Very disappointing considering their name is a Cannoli bakery. Their excuse was that the pastry shell gets soggy if it's not eaten right away. Well... my corn flakes get soggy if I don't eat them right away too, but that doesn't stop me from eating corn flakes. What the Cannoli bakery is selling is not a cannoli in my opinion. This place was really cute! It's pretty small inside but with surprisingly a lot of seating. I got the coconut Italian soda w/ cream and it was quite refreshing! I also got the pistachio macaron and the lavender & honey macaron(I wish I got pictures). The pistachio has a subtle, sweet yet nutty filling. The lavender honey was more on the sweeter side with notes of lavender. I think the filling tastes like raw honey(love!). When my family and I went, it looked like only 1 person was working so please be patient if you can, we had a pretty large order and it took a couple minutes to bring out. read more

The ambiance here is really cute and chill. There's so many delicious looking pastries to choose from. They also have biscuits and gravy , breakfast sandwiches, pizza, and coffee/tea to choose from. I currently utilize a coworking space in downtown Salem a couple times a week. Street parking in this area is free but limited to three hours per block from 8am-8pm. So around lunch time, I must move my car. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems, but it's really annoying! One day, I found a space right out front of Little Cannoli Bakery. I hadn't even known a bakery was in such close proximity, and what a way to cheer me out of my grumbly re-parking mood! Due to COVID, they currently are not allowing customers in shop. Instead, their treats are on display in cases pressed against the glass storefront. There are French macarons of every color, tarts, eclairs, napoleons, brownies, pies, cookies....well, you get the idea! They had a couple coffees available, and a menu for a few savory items, mostly breakfast sandwiches and individual pizzas. An employee takes your order, gathers your goodies, and off you go! Quite convenient. Of course, I had to get their namesake treat, though if there is a cannoli on offer, I'm always going to get it as I love them so. Thus, I've had my fair share and I'm ready to declare this the best one yet! They are fresh filled to order with one side dipped in pistachio dust, the other in chocolate chips. The shells are extraordinarily crispy, even more so as they are coated in a caramelized sugar crust. Whew! My rainbow cookie was dense, but moist. It had that familiar flavor all rainbow cookies have. I don't know how to describe it, except that it reminds me of boxed cake mix batter, but in a good way. Lastly, the dalmation cheesecake was not only adorably named, but absolutely delicious. Not too sweet + so plush and creamy. Prices felt a tad high though not enough to keep me away, and everything was wonderful so I'd say it's worth it. I'll certainly be back for more cannolis, and I desperately want to try the bag of giant chocolate dipped coconut macaroons! read more

As part of my effort to give thanks to great Salem businesses, I sincerely want to thank the owner--or whomever it was that waited on me this morning, AND the very funny other customer--for being funny and kind and friendly. I was having a down morning after dealing with loud neighbors all night, and feeling weary. This place has a warm and wonderful neighborhood-bakery vibe. They are located in that little park (see photo) with a few outdoor tables to a lovely view, and although I always walk there, they seem to have plenty of street and garage parking for those who drive. I had a regular coffee with a shot of espresso, made perfectly. I also got a breakfast sandwich that included egg, cheese, sausage and I think pepperoni, in a fresh bun, so decadently delicious. But TBH, I have been here numerous times before for a cannoli. They nail it! They are made to order, and they often ask if you're planning to put it in your fridge and have it later, because if you do, all cannoli lovers know the shell will get soggy, which is not a fair and true representation of how delicious their cannoli shells are when eaten right away. The filling is spot-on (true cannoli people know what I mean) and I like the dark chocolate at the end for a creative twist. I brought home an espresso tart "for a friend" (okay, sure, it's for me, but FOR LATER...). Everything including coffee came to $18 and honestly that seems very fair considering it is all fresh and made on-site. Lastly, there's just a good "vibe" in this bakery. Staff are always friendly and efficient every time I have been there, and the amount of beautiful and tempting-looking delicious freshly-baked items in their case will make you feel like a kid again, just looking at all of it, especially the colors and creative flavors of the macarons. I'm always on the lookout for a great bakery, especially ones that have things a bit off the beaten path, like classic Italian or French pastries, for example. Little Cannoli fits the bill, with not just the cannoli but everything else they have, from melt-in-your-mouth cookies to the ethereal cannoli. And the owner is wonderfully nice and helpful, especially for those of us who dither when making up our minds. Which is why I'm so sad that the management company at the Reed Opera House, Pennbrook, just unceremoniously gave the bakery a 30 DAY NOTICE to vacate, which apparently they're doing to other places too. Probably so the new CA owners of the Reed can add more of their own crappy places. It's shameful when a store that's practically an institution (I think the bakery has been there 15-20 years?) is pushed out like this. I really hope they find another place where they can open back up! read more

This little shop is located in a little shopping center where you can find ample parking, it's just a little tricky to find. When we first walked in we noticed a large glass shelves filled with a huge variety to tasty looking treats. They also had a few sandwich options to choose from as well. We ordered two cappuccinos which tasted burnt and one was so bad I could not drink it. We ordered a hot pastrami that came with a side of tomato soup. The pastrami was like none I've had before, it was more like one thicker slice of ham on garlic bread, it was nothing to rave home about, especially for $10. The pastries were the only thing we enjoyed. We got two macaroons (fruity pebbles & buttered pecan), tiramisu, cheesecake, coconut strawberry croissant which was kind of soggy and lacking of flavor, and one other pastry. The pastries were pretty small and over priced. I wanted to love this place but I don't think I'll be back. I'm sure they have plenty is tasty pastries so give it a try and let us know! There were chess boards in the seating area giving it a calming ambiance either plenty of room to sit. The girls working the counter were friendly and the place was clean.
