UPDATE The service outage was an anomaly. Several individuals were ill and couldn't be at work and one person could not successfully juggle everything. I received a call today. We've set up an appointment. I understand what went wrong maybe I overreacted a bit, but it was so different than my prior service experiences. Amber and John had high levels of customer service and found a solution for us that would work the best. We ended up settling on a water filter with no softener. The master plumber Todd came out on time, and performed the job cleanly. One small part was missing, and the owner came right over to replace it to ensure the job was completed on time. So A+ on customer service. The water filter did an incredible job filtering out chemicals; it was unbelievable how much better showering and other living functions were with the filter. I am bald so I often get scabs on the top of my head, which was caused by chlorine drying out my scalp. No more! Stuart came out, tested the water and his great understudy, Jeremy, installed a RO system under our kitchen sink and ran a RO line to our fridge. Our second home (Durham) is were his expertise shined! When we moved into our 25+ yr old home we got 3 quotes as we needed a new well pump, well tank, RO and softener (VERY hard water). We learned the hard way by going with a company that could "do it all" (with good reviews) as Stuart doesn't do wells and our choice turned into a nightmare. The newly installed softener head broke 3 x's thus causing a sulfur smell in our water as the lack of backwash contaminated the lines. Said company chlorinated and even replaced the softener fully, but could not remedy the smell. (Note: smell occurred only after softener head broke.) The kitchen RO tank was also not holding as much water as it could have and lacked pressure. New well pump fried as they forgot to ground it at the head. Back and forth and months of frustration we finally called Exquisite Air & Water for help. Stuart and I had many emails and phone calls determining how to proceed. His patience and knowledge a gift as we were distraught going through what I just mentioned. Under Stuart's discretion, kind and patient Jeremy placed a new easy to use softener system, carbon filter, and big blue pre-filter in. At first, I thought it was the screen in the faucet was plugged up and I'd get "round tuit" to clean it out, but when other faucets started to do the same thing, and realizing how old the water pump is (over 20 years old), I started to get nervous it was the pump. I searched Yelp and found Walter, and had a recommendation from a neighbor who used him. I gave him a call and he actually offered recommendations to check which I had done except one. Once I checked it and a couple of other things that triggered me to look at, I called him back and he said he'd come out the next day to look it over. He came out and reviewed the well plate to determine the size needed for a pump. He didn't have access to the crawlspace since I wasn't home so he couldn't check the pressure tank. He called to give me estimates for a new pump and put it on the calendar for the following morning. On the morning of the job, while we were talking, his 2 guys went under the house and came out saying the pressure tank was shot and needed replacing. Even though the pump is old, Walter still recommended keeping it and that if it went out, he would fix it soon after calling him. It was a no-brainer decision! His guys replaced it in about 30 mins...excellent and very efficient crew! While they were working on the pressure tank, I asked Walter about the annoying event every winter when the temps drop below 30... the well freezes even with insulation in the well housing. He explained what needed to be done, then found what was needed on the truck and pulled all the insulation and re-wrapped the pipes with foam insulation then put plastic over the top, under the cover, to keep the cold air out. He had the stuff and just went ahead and did the job. Excellent service.... efficient repair work.... quick response to a call... friendly and informative with years of experience (he's been doing it since he was 15)... goes the extra mile to service the customer. Folks, it doesn't get much better than this! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. Today's visit is why I'll keep doing business with them.
