We hired the remodeling portion of their company to redo two bathrooms. We had high hopes for the…read moreprojects, but unfortunately, we did not have the best experience working with this company. One of the issues we had was with their contractors for tile installation. The tiler initially installed a cracked tile. When we asked for it to be replaced, the tiler installed the tile from the wrong bathroom, so one tile looked different from the rest. When I pointed it out, he then pulled my husband aside and asked if we could just live with it. In the second bathroom, the tiler put the smallest tile cuts in the most visible places. When we asked the Project Manager to look into it, he said that the installer confessed he did not measure before beginning the project. Fortunately, the company fixed both situations, and while the outcome was sufficient, we were still concerned about the quality of their contractors. We had a good experience with the carpenters and electricians (although we found it was cheaper to hire our own electrician for some of the "extras" we wanted). The plumber was also friendly. However, on the first night the plumber installed the toilet, water came through our kitchen ceiling due to improper installation. Since it was late on Labor Day and we needed to stop the water promptly, we called an after-hours plumber to mitigate the damage rather than try to reach our Project Manager. We were disappointed when the company did not reimburse us the full amount for the after-hours plumber because we did not call the company's emergency line first. We were not aware the company offered an after-hours line. It was unfortunate that we were not given this information in advance. We recognize they were not obligated to reimburse us, and we do appreciate them paying for some of the fee, but it still left us with an out-of-pocket bill to remediate work done by their plumber, which was not ideal. Hopefully, the company is now letting new clients know about this number in advance before beginning remodels to avoid our issue. Ultimately, NC Water Heaters and Remodelling was on the more expensive end of the companies that we interviewed, so we were hoping for a less frustrating experience. We did, however, have a good experience working with our Project manager, the carpenters, and the electrician. The cabinet and granite company they contracted with also did superior work, so that was nice.

We hired NC Water Heaters / NC Home Remodeling to do a number of electrical, plumbing, and…read morecarpentry repairs on our house and it has been an extremely frustrating process to deal with them. Overall we had a number of issues with the quality of work and felt that we were overcharged when we saw the final product of what they did. It was not all bad, and specifically we felt that the electrician they sent was very helpful and did a great job. However, the problems that we had completely soured our opinions of NC Home Remodeling and we would not recommend them to anyone. The first issue was that they did an extremely sloppy job filling in the grout on our brick steps to the point that they had to send out people multiple times to try and clean up the job. We were told that the worker who messed up the job was let go which made us question why inexperienced people were being sent out to do jobs that they didn't know how to do. Additionally, when installing a new toilet, we realized after the job was done that the toilet that was installed was too big and no longer allowed the bathroom door to close. I don't know how the plumber missed this, but we had to get them back out to switch the toilets around. We also had them quote installing a railing in our attic, which they originally quoted at $850.00. When we saw the final product all they had done was drill a 2x4 to the wall and attach a piece of lattice to the side of the steps. The cost of materials must have been less than $50, taken less than an hour to install, and looks extremely amateurish. I have pictures attached, it looks terrible, the 2x4 isn't even sanded, doesn't go the full length of the stairs, and is nothing like what we expected. I emailed them about it and they said that they decided to go a different route from the original estimate and dropped the price to $400.00. I don't know if they would have dropped the price if we hadn't said anything, but if I had known this was the level of carpentry they were going to do I would have just done it myself. There were several other things we had to go back and forth on to make sure the work was actually done which just made it an exhausting process. We were billed $800.00 for a painter who was at the house for 1 hour and didn't paint two of the areas he was supposed to do, so they only dropped it down to $650.00 only after we pressed them on it. They also billed $250.00 for gutter cleaning which was never done, so we had to point that out and get them to take it off the invoice. I know that this company is mainly a water heaters company and I am guessing that they branched out to home remodeling because there is a high demand for the work, but it seems like they overextended themselves and do not have people who know what they are doing in this field. We will not work with them again and I would suggest that you look elsewhere for home remodeling work.
