I spent almost $300 to get a toilet unplugged, the tech came in, said it was going to be $288 as opposed to the $98 diagnostic fee(waived if work is done). So the tech tried to unplug, couldn`t, so he said we need a new toilet. Now the bill will be close to $1000! Really! At that time I told him to leave. Now I understand why they ask you to create an account and supply a debit/credit card ti make sure of payment. Just beware. So now my money went down the toilet but nothing else will. read more

This is a follow-up review because I believe in service after the sale, and if I don't get it, I like to let you know. They just dropped dropped several notches in my book. They neglected to get the final payment when service was completed. A month later they send me bill and try to charge me for using a credit card when I paid with a check. After I disputed the credit card charge, they send an invoice via mail, instead of e-mail, and they charge me a $60.92 late fee even though they dropped the ball. I guess they needed to get some money one way or another since they could not get the credit card fee. I paid them, for I know that when you cheat people you actually loose what you thought was a gain. Just know that unless I need them for warranty service I will never use them again. I caution anybody who would choose to. Now on to the Better Business Bureau and Facebook to make sure it doesn't happen to anybody else. read more

Alexander was an absolute nightmare. We did two installs with them as the first one was rocky (the workers dropped the unit down our attic stairs) but they made it right... the second install was awful - beyond awful - and it failed the Wake County Inspection due to a gas leak in my home. THEN... to make things even better, almost 4 years AFTER these two nightmares we get an e-mail that they're auditing their 2017 records and need to return again to our home because the permitting with the county was not done properly - so we get to deal with them once more. Pushy salespeople, overpriced when we comparison shopped, horrible installation experiences, and clearly not any bookkeeping or record keeping that I would ever wish to deal with again. read more

We absolutely love Alexander heating, air and plumbing! We have used them for six or seven years now, and they have never let us down: not once. Their technicians (and owners) are honest, reliable, very kind and incredibly knowledgeable. Skyler was our technician that came out today to service, and fix our heating and air-conditioning unit, and he was absolutely fabulous! As soon as he walked in, I felt as though we had been friends for years. He was incredibly professional, thorough, took pictures and went over everything before completing the work.... which I totally appreciated. *HIGHLY* recommend!! read more

WAAAYYYY overpriced! I had them come out deal with a leaky AC that needed to be replaced. The service guy was good but rates were ridiculous. $300 a lb for R2. (Other shops half that) The sales guy came out because we needed a new system... we got a quote for a new system. Luckily I kept shopping. I was able to receive 2 additional quotes. Same model numbers on their quotes. $4,000 cheaper! We went with 1 of the other guys who were an approved DUKE Energy Provider. I gave Alexander a chance to respond to why they were so much higher and they had no reason for it. The only reason why they are not a 1 is because Kevin the service tech was very nice and worked hard, correcting a drainage issue for us before we replaced the system with the other team. read more

UPDATED - See below. Not at all happy with last experience. I've had these guys out a few times for minor issues and each time they've turned up when they were supposed to, were polite and did a good job. Great job in some cases, and I had no reason to call anyone other than these guys. This time I called them out as a furnace was not working. Tech diagnosed this (correctly) as a seized inducer motor. So that's why they get the 2 stars. Now, I was told it could be replaced for approx $1100 but it's an older unit (which it is) so I should really replace the whole lot, no point putting money into an older unit, etc. Cheapest option to replace the furnace was about $3500. $1100 to fix, $3500 to replace... easy choice, right ? I bothered to research the issue. A new inducer motor for my furnace can be purchased retail for approx $150. Someone who knows what they're doing can get it installed in about 30 minutes. I'm all for people making money. If I'd been charged $500 or $600 then I'd have been ok as there's a spectacular amount of overheads in running a business. At $500 or $600 I'd have got what I needed and they'd have made good money. At $1100 I'm very much being taken advantage of or intentionally mislead to get an up sell. _________________________ Update : informed that the tech was new and didn't understand the pricing structure correctly. The correct price should have been under $700. Changed the review from 2 stars to 3 as they've obviously reached out in attempt to rectify the situation. I have no doubt they'd do a great job on anything I need, but it still seems very expensive. If I had the money for white glove service though then these are the guys I'd go to. Terrible business were they send repair men who do not fix the problems necessitating more service calls. I called Alexander this morning and left a message for the owner to call me and he never did. Now they post to call Frank so I did a 2nd time and no response from them again. Unfortunately my apt complex uses this company where the repair guy was here again yesterday, got the system running but would not check anything and this morning at 6:45 a.m. I am having the same problem. I requested they send their best repair man here because this is horrible. I am a senior citizen and this has negatively affected my health and well being, my property, my schedule, etc. I will be making upper mgt fully aware of this situation and hopefully changes will be made. read more

I have been using Alexander Heating for more than 3 years now and I have annual contract with them for 6 month tune up for both my units. The only reason I didn't give them 5 starts was because of the receptionist (don't know who it was) was kind of rude on the phone when I called to make an appt. She was very short and made me feel like she was doing me a favor to get me an appt even though I had already paid in advance last summer! The techs, however, that have worked over the years are professional and on time. Curtis, the senior tech, came out yesterday when a junior tech couldn't figure out the problem and was able to fix it quickly. read more

We have had an intermittent HVAC issue over the past few months wherein the blower in the air handler would stop working. This past week it happened on several occasions and in calling Stewart's Heating for service found out they were out of business. In looking for another local HVAC service company I came across Alexander Heating out of Holly Springs who received good ratings on Google and Yelp. So I asked them some basic questions via email and was pleased with their replies and thought I would use them the next time I had a problem. Bam, Saturday, mid afternoon the blower stopped working. Since all previous failures self healed within hours, I figured I could wait until Monday. Well it got hot in here, about 86º, but we survived and Monday morning placed a call for service. Service arrived at 2:45pm, did a through check of all the possible causes and finally isolated the problem to a circuit board. The part is now on order and will be delivered/installed in a few days. However, a minor rewiring and the blower will run continuously until then, allowing A/C to cool the place down. I cannot praise the service person enough for their communicating to us every step in their diagnostic process. Additionally, Alexander Heating emailed me a photo of the service person before they arrived so that I knew who was knocking on the door. read more

My wife and I purchased a home that needed extensive repairs/modifications. Our hope was to have all work completed prior to us moving into the home for the safety of us and workers during COVID times. We relied referrals and good reviews and trusted Alexander with our empty home. For the most part, everything seemed to be going well except for numerous errors with the company's invoicing system. (The company repeatedly sent us invoices containing items that were removed/modified. My wife had to call in several times to ensure the invoices were correct and we were paying for exactly what was completed). We understand that numerous changes to invoices were made due to additional work we wanted done, however the invoices contained vague descriptions of work to be completed and it was nearly impossible to tell what work was for what. For example, light fixtures (such as garage lights, chandeliers, etc.) and ceiling fans were all lumped together, leading to a huge issue at the end. We stopped by the house a few times during the month and were dismayed to see that the electrical technicians left trash directly under the light fixtures they were to replace. The old broken light fixtures, along with the new boxes, wires, styrofoam, were left in the house instead of removed or placed in the garage. My wife called and left a message asking for the trash to be removed, but either no one received this message or it was ignored. Finally, Alexander's representatives (Wendy, Jordan, etc.) assured us that all work would be completed 2/5/2021. We had hired a maid service to clean the entire house on 2/6/2021. My wife called Alexander to settle up the invoices (only two remained as she had paid the rest previously.) Again, Jordan assured us that all the work at been done. My wife called about the two invoices, and Jordan said she could only find one. My wife was confused, but finally settled on paying the one invoice. Later, Jordan called saying that she had found the other invoice, which my wife then paid. I stopped by the house the evening of 2/5/2021 and was shocked to find that trash was still everywhere in the home. I spent the next few hours lugging heavy fans and light fixtures to garage so that the maids would be able to clean the next day. In addition, a light fixture that we provided for the technicians to install was not installed and a washer and dryer that we paid to have installed were not installed after we had been assured that all work had been completed. We were furious. Having seen work not completed, it brought into question if everything on the invoice had been completed. The next day, Alexander sent out technicians to complete the work, but this was after the maids were done. Even after the technicians were told to clean up after themselves, we found plaster and the trash in the home. We were later told that it was a policy to not throw away old fixtures as it was a problem if owners later complained. This policy was NEVER communicated to us and we specifically requested that the trash be removed. We were appalled to find wires in the brand new carpet of our 14-month daughter's room that were too heavy for the maids' vacuums to pick up. On Monday, my wife received several emails from Jordan with additional invoices that she claimed needed to be paid. Jordan asked for proof of payment - note, this was the invoice she couldn't find in the first place. My wife and I both separately spoke with the owner Frank Alexander trying to find a resolution to our issues. He was inconsistent in what he told us and offered us $300 when we had paid over $20,000, saying he could not afford anything higher. Wendy claimed she would help resolve the issue, but so far has done nothing. Had my daughter swallowed a wire, I guarantee, it would not cost $300. I would not recommend this company for their lack of communication, their lack of accountability (why was a final walk-through of the invoice not performed? There is still incomplete work), and their disregard for their customers and their property. read more

Just had AC unit replaced. Everyone was a pleasure to work with from the moment I sent my first email until my unit was installed yesterday. Sergio came out initially to asses. He is knowledgeable and made me feel confident in investing so much money with his company. He was friendly and so easy to talk to to. Patient and happy to answer all of my questions. Day of installation was a quick 2 days later. I was fortunate enough to get Julius and Phillip. They were extremely friendly and beyond professional. They worked hard all day in the heat and still managed to have nothing but a smile on their face. This just made me feel reassured they were doing a great job. This company is fast, very fare priced, and above do an amazing job. I have never seen such professionalism from an AC company in my life. I would highly recommend this company. Regarding Mr. Alexander's "Update" to his reply to my review, it is just more weaseling and evasion of responsibility by a dishonest businessman. He repeatedly made and then reneged on offer to do something to resolve the issue, and this story is just his latest excuse. Plus I'm pretty sure there was nothing that the head of a competing firm would have told him that would give him reason to reneg on his offer (the last one was to fix the problem at his cost). Note he didn't explain what he was supposedly told. To say nothing of the ethical question of discussing a customer's account history with a competitor. Bottom line - he may do decent work but when a problem arises the guy is slimy and talks out of both sides of his mouth. Avoid him like the plague. read more

We noticed our AC wasn't working one evening and I went directly to yelp for some assistance. I was excited to see a locally owned shop that is close to our house with amazing reviews. Worth a shot. I called the next morning and got an appointment for the afternoon. Frank was in the area in the morning and was able to squeeze us in early. Bonus! Frank was great! He had our issue pegged within 10 minutes, and had the whole thing wrapped up and complete within 30min. I troubleshoot processes for a living and I was thoroughly impressed. Frank helped me out in a pinch and he knew exactly what needed to be replaced and freon added to my heat pump. Eventhough I have a home warranty service, I had met Frank a while back and knew he would help when I needed. The A/C wasn't cooling enough and he immediately determined the thermostat needed to be replaced. He was on time and cost effective.... Based on the good reviews, I was very surprised on the lack of professionalism. Called a tech for an estimate who identified the issue as a gas valve problem and quoted me for the fix. The tech then proceeded to fix the issue and the system didnt turn on, so he said that the thermostat was faulty, and for me to replace it because he would have to add $170 to the inital quote to fix it. I took his suggestion and tried it after he left on a hurry. I installed the thermostat correctly. The thermostat didnt work, and the heat never turned on. We were pushed to call them back to urge them to finish fixing the system, since there was no heat on the house. Another tech came out really late and after identifying a third problem, different from the last two, added a $180 charge to the quote. By the way, we were charged for the initial quote. A ~280 dollar bill became a ~460 dollar one in the span of a few hours. The technicians kept adding problems to the inital quote. I wouldn't waste my time or my money again; I will try to find someone who can abide by the first quoted price next time. read more

I've had a maintenance contract for my HVAC system with them since 2018. Today I canceled it. The contract I had was for bi-yearly service. At the end of 2021, about a month after my fall service (at least that is what I was told) they changed their bi-yearly plan to once a year for the same amount or if you wanted to keep the bi-yearly plan, there was a slight increase in fee. They claimed they emailed everyone. During the summer of 2022, I called to inquire about my summer service and was alerted to the new price structure. I had not received the email and since I never responded to the email I was automatically rolled into the once-a-year plan. The person I talked to was less than helpful. My argument is not about the new fee it was about how they handled the switchover. Why not contact the individuals who had not responded? You charge us every month for the fee so you have our information. read more

Would not ever use this company again. When our HVAC stopped working in the winter we had a guy from here come out. He told us we needed a whole new HVAC and needed new wiring throughout the house. Told us we didn't need to call our Home Warranty Insurance company because "most likely they wouldn't cover it because they don't cover anything". Quoted us $7500 for a new HVAC and everything we needed done. I thought this was odd so I called my Home Warranty Insurance company. They came out and the guy looked for 2.5 hours to figure out what the issue was. Low and behold all we needed was a new fuse. Which cost us with the visit $55 and that's it. Haven't had any issues since. Would not recommend this company to anyone. I am the first to admit I don't know anything about HVAC systems but for someone to try to con me like that blows my mind. Go somewhere else or get a second opinion if you use this company !!! ** updated review** i see where below the company has responded and said this is a "fake review". This is far from the truth. I first off do not appreciate a company trying to conclude that just because i refuse to reach out to them because first off you know where i live and secondly if i do not like the service i get, why would i go back or have the situation "taken care of" when in the beginning we were going to be taken advantage of? We resolved the issue with another company and for the past YEAR have no had any additional issues. Mind you only cost a $55 fix compared to the $7500 quote your company gave us. I do not feel it should be necessary to go back to the same company if i feel the service i received was less than adequate, therefore i have left my two sense and will take my business elsewhere. Sorry my review is not something you care to hear and yes, you have not rectified the issue because the quote was so ridiculous and we were going to be taken advantage of so why would i feel the need to speak to this Alexander Heating and air. Alexander Heating and Air is without question the best, most conscientious service provider we have ever used. They are prompt, thorough, honest, and will give advice to the homeowner of how to take care of their systems to insure longer life, with fewer repairs. I would most highly recommend them for maintenance and repair, but assume they could replace, if needed. I randomly called Alexander Heating @ 4:50pm during a Google search on a Friday, hoping to get an opinion on an estimate I just had paid for. The nice ladies on the phone assured me to relax and that they would find a guy to "swing by" really quick because he was right around the corner.. They knew I had just paid for an estimate. I was really calling to check availability for the weekend. The "guy" arrived, and it was dark.. And my unit is outside. And I told him exactly what work had already been done.. He said ok sounds like the same work they would charge around $1100 for and my estimate was $450. He did NOTHING at all to inspect my unit.. Except use my picture off my phone with the unit info & he sent me the estimate that I told him I could already get for less than 1/2 & that I didn't need his estimate. He was here for about 3 min & he had to have literally been in the neighborhood because he beat me & I had just called 20 min before. And he said that regardless if he did anything or not- I'd be charged $85 or else "the boss wouldn't be happy". He did nothing but get out of his car- I knew he could not do anything because it was dark - but I was still charged for the service and now being harassed to pay it. Super upset... Feel taken advantage of. Not good. ----------------------------------- This is my update for the review.. The owner's response was untrue & disrespectful & unfortunate for his company that instead of trying to acknowledge ANY of my concerns whatsoever shows that he is not actually concerned about the experience of his customers- at least not THIS customer. Namely- the main facts that were completely untrue are: 1) NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME $79 for the mechanic to "swing by" because he was already "in my area" as I was told. I absolutely would NOT have agreed to pay again... That's why I was blindsided. I guess it was my fault for being naive and not asking because I was upset & rushing... But what I did tell them was that I literally just paid to get the diagnosis done. I was just hoping someone could do the work (for a reasonable price) over the weekend because the first tech I paid had to reschedule to fix for 3 days later. But I knew anyone coming out late in the evening in the dark could not do the work then anyway so not sure what the point was other than to be sure to take my $79? 2)Also, the amount of time spent "36 min" is a joke, unless they count drive time, time for me to arrive, and the 5 minutes we spoke & the time he took for an estimate when I just told him no need because iI wasn't doing business with them bc it was too $$ just from our discussion. We did not have an exact appointment time, we were both just en route, driving and meeting ASAP. The fact is he showed up and I shared with him the pictures on my phone of my unit from the OTHER mechanic I had just paid to diagnose the problem- and read to him my quick notes on the parts/issues uncovered.. but the Alexander Heating & Air mechanic - NEVER OPENED MY UNIT!! The mechanic did in fact tell me that he just worked on a unit just like mine and he explained there was similar damage to what my other mechanic found. So his previous client + my description from observing the previous technician I just paid is where any material info came from. 3) I have proof where I TEXTED him my unit/part numbers so he would not ever have to OPEN it or try to work in the dark. Again, because his initial verbal quote from his previous client was DOUBLE $ because they refused to use a universal part- and they "ever only use factory parts". I understand this from a quality point-of-view on their part & respect this decision.. But my unit is old, and I can replace the entire thing for not a whole lot more than the quote. By the way, a couple of days after the aforementioned service call, my OTHER mechanic did do the install with the Universal part, and he warrantied the work-- and it has been working amazing since! For 1/2 the price... And let it be known, none of this has to do with the $84.73 "service call". This has to do with helping protect the pubic from being naive like me, and also about being transparent. Btw, the payment has been made.. However I hope this was an eye opener as to how this owner handles disappointed customers (at least this one) versus trying to make things right. Again.. all over $79 read more
