He had to change to 12:15PM the day before, so I agreed. Once here, he put together everything, but I was a bit worried with him carrying heavy parts of the furniture down the steps because he is a bit older and doesn't seem to be in the best shape. I didn't want him to fall going down the steps. He put everything together and it all looked good. He quickly left after I payed.

I will say that he did go above and beyond to help me find the right hinges for a fair price, and he seemed like such a nice guy! He came back a few weeks later with his caulking man (George) and also to fix some uneven cabinet doors from when he installed the soft close hinges. We went through the house and I showed him and George the areas I wanted to be re-caulked: around the kitchen counters, a powder room sink, upstairs tub and bathroom, and laundry room sink. Surprisingly, they were done in less than 90 minutes! I was outside when they finished and were getting ready to leave. Probably my mistake, but I trusted that he did a good job since he talked up George's caulking work so much. I should have gone in and taken a look myself. He didn't ask me to take a look at the work before leaving (a habit that good contractors should have, in my opinion). When I took a closer look after they left, I was very disappointed. The caulking in the kitchen was messy looking-lumpy and edges were not smooth. There were areas that had dirt stuck in the caulking and there was caulk on my tile and cabinets. Then I noticed that he overlooked the powder room. I texted him and told him so and also commented on how the caulking job was not very neat. He replied that he didn't know about the powder room, that it "wasn't on his list". We then talked on the phone, and he was incredibly defensive and insisted that I didn't ask him to caulk the powder room. Ridiculous since George had gone in there with me and even pulled some of the old caulking off and left it on the sink! He just never went back to finish the job. Earl insisted that it wasn't on his "list", but his "list" is only in his mind. He doesn't write anything down! Anyways, he defended George, saying that his work was "perfect". I was taken aback by his defensiveness and unwillingness to admit any wrongdoing. He spoke in an annoyed and rude tone to me. If a customer is unhappy with your work then you apologize and try to see what you can do to fix it. You don't get defensive and rude and basically make him/her feel like they are wrong to complain. Sheesh. I'm very sorry it turned out this way, but I'm back to looking for a new handyman.

I was very particular about details of the project, and Joey was always accommodating. He takes pride in his work and takes the time to do things right. Details of the work Joey performed: demo existing portico and roof, build 275sq ft covered front porch with standing seam metal roof, cedar deck boards with hidden fasteners, rough-hewn cedar posts, T&G pine ceiling, kiln-dried lumber everywhere visible. I separately hired electricians, wrought-iron railings, and site prep/masons.

I was impressed with his knowledge, his honesty, and his professionalism! What also left an impression was that not only was he a craftsman with woodworking but also versatile in other things that needed to be done. We also needed the shed to comply with our HOA rules, it needed to match the house and withstand the heavy winds we deal with every year. Due to supply chain issues and increasing costs of supplies we really needed to get a build scheduled ASAP. We scoured the area for a quality shed builder who could not only provide slight customization to suit our very specific needs, but also match the exact dimensions we were seeking in a shed. We found two that were rated the highest within NC, one of them being BAS Buildings. Unfortunately, we were unable to get immediately on the build schedule with BAS so we scheduled a build with their main competitor. We were pleasantly surprised when we were told BAS had an opening and could get us on their build schedule. We immediately cancelled the other build and scheduled with BAS. Working with BAS on the shed design and specs was not only easy, but it was also a very pleasurable experience. This is a family business that treats you like family and trust me when I tell you, they know how to build sheds! They used the highest quality of materials and made shed building look easy. The shed easily passed both inspections and they took care of everything, including overseeing the siding installation, all we had to do was watch. We ended up with the most attractive and highest quality-built shed in the neighborhood. We made some great friends and have a shed that will last a lifetime, I would highly recommend this highly talented family business. Service: Shed installation
