These guys just flat out make me laugh. I actually wanted to go with them because I thought I could budget my prices from Time Warner Cable; however, I found that this place can be just as expensive. The internet for a 2 year, no contract agreement is $32 plus tax and $75 modem fee. The funny part was, when I placed an order with one rep two weeks ago. The actual guy was suppose to be coming today. I called them back up and they said I never had an order with them. So the guy is probably going to come today and I will just have to tell him that I did not place an order? Sounds insane. When I called back, the rep on the other end actually sounded kind of indifferent as to wanting me as a customer. A Kinetic service line has been aproximately 6 feet off the ground for nearly a year. I have called five times and they have been to look at it 3 times. The first two technicians said they would have to talk to their supervisor, and I never heard anything back. The third time (Wednesday, April 8), the technician found the source of the why it was sagging, and said they would have it fixed either that day, or the next. I highly advised to not even get on the phone with this company: Date May 28th. My conversation included the fact that I was at a RV Campground and my space was XXX. I was told no problems. What was promised: Free installation and 3 months free service. Monthly rate of $34.95 with auto payment. After 45 days of no payment problems, a $200 Visa Gift card. 15mps and installation by a professional tech on June 4th. Sounds great. Call ended with no problems and a happy customer. I received an Email. Can't install due to previous customer still showed service. Called the person who was here before. No service with Kinetic. Spoke to a supervisor who cleared up the problem and released the order for installation on June 5th. Called again to double check on the order. Without noticed, it was being held again. I spoke to another person, who promised it would be released but.... the free 3 month service was for a virus protection, not the internet. The price of $34.95 with auto pay, went to $40.00 and now they could not install until June 18th. I called back again and again there was a problem. I had their "service" for 2 months and 10 days. That's how long it took me to figure out what a massive mistake I made switching to Kinetic, and to switch back to my old provider. Don't be fooled by their introductory plans like I was - yeah, 3gbs is great on paper. In reality, I never once got above 600mbs. And for some reason, fiber did NOT play nice with our Rokus - making Amazon video and Netflix stutter on playback, becoming unwatchable. Both work fine again now that I've switched back. If you're getting new service, don't count on having your wires buried in any kind of timely manner. Apparently that's contracted out to a second company that will get to you between the hours of next month and possibly within the next decade. Maybe. Better hope that your installation is correct the first time, and that your technician doesn't "splice your line wrong" or that you have a bad router out of the box. Both will take at least a week for tech to get to, so hope you weren't planning on actually using your new high-speed fiber internet. Feeling upset about your lack of service? NO PROBLEM! Connect to their absolutely useless self-help bot, who, after you're ready to pull your hair out, MIGHT connect you to a customer service rep that will read from a script and pretend not to know anything else about your problem. So you think, "hey, I'll give 'em a call!" Well, good luck with that. Their tech support is ALSO farmed out, and the operators will ALSO read from a script and pretend not to know anything else about your problem. And if your internet goes down for... reasons? By far, the WORST internet service I have had. Unfortunately, Windstream (Kinetic) is the only provider which can service my area so I continue to pay $110+ per month for speeds, that even under ideal conditions, seem far slower than the dial-up speeds of the 1990's. A friend was starting a new business. I recommended they go with Windstream instead of Spectrum for their Internet service. Several technicians came out to install service- only to tell her that they could only install Residential service and not Business. This happened multiple times. She asked me if I would takeover getting her Internet installed while she continued to work on other tasks with getting her business going. I spent over an hour on the phone with Windstream trying to get them to click the little box that says 'Business' instead of 'Residential'. We have 2 business lines, and they could NEVER get the long distance to work consistently on our second line. In 2017, our office gal passed away suddenly, and we lost our account access somehow. We switched our phone service and internet to another company this spring to get the long distance issues resolved finally. Now, they won't stop charging us a monthly bill even though we have switched providers. They say we don't have access to change our account?!?! They want a letter on company letterhead (which we have never had!) and a signature from an officer of the Corporation to even give us access to our account!!!! We have 4 employees..... If I could give a negative review, I would. This is the worst experience I have ever had signing up for new services. On Sept. 1, I signed up for fiber internet and telephone service with a sales person (whom I'll call Mike) I had been communicating with for several weeks. My order had been put in as a green streak instead of Dry Loop (entered incorrectly). For some reason, there was also a 522 phone number associated with my business, which caused a lot of confusion. I didn't get the upgraded phone service because I already have fairly new phones and we also have 3 phones in our shop. So after my connection, on Sept. 1, I realized I had no caller ID and I was not able to call out to some numbers. I contacted Mike to ask if I should have caller ID and he said if my phone was compatible. I had caller ID in the past so I knew that it was. He put in an order to have Caller ID, delete the 522 phone number from my account and my call out issue. At the end of the week, (two weeks later) I lost internet and I still couldn't call out. When the tech came, he got the internet working. When they deleted the 522 number, I lost internet. The tech discovered I had never been signed up for long distance. Mind you, I'm trying to run a business where Caller ID and long distance are essential. The tech sent a message to Mike and he was like "Oh ok I'll get that added." I emailed Mike and told him never in a million years did I ever think I wouldn't have long distance or Caller ID. That was his job to make sure that I had the services I needed. Nor did it ever dawn on him that was why I couldn't call out to certain phone numbers. That is his job to make sure that I have those BASIC services. This is the 20th Century! I was NOT happy! So sometime in this timeframe I received my bill, which had the 522 phone number on it and was higher than Mike quoted me PLUS I was charged for EVERY LOCAL CALL I made. It also said at the bottom of my bill - "You have selected preferred long distance carrier freeze" on the following two lines--the 522 number and my phone number. Again I contacted Mike about my bill and to find out what this "Freeze" meant. Never heard back from him. So I took it upon myself to call Windstream. After being transferred to about the 4th person, none of whom spoke very clear English, I was told someone put a freeze on my long distance and she asked if I wanted it removed and I said "YES I have been trying to get long distance since Sept. 1. She said she would call back when this was completed. Never hear back from her. It is now Sept. 15, I have a whole stack of customers to call but I can't because I don't have long distance. I did use my cell phone, but I don't want customers calling and texting me on my personal cell phone. I decided to go to the vacuum shop next door to call a customer. I proceeded to tell him about my Windstream horrible experience and a Windstream truck pulls up and I said - "Oh maybe he's coming to fix my long distance." He walks into the vacuum shop. We were all talking and I proceeded to tell this gentleman about my Windstream horrible experience. He asked me for my business number and said, "I'll be in touch." It wasn't a half hour later and this gentleman called me back and said, "You have long distance." This is 15 days after signing up for new service and it took this man less than a half hour to get this accomplished. After all the hours spent on phone calls and emails to Mike and many other people, NO ONE could get this accomplished! After all these issues, on Sept. 7, I told Mike was going to go with internet only and I was switching my phone service to another supplier. He put in the order for that to happen and my new phone service with my new supplier was supposed to happen on Sept. 20. I received a call from my new supplier that Windstream would not release my phone number because I have an open order (from Sept. 7). On Friday, Sept. 22, I have NO phone service. They reassured me that this would NOT happen in the transfer to a new supplier. After more hours on the phone, they sent the tech out! I had two techs in my parking lot trying to help me regain phone service. The techs have been absolutely great and even gave me his phone number if I had any more issues. I was reassured that I would have phone service by the end of the day. Now Monday afternoon, and I still have no phone service. Again the tech came out and was able to reconnect my phone. Now, AGAIN, I have NO caller ID or long distance. The tech was able to get the caller ID added but they won't give me long distance because I am porting out my phone number to a new supplier. On Sept. 27, Windstream finally said that my new supplier should be able to get my telephone number. My new service is SUPPOSED to be installed on Oct. 2. I'm still without long distance and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I have no more issues. Never use Windstream phone service! read more

They are a distant provider.At first, things were fine, only occasional outages. We were Dish customers for along time. Then, the building started at UGA 2 blocks away. I'm not saying that' s to blame for our problems but it's a factor. Then comes fiber. Windstream offers me more speed, great, then they offer "fiber" Or so they call it! Then 2 yrs ago, GA net Starts laying real fiber on Grove St. Oh Boy! Is that the snswer to our problems? No ! That's only for new cus- timers!! Well, Gee, what are the rest of us paying customers? As I'm certain this has been said, I'll reiterate - if I could give a negative score, I'd give Kinetic -5 stars. "Not Good" doesn't come close (sorry Yelp). So Windstream after the class action suit against it and it's pages upon pages of shell companies, has merely slapped a new name on, hired some advertisers to give it a fresh, new, and deceptive face. From my experienc, nothing has changed. I've had Kinetic for months now, and as if they literally changed nothing but their name, I have yet to receieve the product I've paid for. Leaving aside the whole megabits vs. megabytes and that clear deceptive marketing ploy, where I live, Windstream (I'm not even going to call it Kinetic as it is clearly the same grifters and corporate pirates running things) has a monopoly. They are the ONLY service aside from even more expensive satellite internet. Consequently, they have NO incentive to do right by their customers; and they don't. I want to be crystal clear on one thing, however - the technicians who I've interacted with have been amazing. I am not dissatisfied with them. They don't own the company nor make the "criminal not criminal" decisions that ARE decided at the top to f*** people out of money they've worked hard for. How is it legal to sell a product, not deliver said product, and yet operate with impunity - cash rolling right in. I am certain of this, however - if I were to take money for a job I hadn't yet done (I am a stonemason by trade), then go and throw a few stones in a pile that sort of resembles a thing, and leave it at that...I would be held accountable. I would be forced by the court (or maybe the market if I had some competition) to make it right with those I had screwed over. Where is the accountability for these corporations? Our service was good but when the price went up, I tried to cancel. The rep convinced me to switch the account to my elderly mother's name who lives with me. She placed my account in a pending status while we waited on my mother's to get approved. My mother's account was approved and I received the email stating so. Today, I get a bill for 2 mths for nearly $200 and when I called, the rep stated that my mother's account was in a pending status. I did not do that and I'm not sure who did but why would I choose to pay the much higher rate? I shouldn't have been charged for a 2nd mth at the higher rate. They make it impossible to cancel your service. Plus, I never received the $100 gift card and I've been with them for about 1.5 years. I've complained about that several times but received no help. I am really about to shut my account down with them, I have been with out internet for a week now, have put in MULTIPLE tickets to have it fixed, being charged for internet that I DONT HAVE, and every time it open a ticket to have it fixed, that send the Tech out to the old address I haven't been at in 3 years! Keep in mind that when I moved, a tech had to come out to the current address and install boxes, but now that there is a problem this month, they are sending him to the wrong address, and giving him some phone number to contact me that I have NEVER need before in my life so I'm not even getting text or calls from the tech. This is the second or third ticket I have had put in. I have looked at the open ticket and its STILL the WRONG address! I contacted them and they said they have fixed the address, but NOPE They had said they had fixed the address on the closed ticket while it was open (it is closed now because the address the tech went to I wasn't at because they gave him the WRONG address.....) If I have to put in 1 more ticket and wait 1 more week then I'm done! It's fucked up that they won't credit me for anything, so I'm gonna go all this time with no net and still have to pay this stupid 70$ bill (Keep in mind, I have gone a week with out it already do to their fuck up, it's gonna be at least 4-5 days before the next tech comes out, to again, the wrong address because they are to incompetent to fix the address, so again, it will be another week from that..... I bet, IF the address ever gets corrected....) Had initial service installed on 3/7/24. 4 hours later it stopped working. Called "customer service" and told first appt available for technician was Wednesday 3/13 between 3pm and 5pm. Got text message from Kinetic at 10:54 am that technician was on the way to my house. Wife had to leave work and waited for hours and no one came. Technician called me at a little after 3pm saying he fixed service remotely. Called Kinetic customer service again and asked why they texted me 4 hours before appt saying tech was on the way in 15 minutes. After 20 minutes on phone they said text was accidentally sent. Wife had to take 1/2 day of her vacation time to sit at home for a bad message from provider and technician who never came. 3 days later on Sunday service stopped working again. Called "customer service" they offered me Saturday service so we did not have to lose any more work time. They said tech would be there Saturday the 23rd between 3-5pm. Wife again sat around for 7 hours and finally got text from Kinetic that they were too busy and my appt was being moved to Monday, which means more time without service and loss of work. Called customer service and they apologized saying my service was moved because they do not offer Saturday service, even though their scheduling dept offered it to me and wasted another day. I have been signed up with them for 16 days and have had a total of 3 days and 4 hours of service. This is by far the worst internet provider service ever, and I have been with the internet since it was invented! Come on Kinetic, get it together. Starting to look for another provider as they cannot seem to get it together in customer service, scheduling dept, and quality of service they advertise. read more

Windstream is THE WORST. I signed up for their service over a year ago, and the first few months were fine. But when I called them to move my service to a new address, all hell broke loose. First, they only gave me phone service at my new address (what? I've never owned a landline in my life!). I still had internet, because of some weird back-end slip-up on their end, but I was paying solely for a service I didn't even use - and that cost more than my internet plan. It took them 3 months to get it fixed. I thought I was in the clear... But no. During the landline debacle, I told them several times that I didn't want a landline service. I wanted internet only. I understand they need a windstream phone number to tie to your account, but I refuse to pay for a service I'm not using. But they couldn't even get that right. Turns out, whatever dunce "changed" my plan messed up horribly. Instead of removing the phone/internet bundle, they left it on my bill AND added a second "internet only" charge to my account. So I was paying for TWO internet services under one address. They overcharged me for 2 months before I noticed it! When I called them about it, they refused to refund my money. Instead, they "credited it to my account". Which would be fine, but I wanted to cancel my service... I still haven't gotten my $113 back. And they had the gall to try to sell me more crap I don't need during this call, when they can't even get the one service I actually want right. Also, I've had an "open order" on my account since November of 2016... Which means they call me weekly asking for my availability when I've submitted no such order. For whatever reason, they can't seem to cancel it. Queue these jerks calling and interrupting at the most inappropriate times, all year long. But you know what pisses me off the most? Every time I called because I had an issue that THEY were at fault for, their customer service reps would cop an attitude, as if it's my fault they can't get it together. And if I had a dollar for every time they said they were going to "transfer me" to someone that could help, but hung up on me instead, I could pay my internet bill for months on their dime. BEWARE WINDSTREAM! I just switched to Spectrum, and I am NEVER looking back! read more

I'd love to give these guys no stars. If you need service, they take their time. If you mail your bill on time in the middle of a pandemic, they charge late fees as the post office is moving slower. They won't miss a chance to add fees and charge ridiculous amounts for the slow speed internet. I know there are few choices out here. We deserve better. We deserve a provider that actually cares. In the midst of this pandemic, they just lost a customer who pays ON TIME EVERY MONTH. They are surely losing many more from death and joblessness. One would think they would consider that. So take my 10 extra bucks this month. It'll be the last money you see from me. read more
