Switched internet service providers today and the switch was fast and seamless and I do mean seamless. And the plan hubby put us on saves us 50% off the rate we were paying our previous service provider, and Metronet gives us fiber internet. I am not sure what that means but our son says it is much better than other forms of delivery of internet. Anyway, big shout out to Metronet for such a great iob done so effortlessly. Our technician was the BEST and he so polite and professional. Our service was installed the same day we called and so quickly I couldn't believe it. There was no money up front and we got a very affordable plan. Finally had to discontinue service with this company after asking for two years for them to get the massive amount of wires off the ground and out of a stream. Everytime they sent someone, they claimed they needed a bigger truck. When the weather ended up freezing something I was without service for five days. They sent two techs and both could not repair. Again stating they needed a bigger truck. You can't get a truck back to that pole! Cancelled service and somehow Spectrum had the great idea to get to the pole, WITH A LADDER. Unfortunately, I signed a contract for three years with this company. I had so much trouble with the phone system that I signed up with Verizon, well that was $800 for breach on contract. Then, I was running my office off of slow Verizon internet because we found out that Metronet master technician told me that all lines into my building had been cut. So, I was paying for 18 months at $129 per month to use Verizon phone internet (assuming Metronet was fast Internet). I have been in business since 2012 and I have NEVER come across a company that is so crooked. Since June 2022, when me fiber cable was laid across my yard, Larry, Curly and Mo have showed up at my yard from time to time. So far now on FOUR occasions, they dug lines about 3"-4" to bury the original lines. It looked like I had moles in my yard (not even close to a straight line). The last lie, was they said they were going to bore through my driveway and my neighbors driveways, because my fiber line is illegally running unexposed through my water culvert (not contained in a water protected conduit). I paid my bill for service for July 2-Aug 1 2024 on July 1. On July 2, I had no internet service and they could not figure out why. They did not have a tech available for 4-5 days, and I require internet for work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I immediately cancelled the service and got t-mobile.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As it turns out, there was a storm that had ripped the cable from the pole at the street which was the reason for no service. I returned the equipment. Now they are billing me for service up to the date I returned the equipment (8/6/2024) when in fact they owe me one month of service I did not receive. Wasted many hours of my time. Never got the 500mbps speed I was paying for (usually around 300mbps), eventually tech support told me after hours on a phone call that because I had a Mac, I need to get an Ethernet jack and cable, and connect directly to an Ethernet port to get the speed I was paying for. I had spectrum before and after the 3 months I made the mistake of signing up with spectrum, and had previously and have currently OVER 400 mbps speed on Wi-Fi (no Ethernet cable required), though only paying for 400mbps. Also with the student discount, I paid $120 (deposit plus first month), and after a week of use, I was sent another $60 bill. They told me I had to pay a deposit with a student account, and a month in advance. When I returned my equipment 3 months later, they tried to rip me off and give me zero refund. After wasting more of my time, they said they give the remaining month pro-rated, but no deposit because I didn't make one. So my only option is to return with proof of purchase, because they are crooks and have no respect for anyone else's time. Also, despite their masks required sign on the front door, ZERO of their Caucasian male employees are wearing masks today. read more

I have had MetroNet for 2 years. I reached that magical time at the end of the promotion period where my rate more than doubles. It's sad because I really had five star service and reliability BUT in the current economy, that kind of increase is not affordable for me. I switched to Kinetic. The fucking modem and router won't light up !! Metronet has you call them only to be put on hold to get transferred to 3-4 different departments only to be on hold 12-15 mins per transfer!! Very underwhelmed by Metronet's installation crew at my house this morning for the following reasons. 1) Running and burying lines across mine and my neighbors backyards is a huge issue especially considering this was not communicated to me whatsoever when I called and asked for the service. People freak out when you don't communicate things - especially that could lead to domestic disputes between neighbors and property lines etc...No one has the easement agreements on their person, to review right then and there, if this stuff is not communicated in advance. 2)If you're an install contractor, do not show up to my house (as a stranger) needing to wander around my home and use my bathroom not once, but three different times. Plan ahead. If customers don't know you, they don't trust you, period. 3)They arrived at 8:15am, and it is now almost 12pm. In no way, shape or form should this be a 4 hour ordeal. If a customer books early in the morning, that's a strong indication they want to move on to the rest of their day with other things in their schedule. 4)Do not bring in an apprentice to attempt assisting with the installation (and messing up over and over again - dragging out the timeline) on the customer's time. Do this on your time, at your shop. 5)A customer should not have to vacuum, mop, and cleanup mud, leaves and other debris from the contractor's activity inside and outside the home. Service works fine, just like any other service work when it's running properly. If an animal or construction or something damages the cable though, you're down for at least five days, so good luck if you work from home or want internet for the week. A couple days I could accept, but to seem to tend more to 5 day waits...it's really long. And the problem is the installation isn't always good quality, I've had people come out and properly bury it deeply, but I've also had super sloppy and shallow jobs not even six inches deep. And of course that ended up quickly broken by an animal that was burrowing and then it's the waiting game for service again. read more

This is where you turn in equipment when you cancel service. Price of tv went up significantly and I was on the minimal tv package. Tv and internet had intermittent outages, tv would stop and everything had to be restarted. Installer ran cable over my brick flower bed and no one came to fix this. Metronet had a special of 39.99 monthly in August 2024. Sounded good so I called them. After talking to the agent, the cost somehow rose to 53.99 monthly. Then, agent started talking installation fee of 75.00. Service only lasts for one year so that comes out to another 6.25 monthly. So my math says the 39.99 turned to 60.24 monthly for the first year. I wonder how much more the price rises after the year is up? Too expensive for me so Slick just lost a customer. read more

We had been on a contract steady rate for two years for just internet. Then it jumped up to $82. We called in to cancel, and they said they would as soon as we turned in the equipment. The next month comes around, and we see a pending charge on our account. I talk on chat with Customer Service and even though we sent in our router they didn't cancel our service. I point out that we sent in the router. They say yes they received the router but there was still an outstanding piece of equipment. What is that? Well the EERO wifi that we never had because I own my own wifi router that is not an EERO. I demanded they close my account, remove this equipment that I don't have, and cancel the charge. And they put the charge through anyway. Awful, awful, awful. UPDATE: If you cancel your service, they will still bill you for two months after your service was cancelled, and if you have your own Wi-Fi router, they will try to bill you for that as well. We called to have our service cancelled and were told that as soon as the fiber modem was turned in it would be shut off. It wasn't. So we were charged for two months of service we couldn't have used anyway because our equipment was already turned in at a whopping $165 total. Oh, and when we asked for a refund? They issued us a refund alright. For a whopping $14.52. A refund for one month of Wi-Fi rental that we never had, and that's it. And from a sweet 76 year old widow, and her disabled, chronically ill daughter (me) on a very small fixed income. Anyone thinking about joining, don't. We were treated better at Spectrum, which is frankly saying a lot. read more

Canceled services because it got too expensive for me after promotional period ended. I'm being charged for a wireless router that we never used. When i told the guy on the phone that I've always had my own wireless router he said if I don't find it, I will be charged $150. I was never charged a monthly fee for using their router or anything, because I didn't have it. The manager updated my credits and told me I should receive them within 1 month. I called back a month later and talked to a guy with a smartass attitude about the credits. He stated he put them through again and I should receive them in 3 weeks. Guess who had to call back today and speak to them again? I'm sure you got the answer correct, ME. This time I was assured yet again that they were put in the system correctly and would be mailed out tomorrow. I just asked her what date I need to call them back on because I know I won't receive it. Swapped to Metronet after a dismal experience with another provider. I was starting to switch to work from home and the previous provider gave me service that dropped out several times a day. I have to say that the installation was almost instantaneous - the installer was here within two hours. He was extremely nice and professional. The service has been stellar. My speeds compare to working in office, and I've had no problems with any of my programs working through a VPN. For me and my work situation, they have been worth the money. read more

When the service works, it is great. If the service goes down, then it is about 5 days to get the service back up. Installation team is very sloppy. I have had 5 calls in to fix cabling. One person ran cable, then it fell to the ground. Next person came to fix that, and pull it down over my window. Next person came out and said that was not an issue, to call back later if I wanted it fixed. Next person came and tucked it under the flashing of the roof. That fell out and then the next person stapled it to the gutter. Service is out again and told no one would fix until Tuesday (5 days from when it went out) and I should be lucky to get it then as they are so back logged. So I switched services and got same day service. I called to cancel, the lady I talked to was like okay, you cant cancel over the phone you got to do this in the local office when you return the equipment. So if you go with Metro Net, be prepared to have long service times, and if you need to cancel, be ready to take some time off work to get this done. read more

Storm knocked down our line, and it's hanging from the house and laying on the ground. Metronet said they would be able to come in 2 to 3 days. Are you kidding me? There's a down line that is actively pulling further away from the house causing property damage. Obviously the longer it goes uncorrected the more it will pull and eventually fall/disconnect completely. It is completely unacceptable to not have emergency trucks/workers for these types of issues. Also, the last time the internet went out, they said it would be OVER A WEEK before they could come fix it. They do not care about correcting your issues if you are a current customer, but should you call as a new customer, someone can be out the next day to set up you. read more

I switched to Metronet several months ago. Installation was difficult. An inexperienced installer came out. Cut my cable internet inside the house and then couldn't get new service going. So I was without connection over a weekend. Supervisor and his boss came over. Finally got it going. Fast when it works. Doesn't always work. Had I not known that I'd be selling my house soon I would've discontinued. At least it saved me $20 a month for the spotty service. Oh yeah. Also you can't end your service agreement online or via phone. You have to visit the office in person. SMH read more

I use Metronet for internet only. Their DVR doesn't hold enough hours. They showed up on time for the install. He had to run the fiber optic cable all the way around the culdasac to my house. Then around the house to the back yard. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He told me they'd be out in about a week to bury the cable. Unfortunately it was closer to a month. I ended up calling them twice about it. Customer service was prompt and polite. Had no problem getting through to them. I have had the 200GB service for three months. I've had no problems with it. Even at "peak times" it's at 200GB because of the fiber optics. Never going back to my previous provider, Spectrum. Metronet is so much better on all fronts. read more

I too was annoyed when METRONET installed wires in my neighborhood. They left the gate to my backyard open and my dog got out. However, our service has been excellent. We haven't had the constant outages we had with Spectrum and we are paying a lot less! With Spectrum we never were able to get WIFI on all three levels of our house, but with Metronet we get great WIFI throughout. read more

However, getting the line repaired (due to a faulty initial installation) and especially getting it buried properly has been a nightmare. The wrong people have come out, I left VERY clear verbal and written instructions AND, painted the ground as to where the line needed to be buried to work around some construction issues and all of that was totally ignored. So, I paid my bill early not knowing that I was paying to a now inactive account for the same address. Needless to say, my internet got shut off.
