Earlier in the winter, our heat wasn't working to full capacity. When it got below freezing, our unit couldn't keep it over 55. After dealing with a charlatan (another "major" company) who didn't spend enough time trying to identify the problem, my wife's coworker suggested that we reach out to Gene and get a second opinion. I called him up at 10:00 pm and made an appointment for the next day. Gene came and spent a good amount of time checking the inside and outside unit and even the thermostat. Come to find out, the parts the charatan said needed replacing were working perfectly well. Gene identified the problem. Burned out heating strips. After some discussion, my wife and I decided to replace the unit. The unit installed when the house was built was far too small to efficiently heat and cool a house of our size and we had noticed this even when the unit was working, and in the summer. Being that it was the coldest day of the year (so far), they came back the next day and installed a set of used heating strips so that we would have heat until the new unit came in. When the unit came in, a team installed it the next day. They were professional, courteous, and even took the snow shovel out of the garage and shoveled the sidewalk! They also ran another line from the breaker box to increase the efficiency of the new heat strips. I am extremely critical of businesses and often lament that it is hard to find true professionals anymore. It was hot! I had called a company and was put on a waiting list. My husband and I are elderly and have health issues. I found Georgetown Advantage Air on the web and then remembered they had fixed my neighbors AC. I saw they were open 24/7 and gave them a call. Even though it was after 8 pm, they sent out their tech. My unit was unable to be repaired. It was 17 years old and had served us well, but its days were done. Corey and James called there boss Gene and they worked out a solution for us that went above and beyond your normal repair service. I think they helped save our lives. I will forever call James and Corey my angels in the blue shirts. The company installed a brand new Rheem air conditioner for us. It is in the attic and was not an easy job. James, Corey, Travis, Nathan and Austin did an excellent job! They were kind, courteous, and professional. They cleaned up every little mess and the big ones too. They were thoughtful of my home and didn't bump walls or scratch floors. There prices were extremely reasonable too. The main floors HVAC stopped working at my house about a week ago so I started calling companies to get estimates and get a feel for the trustworthiness of the companies themselves. Georgetown Air had the lowest estimate, by a wide margin at that. They showed up when they said they would. They were competent and professional. They even fixed a disconnected air return that was on my upstairs HVAC system and cleaned up the installation of said system at no extra charge. I am not easy to please when it comes to services provided by contractors, as I am sure many of them would attest to. I was raised that if you do something you do it right, or you will have to keep doing it over until you get it right. Seems there are not many people with my mind set around now a days. I am so relieved & thankful for working AC tonight and a company that is more concerned with their customers than a quick buck. It was 80 degrees in our home this evening and we had tried all the "tricks" to get our air to be cool again... we didn't want a huge after hours fee on top of the cost to fix are AC. The owner came quickly at 9:30 pm, fixed the problem, stayed until he was sure it was resolved and didn't charge us an arm and a leg for the capacitor.
