Reviews led us astray this time. This place is a small hole in the wall which isn't a deal breaker for us....but it's pretty grungy. My wife went with the happy family lunch combo, comes with your choice of soup, we picked wonton....good broth but the wontons were not. The crab rangoon was very good, the miniscule egg roll was average. I got the General Tso's chicken lunch special. The chicken had little breading which is a good thing but it was very dry and chewy. The venetian blinds by our table were covered in a thick layer of dust, the soy sauce container on our table had stuff stuck to the side of it. I love supporting mom n pop places but it's a no for this place.

Very good customer service, very authentic for a place in the hood Egg RollSalted Shrimp

Looks can be deceiving but I went with the Yelp reviews... Went to Kim Cafe for lunch and must say the place could definitely use an update but understandable. The food was a little over cooked (chicken) and sauce watery and did not stick to chicken (sesame chicken). I would recommend other Chinese's restaurants unfortunately...

I must've had bad luck because this is NOT as good as what the reviews say it is. The Mongolian chicken and fried rice was bland, the rice was way too firm as if it was more than a day old, the crab puffs are burnt, and the egg drop soup is too watery. I really don't like giving bad reviews because I like to support small and local businesses however, spending $20 for lunch and receiving this kind of food I can't justify supporting Kim Cafe. I ordered the food online and is about 10 minutes from where I work. I waited a bit, about 10-15 minutes to go pick it up and when I got there it still took another 15-20 minutes to get my order. If the place was busy I could understand a longer wait time but there was noone in there. I don't recommend them at all. I took a few bites of everything and that was it. I had no interest in eating more. It's very rare me doing that which says a lot about my experience. Don't waste your money, it's not worth it.

Small place. There is another seating area also. This is where you order and where they cook the food.

As others said it's a hole in the wall place. Just one employee working doing everything. No other customers were there the entire time I was here. Seems to mostly be a take out place. Everything was prepared fresh to order. Everything was great. Food was great, service was great and the guy seemed to really care about customer service and was very friendly.

Surprisingly tasty! Based on the some complaint that it was oily, I ate with caution. But it turned out to be fresh and tasty and yes a little oily. My daughter and I shared the "House special in garlic?" It had fresh sliced tender chicken and beef and shrimp with bamboo in brown garlic sauce. It was so yummy that my daughter and I ate in silence. Lol! I'm sorry I didn't take a picture- the food was gone before I remembered that I had planned to do a review. My lunch-to-go had Eggrolls and crab puff. They also gave me a cold water bottle! Most excellent meal. It's a father-son business. Jason and Tony are professional, friendly and kind people!I'm on that side of houston twice a week so I really look forward to eating there again. Ps. If you have diet preferences, let them know. They work hard to make some that you will like. They can modify the spicy heat, salt, etc. they're very kind.

Don's Cafe & Sandwich | Houston, TX…read more I stopped by Don's Cafe & Sandwich and tried the BBQ pork bánh mì, and it was delicious! The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside, yet amazingly soft on the inside. And the BBQ pork? So tender and full of flavor! I'll definitely be back to try some of their other items!

Don cafe brings lots of memories. I started coming here when I was a freshman in high school and…read moreI'm glad it's still around. This spot is a staple of Chinatown that is known for their banh mi sandwiches. To this day their sandwiches are still solid. Quality has definitely went down over the years but it's still good enough for me to come back. My go to order are usually their banh mi dac biet (special combination), eggs rolls and Vietnamese coffee. The meat is fresh and filling just wish they spread the bread with more pate. It seems like over the years they put less and less. Their Egg rolls always come hot and fresh & it's thick too. Vietnamese coffee as expected; strong and it'll have you up all day. This time around I ordered their bun Bo hue just to switch things up a little bit and my friend got the chicken vermicelli with egg rolls. The broth for my bun Bo hue was extremely bland and had really no lemongrass flavor. The meat was also chewy. I asked the cashier if they have that stinky shrimp paste sauce just to add more flavor into the broth unfortunately they don't offer that to customers anymore. Although that paste smells extremely bad it's a game changer. My friend vermicelli was filling and for 11.50 you get your bang for your buck. The chicken had nice flavors and is tendered. The egg rolls came out piping hot. The fish sauce was nice. From now on I'll come here for their vermicelli and banh mi's. They also have pho but I think I'll pass on that since their bun Bo hue was not good. It's just not a place for soup. Service was not the most friendly but fast. There is a Hispanic gentleman taking command of the line yelling out orders in Vietnamese and making sure we get our food in a timely manner. The restaurant has no frills but just know that their sandwiches are legit. Will I come back? Absolutely.

I came for coffee/ tea/ and desserts, and boy did they deliver! its fairly new, they have a lot of pastries, but you can tell which ones are gonna be a little sweeter. we got knafeh, Spanish latte, and hot tea with a good lil conversation on the side. the place is buzzing in the evening time, but easily can snag a seat during the day or late afternoon.

It's kind of a combination of all 3 and I saw people studying, people bringing their family, and friends hanging out. First the good- it's a nice clean place with cute decor. They also have a very large selection of middle eastern pastries and deserts that you don't find in other places and a decent savory menu if you don't want your A1C to shoot up too high. You go and order and they'll bring your food, drink, or desert to you if it's something that needs to be prepared. It's a nice touch that gives it that upscale feeling. I'm not sure if they are actually wait staff that can take your order too or they just multi-task as order takers at the counter, prepare the food, clean tables, or what. Of course, for all the nice environment they provide, they charge a little more than say the Seattle corporate chain that shall not be named again but it's worth it and I totally get it. The part that I don't get is that when I ordered hot tea and I went to the counter with the sweeteners and such, I didn't see any other milk or creamer - fresh or otherwise. When I asked one the above mentioned waiters who was walking by if I could have some, I was told "We don't do that ". In fact, he almost looked offended that I would ask such a thing . I'd completely understand the lack of milk or creamer if I were sitting in a bazaar in Tehran, a tea house in Istanbul but I was in Houston, Texas, so denying a splash of dairy felt like a bizarre, unnecessary hill to die on. Also, besides the gentleman with the beard, nobody else was smiling or seemed approachable and after the tea incident and asking for the wifi password and again seeming to offend another person by asking, I didn't want to bother them that the wifi was not working. Even after I connected to the right SSID (it's the VIP one, not the Guest), internet was down so I had to use my own hotspot. Anyway, I hope this was a misunderstanding because I have to have something to cool off my tea or coffee and if it's ok for Captain Picard to put milk in his Earl Grey tea, then I feel like I'm in good company too and I really would like to try them again at some point. If I can't even put milk in my coffee or tea then I don't see that happening. Edit: After seeing the response on the tea, I really thought it was a misunderstanding but this is going to be a dealbreaker for me. It's one thing to serve the tea without anything added to it but to prevent a grown adult from adding it to their tea and making it the way they like is just a bit much.
