We go there almost every month. Hibachi and sushi is excellent. Pricy though. But by far best sushi around the area.

I can't decide whether to give four or five stars. Really good sushi so five for that but no liquor license so you have to buy your own at the store next door. Ok that saves me money so should really be five stars all round. Had takeout for lunch and I was surprised it taste so good. I got the scallop hibachi lunch to go with fried rice. Very flavorful and sooo filling. For $14 I would say it was a great deal. My coworker ordered the bento box and she loved her food too! Will be coming back. read more

On a Friday night, at 8:30, we were ignored walking into the restaurant--for quite a while until we asked that we be seated, since they don't close until 10pm. We were seated at a hibachi grill. We were told there is no way they would allow us to order sushi--"the table next to us is waiting 45 minutes for theirs, and the sushi chef wants to leave." The hibachi chef was nice, but the food was very bland. We had to ask for water, and brought wine. Terrible attitude, terrible service, bland food. Go anyplace else. I wish I got what I ordered. I have ordered the tuna tartar many times prior to the Covid shut down. When the restaurant re opened I was so happy to be able to get the typical items I get from Kiku. Unfortunately, I ordered the tuna tartar when the restaurant re opened, but it looked like dog/cat food. This time I requested chucks of tuna, as it used to be. The minute I walked through the doors I was welcomed by the chef who told me he doesn't make dog food. So rude. I'm the customer and I'll pay for what I expect. The cashier told me they will make it the way I want it and how it was used to be made for $20, like no. So, I said no and to cancel the item. She looked at me like I had 2 heads. She said she didn't know how to cancel the item and refund me. She asked me to call the company who handles their app and request a refund. Like seriously??? 3.5 stars. I stopped here on my way back from North Jersey and it was not very busy on a Tuesday at 6PM. The service was very attentive and it was not very crowded. So I can't speak for how the staff would act under pressure or how loud it could possibly get with a full crowd. As for the food I ordered the Sashimi regular plate at $27 smack-a-roos which consisted of 21 pieces of decent sized fresh tuna, yellow tail and the like. The tuna was bland but all other species were very tasty. The noodles that the table next to me ordered looked very good. Menu is pretty extensive too. There is also a hibachi area which was not too well separated from the main dining area so the smells were a little overwhelming. If I ever go back I'm trying the noodles. read more

I have been here several times for lunch and it is great. However, the service on the weekend is terrible. For hibachi, they rush you in and speed you through dinner so fast your head spins! It seems like they want you to be seated at the top of the hour, and within 60 minutes they want to have the table clear for the next group. So, you have about 52 minutes to select your dinner from the menu, order, eat soup, eat salad, watch the chef cook, catch a piece of shrimp in your mouth, eat rice, eat veggies, eat meat, get the check, pay the check, and get out. I saw people at other tables rolling their eyes suffering from the same problem. I took my wife and kids for my son's birthday and it was not relaxing at all. The staff (especially one older Asian woman) raced us through the meal. I told her it was my son's birthday and wanted a candle on his desert, but she rushed us through the meal and brought the check without ever even saying happy birthday! It seems like they only use 3 of the 4 hibachi tables. Instead of racing everyone through 3 tables, they should just open the 4th and let the customers relax. read more

Both times we had Hibachi but the sushi take out is always busy so that's on our list to try next as there aren't too many sushi places around here I'm hoping it's as good as the Hibachi. Made the mistake of going after a winter storm! We just got power in the area and this place has always been on point until today! We ordered two appetizers but only one came out, we didn't say anything and just let it go our shiitake mushrooms and asparagus tips did come out. The mushrooms were so tough you can barely chew them. That was sent back. We both ordered filet habachi, everything was good as far as the rice and a side of noodles but the filet smelled and tasted bad! They obviously didn't throw out any old or expired meat and tried to serve it to the customers! We paid for our sodas and left the owner wasn't apologetic and was pissed as if it's our fault! We went here with friends and overall we all had a good time. We did the Hibachi experience and brought our own wine/beer. Ok, so when we first arrived we couldnt find a parking spot in their lot or the lot adjacent so we made our own parking spot lol hoping to not get a ticket - so something needs to be done about that; then we had to wait about 20 minutes past our reserved time for our table and waiting area is not the greatest, no real place to sit and wait. So we opened a bottle of wine and stood around drinking some wine.The restaurant tried to make up for the wait by giving us an extra dish of edname when we sat at our table which was nice. We shared the hibachi table with other people and that was fine except they crammed you in for every inch so seating was very tight. On to the food... I thought the food was excellent, we had sushi, soup and salad to start and all was great and fresh. Then on the Hibachi most of us had steak and shrimp. The food was very good ( always salty of course : ) ) but cooked to our liking , and we did enjoy our meals. We all shared one dessert, the fried ice cream and banana which was verrrry yummmmy as well.So overall, we did enjoy - maybe next time we'll plan for the early seatings so we dont have to wait and can park somewhere. This was the closest place selling Koran food from my work. Tried hot stone bowl and it was quite good taste. Not many Korean dishes and all are little expensive even for lunch manues. It's more like Japanes and hibachi place selling few of Korean foods on side. Serving was slow or didn't get much attention. Saw hibachi show next group having and not so much to see. My department brought in a large party to celebrate a colleague's birthday on November 19, 2014. There was also another large party coming in. Some of us definitely went for the hibachi and others wanted sushi. When each of us arrived, we were told that all of us were not allowed to have hibachi because they weren't going to turn on the hibachi grill and the meal would be prepared in the kitchen. As we ordered, some ordered sushi, a few teriyaki chicken and the rest of us wanted hibachi. When the waitress got to the 5th to last person who requested hibachi, she was told no more hibachi. Finally the waitress gave into the rest of my colleagues. The food itself was extremely bland. If you want top notch hibachi, go to SoGo 46 in Denville on Rte 46W. That is by far the best hibachi I have ever had. This place is not equipped mentally to handle two large parties at once. It's either that or laziness. You think they would be happy to accommodate multiple large parties because of the amount of money made. There are plenty other restaurants in Bedminster and Basking Ridge that are better than here. To her surprise it was cooked in teriyaki which she doesn't like. We asked the waitress because we thought they made a mistake. She said that is the way they prepare it. We found this strange since my wife has ordered this many times in the past and it has never come with teriyaki. We did a quick Internet search to confirm that hibachi is cooked with soy, butter and garlic. Next we looked at the menu and saw that it said soy, butter and garlic but no teriyaki. Next we showed it to the waitress and the manager. They say that they add teriyak and i insisted on charging us because we ordered it. Not sure if the I'm more bothered by the fact that they lied on the menu or how they treat us. The sushi was mediocre to boot. read more

As far as Hibachi goes the food was particularly tasteless and overpriced. Between my wife and I we had chicken, shrimp and lobster. I didn't see the chef use any kind of garlic or seasoning that you would usually expect from any decent Hibachi joint. In general good, but not great. I would go back being the area in general does not have much in the way of good sushi. Here is the scoreboard: Sushi: 4 star. Fresh, tasty and overall great. Presentation was very boring though, and let's face it, we eat with our eyes. Soup/Salad: 3 star. It was fine. Nothing to write home about. The salad was surely not the crispest freshest veggies, but the ginger dressing was good. Service: 2.5 star. It was OK, but I think I was expecting more. Not particularly friendly, fast or courteous. Didn't even get the usual goodbye/thanks from the sushi chefs while leaving (and don't know why I expect that either, just seems to happen in most places...right?). Decor/seating: 3 star. The table was a bit small for the 2 of us, like having to move stuff around to fit the plates. That annoys me, especially when bigger tables were empty (we went lunchtime). So, if you are in the area and craving some raw fish, by all means this place will not offend you I'm sure. You won't be calling your BFF Yoshi and telling him to cancel his reservations at Blue Ribbon in NYC to come try it though. read more
