NEVER USE this company for your fireplace installation of fixing the problems with you fireplaces! They are very rude and unprofessional. Kevin Fisher can charge your credit card without getting your approval. He would just use your credit card you gave him for the initial work and then would carge it at any time. NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD! He would not want come back and fix any problem you have. Very inconsiderate people. Our fireplace stopped working right after they installed it. As many times we were trying to bring the technician back, he refused to come. They always blame you or somebody else for their own problems. I'm very upset with this company. As another person said :It seems that their business model is to come out for 1/2 hour and collect their $125 fee, for nothing read more

This is a wonderful customer service focused company. I try to get the annual summer maintenance every year, but there have been the occasional instances where Our fireplace has needed mid season service. Randy Kidd is a great business man. He knows his company, keeps it honest, and does excellent hands on work on the units. The installation was efficient and neat, and the price very competitive. We love our gas fireplace, and would recommend this company to anyone who is considering installation of one, or conversion from wood burning to gas. read more

I recommended Kidd Fireplace several years ago. We still love our Mendota. I can only add that their service is top notch. We just had our annual maintenance visit. Randy always calls if he is going to be even a few minutes late. His care is meticulous. He is so careful, cleans and adjusts everything and checks for proper functioning. He explains what he is doing. Highly professional as well as pleasant. We actually look forward to these annual service calls--Thank you, Randy! read more

I would never use them again and would never recommend them. They were excellent at selling me a $3,500 Napolean gas fireplace. Told us they couldn't install the fireplace because our home was too far away, but neglected to tell us that our warranty would be voided if they didn't install it. Helpfully printed out the installation guide so that we could build the enclosure before the fireplace was delivered, EXCEPT they printed the WRONG guide so it was the wrong size and had to be torn down and rebuilt. The fireplace didn't work from day 1, installed by licensed electrician, when the electrician said that the control module didn't work I called them to get another control module and was then told that I had to pay $175 for the part because of the voided warranty. I would never have bought it from them if they had told me that I would have no warranty. I could have purchased the unit closer to home. Could not get any technical help from Kidd and cannot order parts directly from the Napolean. Kidd could not order parts the same day I called which made wait times unnecessarily long. My fireplace is now working and it is beautiful, but I would highly recommend that you buy from someone else. Service is not a priority with Kidd. read more

Don't be fooled by Kidd Fireplace services!!! Walking out of their showroom was the smartest thing I've done in awhile. The mistake I made was calling them in the first place and having Randy come out. As other's have noted on Yelp, I was also charged $125 for him to come out and do nothing for me. He was trying to sell me on a whole other unit and get me to his showroom. When I did spend some time there with him he just wanted to sell me a new unit and as I inquired further about how much different units would cost he quoted, "it's gonna be about $5,000 out the door no matter how you slice it!" Well this girl soon after walked out and a good thing too! He's NOT after my best interest! Luckily I found a great guy (Earle Aku, 510-584-6784) who replaced my thermocouple and found a disconnected spill switch in the back that was triggering my pilot to not stay on. He also connected an automatic thermostat and now my heater goes on automatically! I am so happy that I found the right guy and didn't pay any more to Kidd Fireplace! read more

I had these folks come out an service my fireplaces a year ago last May and I was happy with the result. The fireplace worked all winter long. Yesterday I attempted to fire it up and the pilot light went out. Tried several times to light it, no dice. Called Kidd and was first asked if they had serviced at my home before. After being placed on hold, they came back to the phone and told me this: (1) We are not doing regular maintenance on any fireplaces until AFTER the new year and (2) We can come out and look at your fireplace for repair purposes but the first available appointment is December 16. HUH? And as for DECEMBER 16? Yesterday was NOVEMBER 17! It's cold and I need my fireplace working in my family room. Not happy. This is how they treat return customers? Obviously so. Disappointed, to say the least. I gave them such a great review the first time, it's hard to believe this business is the same business I worked with in 2013. read more

Love our new gas fireplace. The folks at Kidd Fireplace are terrific - Randy, Jason, Perry and Kevin. Installation was so smooth. I highly recommend Kidd. Looking forward to being cozy with new fireplace. read more

Hello, I agree with all of the negative reviews for Kidd. We had the same experience with dealing Randy and the company. We have a pellet stove which is no longer being manufactured. There is an expert on these stoves in Oregon who can help troubleshoot via phone. Even with telephone with contact with this man, and excellent manual which he refused to consult, Randy did not have a clue. He is confused and incompetent and it was no $125 but $200+ and still not fixed. How does this business stay in business?? Adding injury to insult he managed to put a deep scratch in my hardwood floor. Which, of course was denied. I now need to find a GOOD honest service/repair person. read more

These guys are the best! I walked into their showroom at the height of their busy season (early November) and they immediately helped me pick out the right set for my home and worked around my schedule to help set up installation. The work was perfect and we love our fireplace! On top of it - they are all super nice and helpful. Highly recommend them. read more

These guys are easy to work with, very professional and they stand behind their work. I had them install a gas stove to heat my cottage, and when the model I picked didnt have enough oomph to head up the place, they came and swapped it out for a bigger model without charging any additional labor! Happy customer... read more

During my search for two gas log fireplace sets one of the places I visited was Kidd Fireplace. When I walked in, the man sitting at the entrance desk completely ignored me...no one else was there but me. After a while I told him I was there to shop for gas log fireplaces and he rudely pointed to another guy and told me to talk to him. Perry was helpful and answered my questions. No way I would purchase my log sets from Kidd but, after buying them from another vendor, I needed an additional part and called Kidd again. When I did, the person that answered the call was again very rude "I don't know what you're talking about." Note that at this point, they did not know I hadn't bought the log set from them. So, if you're in the market, buy your logs online. Hansen Wholesale was the best and they ship free. read more

I called Kidd to get some information on a gas insert and whether our chimney might need some repairs before installing one. He was so kind and informative. He helped me to understand that I was actually talking about a gas log set and then explained the difference and what I might need in terms of repairs if I went with one versus the other. After I repair the chimney, I will go back to them to purchase the insert or gas log set because he was so helpful. read more

Randy is awesome!! We have had a few people look at our gas fireplace that was installed by a previous owner and no one could fix it. Randy came out and knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. He had parts available and now we have our downstairs living room ready for winter. We are so happy that we found Kidd Fireplace and will recommend them to all of our friends looking for a new, custom install or repair. read more

Kevin worked with me on 3 different fireplaces which an architect had spec'd. The architect hadn't researched any properly. All were issues from the start and Kevin was incredibly helpful. He presented numerous options to try and make things work. All the people there were professional and wonderful to work with. Thank you! read more

Kidd Fireplace services installed our gas fireplace in 2006. Jason was the installer and he was thorough, professional and very helpful. In January 2010, the fireplace wouldn't light. Randy said a spider had probably made a web in the burn orifice. He was absolutely right. He cleaned that out in the first half hour which is the the minimum labor charge. It was no easy task since he had to take everything apart to get to it! I was in kind of a rush to get it serviced and they accomodated me on that also which I greatly appreciated. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone. read more

Five stars for Kidd Fireplace! My fire set was installed on November 12, 2011.Not being satisfied because of sizing misjudgment, about 3 months later I called to ask what I could do to alter the set. The owner offered to replace and upgrade the set at his expense stating if I wasn't happy, he wasn't happy. The installer was polite and very careful to keep the area clean. The new set is perfect. I highly recommend Kidd for service and integrity. read more

I had Randy come over from Kidd fireplace to service my gas fire place that I purchased from a different store who outsourced their servicing. It had a few quirks that I was worried about and he explained to me what they were and was very informative. It turned out to be just regular maintenance was needed. He did a maintenance job on it and I was very happy with him. On time and very professional. Answered all my questions. Also showed me a few things I can do to keep it running properly. Basically some preventative maintenance tips. read more

We strongly recommend Kidd Fireplace Services. Kevin did an excellent job in explaining the various options and trade-offs for fireplace inserts, helped us picking the right choice, and came quickly for a visit to discuss the project and the cost. Jason did the actual installation in an outstanding manner - high quality and very professional service. We love our fireplace insert - every dollar spent with Kidd is worth it! read more

This past winter I had a Mendota gas insert installed by Kidd. I have been very pleased with the responsiveness and courtesy of all the staff at Kidd. As it turned out, the unit that was first installed had quality control problems (no fault of Kidd) and so the whole experience turned out to be something of an ordeal. Finally, the unit had to be replaced, with Mendota providing a new unit at no expense to me. Throughout the several months of trying to figure out why the original unit was emitting a strong and very unpleasant odor when turned on, Randy and others at Kidd were very receptive and worked hard to resolve the problem. I would highly recommend Kidd to anyone wanting the products and service they offer. read more

Still as fantastic as ever! Great service, fast, affordable and just generally good people.

I went down to their new location and made an appointment. Kevin came out and gave me a quote on a Regency. He was able to give me options for my existing fireplace from the 60s. We decided to go with an insert which looked great and worked very well for my home. They came back out the second time to install a custom chase pan. Looks beautiful! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Jason came out for the install, he was professional, competent, and on-time. Work quality was excellent! Overall, a good experience. read more

I had Kidd Fireplace install a fireplace gas insert in my house and working with them was a very positive experience and the end result was excellent. I have an old house (built in 1910) with one of those very small fireplaces originally designed to burn coal. This left me with very few options; pretty much only 2. Kidd Fireplace had them both and discussed them both with me in the showroom. At that point I wanted to keep moving forward and we set up a site visit for them to check my fireplace and site conditions. They came out and everything was a 'go'. I then made my final choices based on info I got from discussions in the Kidd Fireplace showroom and info online I was encourage to look over. I sent an email to the shop and Kidd Fireplace promptly sent me a job proposal, I signed it and got an install date. The install team (Jason, Terry, and Jr.) did a superb job: Efficient, clean, fast with attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship. read more

Randy came out, charged his high rate for checking out our gas fireplace that wasn't igniting consistantly. He said he would need to see if he could find parts, but after putting the system back together it was worse then when he arrived, completely dead. After trying to follow-up with him several times, he kept giving excuses about getting parts and he never returned so he made money for doing nothing. We had someone else come out, who got it working on their first trip out. Do not use Kidd Fireplace Services he either does not know what he is doing or it is a scam to get money for the initial visit without fixing anything. read more

I would like to recommend Kidd Fireplace and Spa for gas fireplace inserts. They have a wide selection of units, and were very attentive, helpful in answering questions, and courteous in all our dealings. The installation went very well--the installers were on time, did their work efficiently and thoroughly, and now I have a beautiful fireplace! read more

My husband and I are repeat customers with Kidd Fireplace. Four years ago, Kidd Fireplace installed a Regency gas fireplace for us in our home of 31 years. We just relocated to another home in another community last month. My husband and I visited Kidd Fireplace's showroom last month and Kevin took a lot of time explaining the features of all the gas fireplace brands they currently carry, and advised us on the size unit to choose that would meet the heating needs of our family room. Kevin gave us some additional reading materials, we did our due diligence, and then made a decision on the brand and model we wanted. Kevin came out to our house and took a look around at our gas line situation. There were some peculiarities in our particular setup and it was apparent that this was not going to be a straightforward installation. Kevin said his installers would make it work, and make it work they did. Jason and Terry, the two installers who have been with Kidd Fireplace for years, came out to the house and worked diligently to extend the gas line to where it needed to be, installed the gas fireplace unit, and then explained to us in detail how to change the batteries in both the remote control and the remote receiver inside the fireplace. I took digital photos of how to do this which I will have for future when the batteries do need to be changed. Jason was uber patient with me while I asked questions (Fireplace 1 for Dummies) until I understood what I would need to do when it comes time to change the batteries. Probably the best thing we can say about Kidd Fireplace is that we are repeat customers, and people don't do repeat business with companies from which they receive bad products or services. We plan to order another fireplace insert from Kidd Fireplace for our living room so we can heat that area and save on heating the entire house with the central furnace. I recommend Kidd Fireplace and Spa without reservation. read more

Other than the 2-3 week wait I was 100 percent satisfied and will call on them again if my 3 fireplaces need service.

Randy was very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. Unfortunately, the same thing cannot be said about Kevin as a sales person for Cal Spa. Even though he said he took Cal Spa training classes, he doesn't seem to be able to communicate his knowledge well to the customer or translate it into a clear sales proposal. Try to stay away from him at all cost. Make sure your invoice matches what you have agreed on in the proposal. Don't give him your credit card number unless you are absolutely certain about what you're going to buy. Their computer system definitely needs an overhaul, because their price list and data base for Cal Spa often does not match what is promoted on the Cal Spa web site. In the end they delivered a working spa, but then you feel like you're on your own. They need to rethink what a transparent purchasing experience and good customer service should look like. read more

From our first visit to Kidd's show room to the final installation of our Mendota gas insert everyone on staff was professional, helpful and courteous. Kevin & Randy gave us good advise in selecting our fireplace. The crew who did the installation were craftsmen, They also gave us good advise and listened to our wishes. We were concerned about keeping the integrity of the art deco design of our fireplace and they designed a casing that did just that. We were so pleased with the results of our beautiful fireplace. Thank you to all at Kidd's. read more

One of our Mendota gas fireplaces wouldn't stay lit. The national service company diagnosed the problem and recommended Randy. He came the next day. He diagnosed the same problem and took less time to fix it than the manufacturer's national service rep had suggested. The fireplace had to be taken apart to replace the pilot assembly. Randy was very pleasant, professional and efficient. The charges were reasonable and he rebuilt the "logs" to provide a more pleasant fire. A very nice bonus. read more

The dude Randy is asked to fine-tune our gas fireplace in December 2009 when it was a bit slow to ignite. Somehow, he proceeds to fry the whole thing. After 4 attempts with 4 different sets of parts, 8 months later and $1000.00, the fireplace was finally fixed today. To add insult to injury, the guy replaces the igniter that actually worked before he started and asks for $225. What a joke Mr. Kidd- I thought YOU MUST BE "KIDDING"! I protested over the phone and told him he was asking far more than the part was worth but he refused to give us a break despite all the incompetent work as well as 8 months of lag time and bad parts he was working with, and then he demands $225. I get home and check the price of the part on the internet. Sure enough, the exact same part retails for $109. The guy charges a very high hourly rate for unreliable work, and proceeds to rip you off on the parts. DO NOT WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME AND HARD EARNED MONEY. Wait- I just tried the remote and IT DONESN'T EVEN WORK. ARGH!!!!!!!!! read more
