I called about replacing a chimney cap. This seemingly simple task was exacerbated by the lack of responsive chimney vendors. In contrast, I spoke to the office on the same day that I called initially called in and an appointment was scheduled soon after. On the first site visit, we agreed on a price. However, on the second visit, there was some miscommunication and the replacement cap was smaller than the original one. Luis explained that I would need a custom fabrication to get the original size. We agreed to an escalated price and finish. On the third visit, Luis brought a cap that had been spray painted black, but most of it looked extremely faint and rubbed off on my fingers. He explained that the fabricator didn't have the black metal. I looked up online how to paint this and explained what primer and paint to use. On the fourth visit, everything went smoothly. Of the quotes I obtained: - Luis: $700 smaller cap, $1100 custom bigger cap - Another business that came for a quote: $900 (I agreed), then no response for weeks, then price increased to $1100 when I reached out. - Another company that provided a verbal quote based on pictures I sent: $3000+ This was a more complicated job than anticipated, but I appreciate Luis and Carlito for their positive attitude and commitment in meeting our agreed-to specifications. For Chimney Cleaning and Cap Damper installation. I contacted Luis through Yelp. He replied within a day. First came to look at chimney and to give an estimate. Very nice guy. Seemed very knowledgeable about chimneys and accessories. He ordered the part and a week later came to do the job. Included was a cleaning of chimney and installation of a Cap Damper. The work was neat. He protected the floors and taped off the chimney during cleaning. Everything was done within 1 hour and a half. I called Clean Pros to figure out why smoke from my stove was being vented into my basement instead of out through the chimney. Luis climbed on the roof and then informed me that I needed two new caps and that the flue for the fireplace was missing a damper. Sounded reasonable. He came back two weeks later, installed the parts, and showed me how to operate the new damper. Works nicely, but it's not why he was there. When I asked about the stove vent, he gave me a bewildered look, and I proceeded to explain that the stove was the issue I cared about. He then showed me the piece of chimney he had removed; it was a pile of smashed masonry in my back yard. Apparently, he had thrown it down from the roof 3 stories above, with no regard to my two children (and a cat) who might've been playing back there. Luckily, nobody was hurt. Stunned and furious, I nearly threw him out, but decided I'd try to salvage the visit and have him at least look at the stove. So he returned to the roof, and we spent a few minutes troubleshooting. I cooked a few burgers and he claimed he saw smoke coming out of his new vent. He tried to convince me that he had fixed the problem, despite the fact that he had forgotten about his original task and did nothing specific to address the stove vent. But I didn't see smoke going into the basement this time, so I paid him and sent him on his way. A few days later, I cooked burgers again, and this time the smoke alarm went off in my basement. Again. So, I'm out $800+, the problem is not fixed, and I'm not willing to let this guy near my house again due to his endangering my family. An awful experience. read more

They also sealed our chimney stack with cement since we don't use it. They were very reliable, professional, friendly and efficient. Background: We bought a home in 2017 and were told that we wouldn't be able to use the fireplace unless we bought an insert, or had mortar repaired. We never used the fireplace, but had the desire to do so this Winter. Fireplace inserts typically need either natural gas, or electricity, neither of which are close or readily available where our fireplace is. So, as such, we decided we wanted to repair the mortar.
