This would've been a 5 star review but... Scheduling was complicated. I was getting phone calls, messages and text from three different numbers and it was confusing. I thought I had an appointment confirmed but then I was told because I didn't call someone back it was cancelled..then they showed up?? The guys were nice. Eli explained what they were doing. They were quick and efficient and they left everything clean. They did a great job. They explained what they did and what they saw that might need work And at that point, they walked out the door with a five star review. Here's where it gets dicey. When they came, my flue was open. Being widowed I've learned to make fires but I have never opened or shut the flue. It was open when they got there and when they left the last thing they said was "OK now you can make a fire". But they didn't tell me that they had shut the flue or damper. I didn't know it was a thing until I made a fire and my house filled up with smoke. Opening all the doors and windows didn't work. The fire alarm kept going off. I couldn't make it stop. I shut the glass on the fireplace. Ended up having to call the fire department. I had to get my cats and throw them out in the rain and wait outside. The fire dept confirmed the flue was closed. They opened it and they brought in big fans to air the smoke out of my house. It's still smell smoky. The worst thing is this was super traumatic for me. I didn't know why the house was smoky I didn't know what to do. I didn't have my husband or anyone to help and I was panicked. It was a really horrible experience except for the hot firefighters lol. I was really pleased with the quality and hard work of the technician in rebuilding my cement chimney crown. However, the true test of business integrity is how they respond if something needs additional attention, especially after payment. In my case, unfortunately, a technical "drip line" element designed to help avoid water running down the face of the chimney stack accidentally shifted during the cement installation. When the mold was removed a couple of days later (and I was able to get on the roof for an inspection), it was clear that the finished product was not as intended. That said, having remodeled many homes, I know "stuff" can happen with any trade. I immediately notified the business and sent pictures. We both agreed that, while not a catastrophic issue, they would send a tech back out to remedy the situation. Though it took a bit longer to schedule than I had hoped, a tech came out and corrected the problem with a really clean, professional solution. The original crown had lasted 50 years... After a fumigation company broke our chimney in the middle of a a wet Sacramento winter, we needed to find a repair, FAST. I noticed my first winter that the fireplace leaked and also started seeing cracking and bubbling in the ceiling over the fireplace. So, I called A Cozy Chimney. Eli came out to do an inspection a few days later. The inspection was quick and thorough. Being a new homeowner, he explained the issues in such a simple way (including drawing me diagram to understand the parts of a fireplace/chimney) that I completely understood what was wrong and my options to fix it. He sent me a quote very quickly and gave me a few different pricing options to meet my financial situation, which I so appreciated. I also really appreciated the lack of pressure or judgement in which option to choose. After checking with a few friends/family who work in construction & architecture, I decided to have the entire thing repaired/rebuilt and made into a functional fireplace. Our Chimney started leaking a week ago. A Cosy Chimney came out to assess the leak and charged us a deposit for replacing the crown. They tarped the Chimney after removing the existing crown and told us they would let us know when they can have the new one in. There was a huge storm 3 days ago and the tarp is now leaking. We let them know asap since the leak is now worst than before. The technician told us that they would come out 2 days ago and texted and apology for not coming out. We called their office and was told that no one put a ticket in and to wait. When the technician finally texted us, it was to tell us that he cannot come out. I spoke to a helpful lady from their office who told me that this typically costs $300, but it depends on size so a technician would call me to schedule a time to take a look. Eli, a technician called me and quoted $3000 for custom crown cap based on a picture I texted him. I asked how he could make such a determination without any measurements and that I found similar prefabricated ones on sale online for around $300. He implied that's the normal going rate. He offered that to save money, since there's no active fireplace attached, I could pay $1500 to fill it with concrete instead. This was all without a site visit. I live in an old 100-year-old house with 2 chimneys. This one is used to ventilate our kitchen hood. So obviously this was not an option. I received 2 other quotes for custom crowns in the $1000 range so this company is charging approximately 3X the normal rate. read more

Terrible service. Tech canceled our first appointment the morning of, then no-showed to the rescheduled second appointment. When I called the company to figure out what was going on, they had no record of our appointment (confirmation photos attached) but said they would have someone call ASAP. Another tech called and said they would arrive that night 4-430PM. They called at 515PM saying they wanted to come the following day instead. The tech finally actually shows up, proceeds to look at our fireplace and says it will be $399 to clean it instead of the original $229 cleaning fee we were quoted. As we discussed why this was the case (because of a crack that has been there for years and others have cleaned with no problem...) the tech had the nerve to say "you need to decide what to do because I have other clients waiting"... after THEY kept us waiting for 2 days with missed/canceled appointments. When I refused the service, they charged me $69 for their "inspection". They also quoted us $1600 to repair some cracks, which is insanity. I called another service who came and cleaned the fireplace without trying to upcharge, did a great job, and gave us repair estimates at half the price of what this company offered.
