Iced Latte

Great coffee spot to start the day! I think it's cool that this cafe also doubles as a wine bar, which is pretty unique. The interior is spacious with wide tables and plenty of seats, so this cafe is perfect for catching up with friends or doing some work. The owner was at the cafe when I stopped by, and she was so welcoming and friendly! The iced oat latte she made me was delicious, and my husband loved his cortado. They have tons of seasonal flavored coffee that all sound extremely creative and delicious, though I haven't tried those yet. Perhaps I'll try a flavored drink next time to switch things up!

Kidd is another good place in Mason to get coffee. It seems there's so many. This is unique because they also have wine. It kind of gives it a couple different atmospheres. The inside is usually pretty quiet in the day and it gets livelier when it's later. It looks like it was a house. It adds to the charm. This is much better than a shop in a strip mall. In the warmer months there's a nice patio to sit at. The interior will have to do in winter. It's okay. The interior is such a relaxing place if there aren't events and meetings going on. I had the regular coffee. It's about $3 for the medium. They have non dairy options. I really like sipping and sitting in here. It's like being in a house. You can get lots of work finished or just goof off.

Love this place! It's a great place to work or to meet a friend for coffee, breakfast, or lunch. While there aren't a ton of food options, what they have his homemade and really good.

I got a coffee from there, which was in a foam (!!!) cup. The coffee tasted ok but I was shocked at the the idea of using foam cups for hot coffee -- "the styrene monomer from which the cup is made is suspected of causing cancer and other health problems, and miniscule amount of styrene could leach into hot coffee." Torn table cloths

Back in November 2019, I called Kidd Coffee to reserve a space for a cookie swap event on Sat, Dec 7th from 2:30-5:30. I spoke to a barista, she told me the cost was $30 for the downstairs back room and no deposit was necessary. A few days later, the owner called me. She indicated the barista was incorrect, the cost was $50 and did require a deposit. So I paid $25 to her over the phone and sent texted me a copy of the receipt. However, it was shared that if the party tab covered the cost it wouldn't be extra (I can't recall if it was her that said this or the barista on the first call or both of them?). I told the owner we were bringing in cookies but no beverages, that I would drive the party to patron her goodies (which we did). She told me I needed to bring my own cups for water, but she would ensure there was water for us too. (I forgot my cups, she acted annoyed and like it was a big deal, she said she would give me some this time but next time bring my own. When the barista brought out the water, she was super sweet and said it was no problem at all, and to let her know if I needed anything else at all. Her name was Katie, by the way) The party space is a bit dated, the booths have tears in them, the table cloths are all mismatched, have tears in them and they are taped down to the table with black duct type like tape. Not all tables had table covers. I added a few table cloths of my own, some table toppers and such and it was cute enough for what I needed. My party arrived, I gave them the speech about taking advantage to support a small local business, that the owner was great and helpful and I was glad to use the space. I praised it through the entire event. At the end of the event, I cleaned everything up, put the tables back, threw away our trash. I invited Katie out to look over the area to ensure it was all good. She said it looked great. I asked her if my party had a bill large enough to cover the rest of the fee (I know we spent over $50 in addition to the $25 deposit), she said yes, that I was all set and nothing else to pay. She thanked me for cleaning up the area. The next day, I get a text message from the owner to pay the rest of the rental fee and insisting that she did not tell me that it could be waived. I am not opposed to paying rental fees. However, I DO expect them to be on the same page about how they work and when/how to apply them. As I thought about the whole transaction and how it happened, I won't be paying the 'second' portion of that fee. In addition, I will not bring another event to Kidd Coffee - which is unfortunate because I do like the space and want to support small businesses!! Lesson learned, get it in writing.

Breakfast sandwich and espresso...

Good, friendly service. A neat place that has different places to sit separate from other areas. The espresso was pretty good. I will be back when I am in town again.

Not a huge fan of the coffee here. It's a decent space to sit and work, but I don't see myself coming back for the drinks.

You can either walk through the gun center or enter at the rear / side of the building. Either way it is a bit of a walk so could be a concern for anyone with mobility issues. I was surprised that there were not any disabled parking spots close to the side entrance. It's a large lounge, upscale and beautifully decorated though does not have an intimate feel. Majority of seating is tables vs. bar. The cocktail menu is unique and fun, with the different drinks named after famous and infamous gunslingers. I had a Baby Face Nelson which was attractive and delicious. At first I though it was a little weak but towards the end it hit with a bang (see what I did there). I also took advantage of the ladies night menu and got a $5 cucumber mint G&T. The cocktail pricing is what you'd expect, ranging from $12 to $16. The wine list is not extensive and I would not describe this as a wine bar. But, I would come here seeking a fancy cocktail anyway. No food served, but door dash menus are available and there is also a limited menu for direct delivery from the Indian restaurant across the road. The outdoor patio looks nice. We were there on the earlier side, around 5 PM on a weekday. Service was pretty attentive with only one waitress handling the tables. I think if they found a way to serve some simple appetizers and put in a railing along the walkway from the parking lot to the door (thinking of my husband here) I'd give it five stars. They have a weird rule in that they insist on scanning your ID, regardless of age, up until 7 PM any day - this is so that no one who orders a drink can go next door and shoot (where they also scan IDs). The shooting range closes at 7 PM. So shoot first, drink later.

On a mid Monday afternoon, we were the only patrons in the restaurant (or so it seemed). We sat on a high top in their huge bar area and were promptly served by a nice server. We ordered the crispy cauliflower from their HH menu (5.95) & it was very tasty (tossed in a sweet & sour sauce) with green onions and Thai basil Chilis. We also ordered their house cab for 6 bucks each. As for our entrees, I was craving a crispy chicken sandwich so I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich which came with not 1 but 2 small chicken breasts a slice of cheese and lettuce/tomato (unfortunately, no mayo). I ended up taking off one of the chicken patties and ate half of my sandwich and most of the fries (took the rest to go). My BFF ordered the steak tacos and fruit as his side. He said they were ok but not "real" tacos (duh, you don't come to a place like this for tacos lol) Everything was top notch, loved the atmosphere and laid back vibes. I'll have to look the nearest Firebirds up where I live (if they exist).

I've tried everything on the happy hour menu and they're all delicious and deliver accordingly in my opinion. My favorites are the fired up shrimp (not too hot, ask for sauce on the side if worried), the steak tacos (love the flavors on these, 10/10), the crispy cauliflower (never disappoints), and the cheeseburger sliders (also never disappoints). The drinks are always a hit (my favorite is the The Double Black Diamond Martini) and I love the presentation of the drinks being shaken and poured at the table, just makes it all a little more fun. Also, the dinner menu is amazing. Seriously just go check it out. The service is quick, everyone is friendly. Definitely go have yourself a good time at Firebirds.
