Trailhead Coffee is a coffee shop that's located within a bike shop. We visited this coffee shop twice while in Newport, KY and both experiences were excellent! The service was great and so was the food. The baristas were polite and had wonderful energy. We ordered a Veggie Quiche and Ham & Cheese Croissant for breakfast. To drink, I had an Iced Matcha Latte and my husband had a Hot Toasted Marshmallow. The best part about this coffee shop was all the dogs with their owners! read more

FIVE STARS time and time again. I wish I took pictures for this review but you just have to try and see yourself. Their matcha lattes are soooo good! I love when I see baristas actually making it the correct way. The iced coffees are a one sipper they are that good. If you are a chronic chugger of a good bev ... you will have to pace yourself here. The store concept is so cool too. I have never seen anything like it. Love this walk up window coffee idea! Such a cool concept, a perfect place to visit on a warm day or for a quick stop to work. They're part of a bicycle shop but still have plenty of seating both inside and out. Their coffee is so smooth and creamy. Although I love their Neighbors at Carabello, if you want a less crowded place and still some really good coffee this is a great spot. Trailhead Coffee is an underrated café in the back of Reser Bicycle Outfitters. They have a curated menu of coffee and tea beverages, and always a case of mouthwatering delights from the local North South Baking Co. The Space: On a sunny day, the order window is available from inside or outside as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Seating is somewhat limited inside, but I find it is usually available. This is in the back of a bicycle shop, so you can stroll and look at all the gadgets and bicycles while waiting for your order. The bicycle shop workers are also friendly, offering to assist in anyway. Eat/Drink: The barista is also so friendly! This visit, I got a peach tea and asked for it to be over ice. My drink was made with care, and my pastry was heated/toasted to perfection. Shop: I appreciate the merchandise for sale, there are always fun stickers, beanies, bags of coffee for sale and flyers for local events. Definitely an inviting and warm place, worth the stop! read more

Super unique coffee shop that is a full service bike shop and retailer. Outdoor tables & open wall walk up bar with stools to sit at. So much fun on a gorgeous day it is so friendly for people and dogs with that outdoor counter. If you want authentic coffee drinks other than brewed, like a macchiato, this is the place. It's drinks are authentic to what you are likely to find in other countries, like Italy. I was warmly greeted by a couple dogs, and the woman working there is VERY knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to have a conversation with. I had a cortado, which I thought was going to be a different drink. I didn't like the drink I got, but that has absolutely NOTHING to do with her or the business. I also got a cheddar scallion biscuit (came from Allez bakery) that was light, airy, and absolutely DELICIOUS!!! read more

Had a great experience stopping here on our way out of town! The barista was so friendly and helpful, and we appreciated that the menu included a note about accommodating folks who are hard of hearing. The coffee was very good and they had a creative selection of syrups. We tried the ginger cinnamon and brown maple, and both were good (and not overly sweet). This coffee shop is perfect simplicity. No frills and a small menu lead to a pretty perfect cup of coffee. Located in the back of Reser bicycle it can be easy to miss, keep your eyes peeled they have their own entrance down a side street. No need to learn any fancy names for coffee sizes here...they only come in one size! Let me recommend the grizzley. This place uses local made caramel and it adds just the right amount of sweetness. As a gal who doesn't love overly sweet coffee this was perfect for me! This is the only place in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky that offers Wood Burl Coffee and let me tell you, you've got to try it- in the coffee game, it's kind of amazing. It's roasted locally in Dayton, Ohio and the flavors change seasonally...it's that good! Get some! read more

Good luck finding a seat, you won't. Barista was rude and I spent 3.50 for brewed tea that isn't very good. I came here to support a small business as Carabello is closed on Sunday - seems as though they don't want my money. That small coffee place at the back of Reser Bicycle Outfitters serves seriously amazing coffee! Freshly ground locally sourced beans (from Columbus I believe), Lils bagels, Sixteen Bricks bread, great small sweet bites and snacks AND local pottery. It is opened even when the bike shop closes, so make sure to check the side door in the back! Would give them the extra star for Stroopwafels. It reminds me of the years I spent in The Netherlands and always brings a smile. Thank you! read more

A great quality espresso stop inside Reser Bicycle shop. Great coffee! Had a cappuccino that was perfectly extracted and served with beautiful latte art on top. Served in a unique cups from a local artist. The coffee is also roasted in OH in Dayton! Public announcement: they sell 16 BRICKS BAKERY bread, delivered once a week!! They also have Holtman's Donuts and Lil's bagels. Overall, totally impressed with this place! read more

This is a nice little coffee bar inside a bike shop right off of Monmouth! Being open on Sunday I stopped in and grabbed an almond-coconut milk latte (the only alternative milk they had) before heading off to church. The woman behind the bar was so kind! She seemed generally interested in how I liked my drink and accepted my offer of a new type of alternative milk. I really enjoyed the relaxed, homey atmosphere (with just two other people sitting at the bar) and how you are almost forced to converse because of the proximity. read more

Stopped in for an early morning meeting and was warmly greeted by Sam, the barista. I ordered a pour over of the Woodburl Colombia that they were offering, as well as a cortado with the same beans as espresso. The cortado was excellent, with the perfect balance of brightness and flavor that I like in espresso. The pour over, though, was incredible. I actually thought about it for most of the day. You can really tell that Woodburl roasts for specific beans and that Trailhead knows to brew them. It was a near perfect cup, in my opinion. They added a bartop since my last visit, I think, and the warm welcome and conversation was definitely refreshing. Thankful for this gem. The coffee is usually pretty awesome! Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with a grumpy barista who couldn't have been more unpleasant if she tried. I'm not sure what was going on in her life but she was definitely trying to spread her misery around. Please remember that attitude means everything in the service industry. Dignify your customers and you may get a great review or no feedback at all. Be unkind to your customer and they're definitely trying to log back into their yelp account to let you know!! Sorry. . . Came to try this coffee joint. Got our coffees and they had a very unpleasant off taste to them so we brought them back after just a sip and asked if we could possibly have them remade or replaced. We were met with a very snarky and rude barista basically calling us liars. I've worked in the service industry for a decade and would never speak to customers in this tone especially when it's very undeserved. Will not be returning. read more

Newport is lacking in open coffee shops on Sunday mornings so I decided to open my Yelp app and roll the dice. Trailhead Coffee, you looked super cool and I could see me being really into your vibe. I was desperate for a good cup of coffee and I had a feeling you'd deliver. You did. But will I ever return? Absolutely not. I'd just like to throw this out there: I've been to more coffee shops in my life than I can count. But I have never, EVER felt so unwelcome in an establishment before. The barista was rude, snide and rolled his eyes at every word I spoke. I felt like I had walked into a cool kids clubhouse and that I wasn't invited into. It's great to have a place that rotates premium roasters. They were out of their mainstay Stumptown espresso, so we had the pleasure of trying Woodburl Coffee. It was absolutely delicious. Paired with the granite bar and open window, it made for a delicious treat. The fact that it's in a bike shop can certainly be a double edged sword. Not sure I would venture in on a very busy day if I didn't have other business in the shop to attend to. But on a slow weekday it was great. read more

Awesome local coffee shop. Incredible baristas. Great treats to snack on. The shop: Probably one of the most interesting coffee shops in the entire city as it is inside Reser Bicycal Outfitters. It is a small shop with seating for 7/8 people indoors and another 4 when the garage door/window is open. The coffee: They regularly carry the best coffees around. Currently they are brewing Wood Burl Coffee Roasters from Dayton, Ohio. Wood Burl continues to roast different stuff, but there is usually an assortment of 3-5 different beans. I recommend you ask the barista what's good because they have a good pulse on what's freshest/best that day. read more

Get out of my neighborhood more. Well great people of Yelp, while doing so, I found an absolute gem of a coffee shop. Trailhead Coffee in Newport is awesome! It's a coffee shop in a bike/bike repair shop. Think Collective Espresso smack dab in the middle of a bike shop. The music playing was perfect for the mood and my barista, Eric, was very friendly. He asked about my plans for the day/weekend, we talked about our dogs, and he told me how he also works at Cheapside. He was a genuinely good dude and made the experience more pleasant. As for the coffee, they do pour overs and Chemex pours and the coffee was delicious! My go to in this setting is to have the barista pick whatever their favorite coffee is on the menu for me. I can't quite remember which one he chose but it was mind blowing for sure! So if you're ever in Newport and need to feed your coffee addiction, you have to give this place a try! read more

Trailhead is the best kept secret for coffee and espresso in Cincinnati. Just across the river in Newport, and tucked inside a bike shop you'll find Trailhead coffee. When the weather is nice, the side is opened-up and you can bike right up to the counter. Or you can sit inside at the counter when it's cold outside. The coffee is great, all fresh-brewed, or espresso, featuring one of my favorite roasters Woodburl. This is not a sit around and work on your computer kind of coffee bar though. It's great for a quick stop in for a drink, or hanging out after a group ride. While you're there check out Reser bike, they have a good selection of gear, parts, and incredibly friendly staff. While its mostly bike geeks hanging out, you'll fit in just fine and get a great cup of coffee. read more

I took a weekend trip to Cincinnati and had a Sunday brunch down the street from this place. The service was excellent. I thought the idea was very interesting, it being in a bike shop and all. I saw someone say that Cincinnati is a good place for coffee, but I was dubious until we found this place. Prices are exactly what you'd expect for good coffee ($2.5-$4 depending on style and bean variety). They don't really have any food. Maybe a few slices of pie. read more
