Point Perk is such a hidden gem ... especially for people who work or study remotely! I've visited a handful of times on weekdays, and am always struck by how quiet it is, and how productive I can be because of it. There's plenty of space to spread out, whether your stopping in solo, or with a group. The coffee is always on point, and on my most recent visit, I enjoyed some cold brew with vanilla cold foam. They also serve a variety of tasty-looking pastries, which I have yet to order, but am always tempted by. I would remiss if I didn't mention this coffee shop's mission. Point Perk falls under the nonprofit, The Point Arc, which provides jobs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It feels good to support such an important local cause, and I'll continue to stop into Point Perk as often as possible! read more

Right next to North South Baking, Point Perk sits and is one of the most adorable coffee shops we have been to! The service was incredibly friendly and the business supports adults with disabilities. The vibe was also nice and perfect for getting work done. We got the Mexican vanilla latte and it was a great recommendation. The flavor was deep and creamy. Great latte, weird vibe. The front is very small until you go into the side room with seating so waiting so long gets uncomfortable and cramped fast. Owner had an apprehensive vibe and when inquiring about flavors (as a full menu wasn't anywhere to be seen) she acted as if it was a bother even though we were first-time customers. This is my first time back to Point Perk since the pandemic began and also since they opened the attached dining/seating area! If you're reading a review that references "limited seating" it's probably an old review prior to this area opening. There was an ABUNDANCE of seating and virtually no one in this area. Honestly, this is my new best-kept secret (maybe I shouldn't even be writing this review). It's so hard to find a coffee shop where find ample seating so you can sit and hammer out some work! Look no further, Point Perk's new space has plenty of space and delicious caffeinated options. They also have garage door windows that they open up when the weather is nice enough, how cool! I'm definitely excited to work here when the garage doors are open so I can soak up the sun as I get shit done! Truly, with the addition of this space, this may be one of my new favorite places to work (and it's within walking distance of my house!). I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Point Perk is a cool, small coffee shop right at the edge Covington's Pike Street Corridor. If you love a neighborhood cafe in an incredibly beautiful downtown historic district: this is for you! There's limited seating here, so it may not lend itself to a long study/ reading session, but Point Perk is ideal to grab a quick coffee. It's just one street away from Mutter Gottes church (one of the most beautiful historic churches in the area), one street from Flying Axes, one street from Covington Station (a beautiful old train station) and just off the Madison Ave business district. Finally, a super close coffee shop to my office AND the best coffee shop I've found in Covington! First, the coffee is great. They use beans from Carabello Coffee in Newport, which is one of my favorites, so you know the coffee itself is high quality. Then, the menu is definitely a "craft coffee" menu, with pour-overs (either Hario v60 or Clever Dripper), and your general espresso drinks. However, they definitely make a point to make it an "approachable" coffee shop. If you want flavored Lattes, they do those too (I haven't tried one, but I'm sure it's great). They make a mean cappuccino. Also, rumor is they'll make you a French Press if you ask. Don't quote me on that though. Aside from just having good coffee, Point Perk exists for a mission. They work with/exist through The Point across the street, which works with people with disabilities, and Point Perk is an opportunity to help teach them employable skills. Every time I've been in or walked by, there's always people inside/outside and everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is that they close at 11am right now. Go support them and hopefully they'll be able to extend the hours! Point Perk is a fantastic addition to Covington and the craft coffee scene of region. A brief walk from the hotel area and quick service, cute little coffee shop on the corner! Your usual offerings of morning beverages, and a very small bakery case with a few bagels left (but it is late - 9 am on a weekday). Employees are wearing masks/gloves and they've taped arrows on the floor explaining the traffic flow. I got their large cold brew and it's great! After a night of bourbon and Tikka Masala, you'll need Tums and a nice caffeinated pick me up. My wife and I had tried to come to this place one time before this one but it was closed. They pretty much give people with mental disabilities employment within the community and the money they make goes back into programs for those with disabilities. Ashley Banks from Fresh Prince.... well..... as a fifth for Jenna Von Oy aka Six LeMuere from the show Blossom. Anyway, they melt my heart and are full of personality. Anyway... I go in and I decide off the cuff that I want Hot Chocolate with a couple espresso shots. She knocks it out the park. My wife got a decaf coffee and the poor lady didn't even know what to do with that order. Mine was fantastically made and the lady was so nice. I love that little corner that it's on. Right by Braxton. I highly suggest you visit. It'll be worth your time. When you do visit, tell them that Z sent ya. I was disappointed that this was tagged as a place that isn't good to work as my primarily goal in mind when I go to a coffee shop is to try and get some studying done. However, I planned for that and decided to just stop by for some breakfast and coffee. Got an almond scone and caramel iced coffee after I was told they were out of bagged tea (which I thought was a little odd for 930 in the morning, but I'm flexible). The coffee was really good and the scone was fantastic. I didn't love the atmosphere to stay and hang out at, but as far as coming in and getting something quick, it's perfect. Well, out of all of the coffee shops my husband and I have visited (we hit up a new one every weekend) this one was a bit of a disappointment. If it wasn't for the mission of the establishment I would have given it one star. This was the second time my husband and I have attempted to try out this place. We loved the mission of helping those with disabilities and giving them employment opportunities. The first time we tried to go here it was closed, even though the hours listed online and on their Facebook page stated they were open??! Still not sure what was going on there. Anyways, we went on a Saturday morning (per our usual) and it wasn't too crowded. The place is located on a corner of Pike Street in Covington, there was enough street parking (although you have to pay the meter), and the shop wasn't super crowded so we walked right in. The atmosphere was tight, but did have some window/bar stool seating. It wasn't as cozy as I had hoped, and I think is more of a walk in-walk out spot. The most disappointing part- the coffee. My regular order is an almond milk latte. But because I'm pregnant I've been ordering it decaf. The lady working had no idea how to make a decaf latte, but said she just needed about 6 minutes to make it. No problem. After about 5 minutes she tells me she doesn't know how to work the latte machine needed to make my decaf latte. So instead she made me a "latte" with decaf brewed coffee. It tasted like steamed almond milk, barely a coffee taste, very watery, not the delicious creamy latte I was expecting. Kind of gross actually. And the worst part, she still charged me for it! 5+ dollars. It was such a waste of money. She did ask how it was, and admittedly I told her it was fine (I felt bad, she was a very nice lady!)... but she shouldn't have charged me for a latte when she didn't make me a latte. Overall, very disappointing and we won't be back. read more

My favorite coffee shop in Covington! I love their mission and purpose and the coffee is delicious. The staff are so friendly, quick, and helpful. They truly know many customers by name. I also love that this coffee shop offers Lil's Bagels, which are insanely delicious and popular. Heard about this place opening from a local and decided to check it out with a friend. It is nestled into the up-and-coming part of Covington, right on the corner. It is run by a woman who has a social work degree and a passion for coffee and decided to combine those two by opening a coffee shop with the mission to employ people with handicaps. First off, great setting, with windows all around to people watch. Next up, the coffee is great. They use Carabello beans from just across the river, and a full espresso bar offering from drip to chemex to espresso. I got a coffee on the V60 and was not disappointed. They have a great selection of baked goods if you want something to nosh on with your coffee. Only drawback is the limited hours, but they are working to expand their hours. Seriously good coffee, cool setting, awesome mission; go try Point Perk! read more

I'd take off 1 point for their hours (they close at noon) but I'm giving extra points to bring them to a true 5 star due to their mission of helping the community.
