Some people might miss this posting, which is unfortunate. Sat at a small table even though several larger ones were available and no one waiting. Walking in, you can tell this is a classic neighborhood café. There's nothing overly fancy about it--just a few tables, a small pastry case, and, of course, coffee. One thing that surprised me was the music choice. They were playing what sounded like punk rock, which felt a little out of place for the atmosphere of the café, especially since many of the customers appeared to be older adults. For my order, I went with a blueberry muffin and a cappuccino. The muffin was fresh and flavorful, and the cappuccino was well made. Overall, I was happy with both items. The reason I'm taking off a star is because the employee working during my visit used a lot of profanity while speaking. I understand that casual conversation happens, but I don't think that kind of language is appropriate in a café setting where customers are trying to relax and enjoy their coffee. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're looking for a quick grab-and-go coffee or pastry. There was also parking right in front, with no line, which was convenient. I wanted something fried, but when I saw that they use canola oil, I decided to go with the salmon tacos instead. Salmon isn't exactly a local fish, but it's usually a safe bet, especially when it's fresh frozen. I got the salmon tacos, which came as two tacos on two tortillas. The salmon was topped with a little cabbage and tomato, melted cheese, and what seemed to be some onion and cilantro. They also included a small serving of salsa. Overall, they were decent, but not the best salmon tacos I've had. One thing that was a little annoying was that some of the salmon had the dark "bloodline" still attached. I usually scrape that off because I find that part of the fish more bitter and strongly flavored. That's especially awkward with tacos because you're trying to remove it from pieces of fish that are already in the taco. I've had salmon tacos elsewhere where that part had been trimmed off, so there was nothing to deal with. No bones, though. The tacos were a little pricey at just over $20 with tax, but you're in a tourist area and it's California, so that wasn't exactly surprising. They made for a decent meal, and sitting outside was pleasant.

In anticipation of a unique dining experience, my family of five and I ventured into Morro Bay with high hopes--only to be met with disappointment. While Kickers welcomes patrons with a charming atmosphere, the experience regrettably falls flat beyond that initial impression. Our server seemed hurried despite the restaurant being far from full, and this hurriedness did not translate into efficiency. After a lengthy wait, we were served meals that were notably underwhelming in both presentation and taste. My children were particularly disheartened to find that even their simple requests appeared hastily prepared and lacked the expected flavor. It's evident that Kickers tends to prioritize quantity over quality, failing to refine their menu items to a higher standard. Considering the near $200 bill for our family's dinner, the lack of attention to culinary detail is particularly inexcusable. A venue with such a welcoming atmosphere should aim to provide a meal that matches its ambiance. I would strongly recommend seeking other dining options in Morro Bay. Additionally, it's worth noting that our experience at their sister restaurant, Blue Sky Bistro, left us similarly underwhelmed. Both venues have room for substantial improvement and until then, they're best avoided. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a fantastic restaurant where I was served by the delightful Cathie. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a cool vibe that made you feel like you were dining in a ship! Cathie greeted us with a genuine smile and provided exceptional service throughout our meal. She was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring that our glasses were always full and our needs were met. Her recommendations were spot on, reflecting her deep knowledge of the menu. Now, let's talk about the food! Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Whether it was the appetizers or the main course, every bite was a delightful experience. It was evident that the chefs take great pride in their creations, using fresh ingredients that truly elevated the dining experience. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, AMAZING MEAL! Our lobster roll and lobster bisque were plated brilliantly, and the taste/texture DIVINE. Furthermore, the prices were quite fair. We'll definitely be coming back. Even to only order the garlic Parmesan truffle fries! (Though I'm sure we won't stop there). I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc while we contemplated the menu. One couple of our party ordered pasta with shrimp or pasta with salmon. My husband got the grilled chipotle salmon, and a couple of us got the captain's plate which had a big assortment of fried coconut shrimp, calamari, and fish on a bed of fries. It's the most spectacular view on the coast and it is perfectly set up as a happy hour hors d'oeuvre bar. There's a long bar, many different sized tables and even an outdoor area with tables on the porch. The food might be kind of standard fair but it's well done and it's very generous portions. The bartenders very skilled at making drinks. The server even suggested a honeybee martini which sounded very tempting, but most of us stuck to wine. The servings are very generous. Several people in this group have a prodigious sweet tooth, so we perused the desert menu after the meal. One couple got the triple berry tart, while my husband and I split the cheesecake.
