Lots of meat, pork belly and angus beef was great combined. I had the Marisco (Seafood) pasta and it came with mussels, clams, scallops, and shrimp. Seafood was delicious, sauce was great. They asked me write a review after the experience, so here I am. We ordered the smoked salmon tacos, a burger, calamari Reuben, lobster Mac n cheese, and a dozen oysters. The oysters were fine. Mignonette was bland, there was tobacco and cocktail sauce. It wasn't great. The main plates came out. They were fine. The "smoked" salmon was liquid smoke marinated salmon. The calamari sando had discarded batter because the batter fell off the calamari steak. The fries for both the burger and calamari sando were cold. The concept of a calamari Reuben fell flat. Didn't even eat. Came in with a large group and they seemed like they didn't know what to do with us. Pushed two tables together and once we sat down one table was disconnected from its legs and fell on my children. Once we looked at the menu we realized it was not for us. Only a few appetizers. When we asked the waitress if that was all the starters they had, she suggested we order fish and chips to all share for an appetizer. It was ridiculous. Restaurant is incredibly dark so feels tiny and closed in. Menu is scant and overpriced. My boyfriend and I walked almost 3 miles exploring Morro Bay, beautiful little town! Tons of shops but not cluttered like fisherman warf in SF. Tons of restaurants as well, but for some reason I just had lobster rolls in mind! Nothing else sounded good but LOBSTER ROLLS!! We stopped by every restaurant and glanced at their menu...nothing!! Until we stumbled upon Kickers!!!!! Omg!!! The brioche bun was perfectly toasted. Tons of lobster!!! And a added bonus, you get two rolls for $28!!! I like to give businesses benefits of the doubt. I don't trust reviews unless I go in and try for myself. Kicker's was rated pretty high on Google reviews, but now I wish I checked on Yelp first. They do not deserve a 3/5 stars based on my experience. I had a dog with me. At first, the front lady said no pets, but then the waiter said yes, I can bring my puppy in. I came from out-of-town, so I have nowhere else to put my dog other than secretly in my car - and that's a no way. When seated, I asked for raw oysters. Their menu said it was market price, and I don't care how much it is. However, the waiter told me that all their oysters are sold out. Then go get some more, the menu says it's MP, so go to the supermarket and charge me the mark-up. In fact, more than half the menu, the waiter indicated that they were out. "We were really busy today." Now it's time to pay. I paid with credit card because I'm spending like $150+ worth of food. This restaurant charges a $4 surcharge for using your credit card... huh? What cheap restaurant does that? read more

I'm not sure why there are less than positive reviews on this restaurant. I came here one evening with my wife and daughter. We were traveling in the area and wanted somewhere that served good seafood on the waterfront. Kickers was the only place that accepts reservations so we went for it. From the get go the service was awesome. Jeff was our waiter and he was incredibly sweet, knowledgeable and patient with us as we tried to figure out what we wanted to eat. By chance they had a live father daughter duet playing live and they were absolutely awesome. They made our day! The food was also really good. My daughter had the fish and chips which were the best we've had in the area. I had the pasta Amatriciana which was absolutely delicious and full of shrimp and scallops. My wife had the shrimp tacos which were stuffed with sautéed (not fried) shrimp and she loved them. We are really happy we came upon this place. It made our stay in Morro Bay memorable. read more

We just went into Kickers for a late afternoon glass of wine and a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp cocktail is not ordinary; it is served in a huge goblet filled with a gazpacho type sauce containing celery, tomatoes, red onion, tons of pieces of lovely shrimp, topped with thinly sliced avocado. We've had it here before and return to enjoy it each time we are in town. Lovely booths along the water and wonderful service provided by Ryan. We came at 7:00 pm on a Wednesday so it wasn't that busy. Ambience was wonderful. Best view of the sunset. Roger was our server and he was amazing! Best costumer service always checking in and refilling our cups. Food was a 10/10. We ordered the Mexican cocktail, oyster shooters, and a dozen oysters. Dozen oysters was $39. So good and fresh! Love how they serve a variety of different oysters we can choose from. We ordered the mango lime and spicy tomatillo oyster shooters with alcohol. Amazing!! And I love that they serve it in big shot glasses and fill it to the brim. Mexican cocktail had so much seafood in it I was stuffed with just that. Then they give free kettle corn at the end. YUM!! We stopped here for dinner on a Monday night. It's a newish restaurant. The food was really delicious and oddly seafood in Morro Bay is a bit hit or miss. We ordered the crab stuffed sole, the baked parmesan scallops, their amazing bread - toasted garlic bread, the lobster mac and cheese and a lobster roll. Everything tasted great and was hot. The lobster roll was unusually large, since they are usually tiny, and the lobster was large and tasty chunks. Sole was super tasty and scallops were a treat. Their fries, served with the lobster roll, were also really good. I had a Lagunitas on tap and it was crisp and a generous pour. The service was not attentive and a bit slow, particularly given the fact that there were 5 tables with people and 3 waiters, but the great food made it worthwhile. The food, service, ambience, and harbor view were delightful. Our server (Zeke) was amazing: helpful, courteous, knowledgeable, personable, and attentive to our needs. And when he didn't feel he could fully answer a question about the bouillabase, he went and brought out the chef, who pleasantly explained in detail what it was and how it was prepared. We had a positive experience with every member of the restaurant staff with whom we had contact. And the food was delicious--and, though not inexpensive, very much worth the price paid. You can tell that "friends" have been signing up on Yelp to try and raise the "stars" because the reviews are so bad - It's so obvious. We stumbled upon Kickers while we were waiting for a table somewhere else and decided to stay. So happy we did for a few reasons. Our server was Bali and she was fantastic. Super accommodating, very knowledgeable of the menu, and quick to check in on us. The stand out dish was the lobster mac n cheese. There are a ton of options on the menu so we were all able to find something we loved. The view could not be beat. We sat at the window and watched the sea otters and seals play. Tried it foir the first time never to go back! Oysters were good, the salmon taco's were moist but had a strange (unidentifiable) flavored sauce; the fish and chips plate had excellent chips (why do Americans call them chips with fish but fries with a burger?) but the fish was less than the 6oz they promised and batter/breading was simply terrible ......any fish resurant that cannot cook good fish and chips cannot be called a fish restaurant in my view. The wine selection was better than average; we had to ask for cutlery and napkins but the zinger was the bill! No tip, 18%, 25% but no way to set your own!! Methinks the idea will now be to pay the bill with no tip by card and leave the tip I want as cash!! read more
