We've eaten at Khan's Grill for years weren't too happy a couple of times. Since than they opened one across the street from where they were on Nolana. I must say sooooo much better than in the past. This place is great! It's cheap (i think like 10 bucks all you can eat, but if you actually get up and get seconds, my hat goes off to you.) Yea, no. I normally like the concept of Mongolian grills but this one is not my thing. I don't know if it's my personal preference but I have never liked the idea of other people, not food service related, being able to access the same food I will eventually eat. Watching people sneeze on the food or drop the serving utensil on the floor before the next unassuming customer gets it makes my skin crawl. They do try and mitigate the sneezing or coughing on food with a plastic cover, but this is in no way going to stop the children that sneeze directly on the food, because their parents didn't teach them to cover their mouths. On the other hand my fiancé likes it, has the same concerns I do, but can overlook it more than I can. Also they have signs not to overfill the bowls provided, and that you will be charged if you do, my problem is how do they know? They don't have a scale to weigh it out and the cashier just picks up your styrofoam container and makes a good estimate wether to charge you more or not. I don't know, I did eat it, it wasn't terrible but I won't be returning, there are better places with better food for that price. Also, if my fiancé had not been here several times before I would not have been able to navigate this place. The waitress just asked for here or to go, when we said to go she just walked away. For first time visitors, it can be a bit of a challenge to figure out how to prepare your plate. The customer creates their plate with choosing the noodles, vegetables, meats, spices and oils. It takes a few visits to figure out your preference. Personally, I am not a big spicy hot sauces person, but do enjoy teriyaki sauce with my plate. Khan's Grill is down right good for it being the only Mongolian Restaraunt in town, at first i was a bit skeptical due to the fact that i've had Mongolian BBQ from well known establishments in bigger cities and yeah you can get it done at some of the Chinese buffett's around town but those buffett's from around town really don't compare to the way it's done at Khan's. The food is delicious but the service is awful. Arrived with my family before the dinner rush, there were 4 waitresses and about 2 other families there. I went to get my food first while my husband got the children and our stuff situated at a booth. One waitress took the drink order for the couple before me then skipped me and took the order of the people after me. When I texted my husband this,he asked another waitress for drinks and she blatantly told him no that our order was already taken. He had to get a third waitress to finally get our drink order and even then it took her almost 15mins to bring it to us bit yet other people arriving were getting their drinks right away. Every time I visit this place it has always been a great experience. Food has always tasted so good but today I must say that my wife and I were very upset due to the fact that the guy cooking our food was somewhat rude and careless. The reason I say this is because my wife is vegan and I am vegetarian and when we went up to the cook we specifically told him that we wanted our food cooked in the back. This is what we were told to say that way our food isn't cooked together in the same grill they use for meat eaters. Well obviously "JORGE" didn't care and still placed both our plates in the grill up front and we called him up to say that we had told him it was supposed to be cooked in back as we are veg.and vegan. Well he came back up to us and said,"well but you're not allergic to anything right?" We said no but these plates are veg.and vegan. Well we were very upset and just didn't say much anymore. Very Good! My go to place when I am feeling in the mood some stir-fry. I first went to the location in Harlingen around 2010 and never stopped coming. The make it yourself bar is filled with a wide range of noodles and veggies that suit all palates. From egg noodles to spiral pasta and pineapple to snow peas, they have a good selection, and it is always fresh, as I notice employees changing and refilling the veggies a couple times through out my visit there. As for the meat they have pork, chicken, beef, and tofu (I think) among others, I always go with the beef and it has never failed me. Try the chili garlic sauce if you like a little bit of heat (not too much), hoisin and sweet and sour are great too . Egg rolls are made to order fresh and not too oily, service is great, the waiters/ waitresses, are always coming by to check up on you, I always tip them for their excellent service. THE ONLY 'beef' I have with this place, and mind you it is very minor, is that on occasion the chefs will prepare your food on the grill top without scraping off the black particulate that forms after numerous orders, this may make your stir fry taste a little burnt if they don't scrape it off first. But this is no biggee simply just ask them to do so before they place your order on the grill and they are happy to oblige. But, overall a great place, check it out if you haven't already. read more

Oh Khans, how I miss you so. This is probably my favorite place in the whole world. It's a little weird telling people that, I guess because I imagine them eating there and wondering what I was so hyped up about...but I find it to be just so amazing. I first went to this location at the suggestion of my husband (boyfriend then) and his family. The concept of choosing your own ingredients and spices was little odd to me, but I've since zoned in on what works for me. I used to add in some of the pastas, but because I enjoy a lot of the vegetables I cut them out because they take up too much space. Usually, I opt for zucchini, broccoli, baby corn, mushrooms, carrots, pineapple, water chestnuts, chicken, pork, tofu, topped with peanuts, sesame seeds, and a lot of cayenne pepper and garlic powder. Now if that sounds like way too much, I assure you it is, I would sometimes get stares at my bowl. When you get to the area surrounding the grill you are given a number (it all depends on how busy it gets, which is often), and are given a choice of oils to cook the food in as well as a choice of sauces to top it all off. I get olive oil to cook with. For anyone new to this place, I would recommend the house blend of sauces: chili garlic sauce, teriyaki, and a Mongolian dragon sauce. I have no idea what that last sauce contains (it's a secret!), but rest assured, that combination is worth a try. You can specify how much chili garlic sauce you want, though they usually ask WHILE pouring the sauce on your food, so if you want it mild think fast! This includes a choice of white or fried rice and a roll. I prefer the fried rice because I like to add the peanuts from my meal into the rice. I haven't gone to many other Mongolian grills, but the ones I've tried just don't compare to me. The next time I'm back in Texas I will be here for sure! read more

Love Khans! Me and my husband always visit for date night and then hop across the street and catch a movie. The food is great, definitely plentiful! I always do seafood, plenty of veggies and the Mongolian Dragon sauce with garlic and Cajun spices. Love it! The servers are friendly, the cooks try to involve the customers by chatting and recommending sauces with certain spices. All in all great experience. (PS for kids, I suggest not getting their own plate, the serving will look small before it's cooked, but it magically looks like a mountain once it's cooked.) read more

Awsome food, great value for your buck!

I was first introduced to this restaurant by a friend of mine who tends to be quite discriminating in her taste. Khan's grill never disappoints. The ability to select your own combinations of greens, meats, and spices, ensures near full control of the finished product. This restaurant is indeed the very essence of "what you see/select is what you get". Unlike much of the mystery food when eating out, it is possible to get a reasonably healthy meal here. I often eschew the noodles, and instead replace them with bamboo shoots. There are plenty of sources of lean animal proteins available, and the tofu is quite plentiful as well. They have an excellent selection of spices too. I'd recommend the chili garlic sauce, as it contains no added sugar and is comprised mainly of chili peppers and garlic. The food is cooked in an expedient fashion. I've never been able to finish a meal here in one sitting, so I feel it is an excellent value as well when considering the amount of leftovers. Although, I have to admit that my bowl packing skills are exceptional lol. I've been to many different Mongolian restaurants in several states and the Valley's own version happens to be my favorite. Normally I do not give a five star review, but the combination of value, quantity, and consistent quality demands it. read more
