    The Victor sandwich

The Victor is perfect if you can't decide between brisket or sausage sandwich . It's got both. With a cold sweet tea and pecan pie with a scoop of ice cream. Yum!

Decent bar-b-que! I've had fantastic to dry and horrible bar-b-que here in Texas. Bar-B-Cutie is a good place to go for a good meal. Enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich and got some onions and a jalapeño with pickled carrots to compliment this sandwich and it made it even better. Bar-B-Cutie's has four sauces, there is picture, which remain on each table for anyone to add to his/her bar-b-que. I tried each and all are delish!!! Their coleslaw is sadly blah tasting and expensive. But being a true Yelper, I will return and try other bar-b-qued meats and other tasty looking meats and sides! They have plenty to keep me coming back! They had desserts options, but nothing looked inviting today. Next time because I enjoy my desserts! :) Good place to enjoy some local bar-b-que.

Pulled pork sandwich and onion rings

My son and I had a late lunch here today. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a side order of onion rings. My son got one of the featured sandwiches with brisket and cheese sausage. He also got a side order of fried okra. I really enjoyed the full pork sandwich. It was very tender and not greasy. I especially enjoyed the pulled pork with the Carolina barbecue sauce. They offered ranch dressing to go with onion rings. I tried it but did not care for that combination as much. I noticed they had a green salsa, and tried that with onion rings and really liked it. I was glad to see they added a Mexican style salsa. Sandwiches are served on wax paper in a basket. They have plastic forks, knives and spoons if you were eating something that needs that. They offer a family "gender neutral" bathroom as well as gender specific bathrooms in the back. They have a second dining room in the back which is decorated very nice. Overall I like this place and recommend it to others.

All the sauces tasted the same too

The food was super cold and portions are super small. Incredibly lack luster and the brisket was shit not coming back ever

Bar-B-Cutie has all the makings of a good BBQ spot but definitely fell short of my expectations. The ribs were very tender but honestly flavorless inside. I added a significant amount of salt and pepper from the table so it wasn't bland. The brisket was even worse. Yes tender, but the slices were a bit thick which leads me to believe they were overcooked. Totally tasteless. I am not a fan of BBQ spots that depend on sauce for flavor. Texas BBQ should just be salt and pepper!

Dishes: brisket sandwich, panchos Time of wait: no wait. You order before you sit down. Wait for food: 5 minutes Taste: the brisket was very moist, tender, juicy and delicious! It could have used a little more flavor though. The pachos consist of nachos, beans, cheese and your choice of meat. I chose brisket. This dish was perfect for my picky eating kids. They absolutely loved this! It can feed a family of 4 easily. Atmosphere: very clean restaurant and friendly staff. I like that there's sinks outside of the restrooms to wash your hands. Kid Friendly: Yes! There's a playground area for your little ones. Price: a little on the pricey side

This place may be called BBC but I'd give the food an A A A! I tried a quarter pound of the lean brisket (that's the smallest portion you can get) with sweet bbq sauce along with the coleslaw and mac n cheese and boy was it yummy! To be honest, the brisket was good on its own as well so feel free to skip the sauce. If you're looking for southern comfort food with great service, Bar-B-Cutie totally hits the spot!

I came here with my mother. It's a super modern looking place. Disclaimer: I'm by no means a bbq snob, and have only tried a handful of bbq places. This is what I imagine everyone assumes I eat daily, whenever I tell them I'm from Texas. Truth is, this area is unlike the rest of the state and there are just a handful of bbq restaurants around (especially compared to Mexican food places). Still, among those I have tried, this one has stacked up really well. My mom had their moist brisket and absolutely loved it. She wasn't very pleased with the taste of their Cowboy Stew though. I had their pulled pork sandwich, mashed potatoes with gravy, a bag of jalapeño chips, and a pecan chocolate brownie. It was all incredibly delicious. Their brownie was my absolute favorite. The top part was a thick layer of chocolate (I should probably mention that's probably why it's served cold). I only wished it was bigger, but considering it's loaded with sugar, the smaller portion is probably a good call. They had country music playing in the background the whole time and a football game on the tv. I'm not a country listener whatsoever, but I did appreciate the occasional Taylor Swift song.

Menu is alacarte so it gets pricey but the BBQ is good. They need to put together a plate meal for ribs and brisket.

Needless to say we ordered a 1/2 lb of both brisket & beef sausage, potato salad & brisket chili & 2 unsweetened iced teas. The brisket was closer to a slow cooker pot roast than smoked brisket. The potato salad I'm pretty was Reser's potato salad from the premade section at Walmart. The brisket chili had burger meat rather than pieces of brisket but it tasted ok. The beef sausage was the best part of the meal but it was just ok. The tea was terrible & tasted old. Our waitress was lacking in customer service granted she was working the bar with maybe 2 people in the area. Will we go back probably not.

It's the best I've eaten here in the RGV and coming in a close second to City Market in Luling, TX. It's that good! This visit I decided to try their Three Brisket Combo meal. It comes with three brisket tacos (corn or flour tortillas) loaded with brisket, a couple grilled jalapeño slices, grilled onions and some cilantro. They didn't need salsa but a squeeze of lime might've been helpful. The side I chose was their house made coleslaw which was pretty tasty. I ordered their green beans with onion and bacon but a few minutes after ordering a fellow came out to tell me they were out of the beans so I settled for the slaw. I also ordered an order of their house cut, tallow fried french fries. Man, were they GOOD! As in THE BEST FRIES I'VE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE GOOD!!! They are worth the visit all by themselves. The combo meal comes with a bottomless drink as well. The wife and I split the Combo meal, added the fries and a small side of potato salad that she wanted. We each ate one taco and about half of the sides. So we had a leftover taco, some fries and half our sides for the next day. All for like $21. The combo meal is $13.99 which is a pretty good deal in itself. The fries were like $6 and well worth the price. We will definitely be back. I would also highly recommend their 50/50 Rice and Beans topped with Brisket Bowl. That provided two meals for me when I ordered it previously. You can't go wrong at this little joint.

I've asked the question before, but it bears repeating: "Is it even possible to get 'bad' barbecue…read morein the state of Texas?" Every time I'm back in the Lone Star state, I need to get my fix of 'cue since there is some essence that gets lost when the art of "slow and low smoking" of meats leaves the Southwest and migrates East and North of the Mississippi River. And for sure, it's difficult if not damn near impossible to find decent barbecue in the DC area. For an establishment that has been in business for over 15 years (since 2009), 492 BBQ has a criminally low review count. So allow me to add my ringing endorsement for some of the best 'cue you can find in the Rio Grande Valley. 492 is a not a fancy restaurant with tile flooring and multiple dining areas which have various seating configurations. But the place is clean and well lit, which is always appreciated. I was warmly greeted by the hostess and shown to a table, where my friendly server Christina suggested the three meat platter. Any good TX 'cue joint is judged on by one cut of meat and that is of course, brisket. The brisket at 492 is superior! There is a thick bark resulting from hours of slow cooking over mesquite wood coals. And you won't need any of the slightly sweet sauce on the table, since any good brisket can stand on it's own with just salt, pepper, and smoke. The ribs were also tasty, although I slightly preferred the pork vs. the beef short rib cut. Both the pork and beef ribs were "fall of the bone" tender, but perhaps I just like the texture and taste from the fattier pork. Both versions were still darn good. Sides were delicious...of course. The Mac and cheese was made in-house and from scratch ingredients. It was creamy, well seasoned, and didn't have that artificial taste or weird fluorescent color from box mixes. I'm glad I went with Christina's recommendation and tried the rice/beans combo. I've not sampled something like this, but the slow cooked pinto beans were added atop fluffy rice to make an almost "stew like" dish with pieces of meat mixed in. Really good! Service was attentive throughout the meal with water glasses being filled when empty, and take home boxes offered since there was waay too much food to be consumed at one sitting. My 3 meat sampler, with just water and no dessert, came to about $28 with tax and tip. A bargain really since I had the other half of the meal for lunch the next day.

The beans had a ranch style flavoring with added pieces of their sausage which paired well with each other. The Mac looked a little plain but the taste was excellent, very cheesy! We chose the brisket, beef sausage, and beef rib as our meat choices. The brisket was seasoned perfectly and was not overly smoked. It was also super tender and passed the pull test. The sausage had a really good flavor, but we found the casing to be a little tough. It was a challenge to cut the sausage with a plastic butter knife and a little chewy at times. The beef rib was tender and moist. Sometimes it can be a challenge to get a beef rib right but these guys nailed it. Absolutely NO sauce was needed for anything!!! The cherry on top was the staff.
