Since i'd never snowboarded before, and downhill skied once (it went badly enough to hurt twenty-year-old knees, thirteen years ago), i might have been a bit reckless in saying yes to the company ski trip out to Keystone. Having not been able to handle little Wachusett Mt. back home, why on earth would i be looking to careen down steep western peaks on a contraption i was even less familiar with? Nevertheless, i showed up on a Friday afternoon and gave it a go. The gondola operators offered me some advice on where to find easy trails, which ironically meant going further up. i tried these easy trails and fell down hard an astonishing number of times. i don't hold this against them; after all, i'm the fool. This cemented the need to sign up for a lesson, though. These are not cheap, but they are very thorough and very attentive. They last the majority of the day, and take the time to figure out where you are, how quickly you're picking things up, and how long to let you practice one thing before layering on another. At the end of the day, i went down that same trail that nearly killed me the day before and only fell a couple times. One might even say i enjoyed it. The bus service around the resort is pretty helpful, although the free parking wasn't a big walk either. Getting around is pretty easy. The stores and food at the bottom of the hill were not unreasonable. At the top, they are unreasonable. That's probably pretty standard, though. My company paid for the lift ticket so i can't comment on what kind of value it was. It's a very clean, state-of-the-art (yet rustic-y-looking, obviously) facility with a huge spread of trails in a scenic locale. Once i recover from this trip, sure i'd go again, if i was in the neighborhood. Even if i had to pay. read more

Went here for opening weekend. Not many trails open, but they were in good shape until around 2 which is to be expected with the crowds, etc. The River Walk village appeared to have everything you'd ever want to eat, drink and/or buy although we didn't take advantage of it. Would go back during peak season. read more

Enjoyed our 5 day ski vacation March 2017. Wide open runs with plenty of room for all skiers and boarders. The lift operators were ok, not as friendly as at other resorts. We ski blue runs and enjoyed the lift rides. The gondola line was short and the gondola ride was very enjoyable. We ate at the restaurant at the top of the first gondola only once for lunch as the prices were outrageous for average food, but this is typical when skiing in Colorado. The dining area had ample space and really liked that the staff cleared tables to allow room for everyone to have a place to eat or relax. Will definitely return again next year to ski. read more

After moving from the East Coast, we absolutely love this mountain. It's nice because it is a little bit smaller and more like what we are used to back East. The size of the mountain makes it easy to learn your way around fairly efficiently. The conditions have always been wonderful and the variety of trails is a great fit for us. It's easy to park (for free!) and a quick trip to the top. The food isn't bad and the prices are what you would expect for the mountains. I know some don't like the lack of expert trails, however, as a former racer, I continue to be engaged and have fun. read more

great place for boarder. Plenty of run and i like how accessible the gondolas are. I prefer the green a lot, especially the Schoolmarm -- long and gentle without any catwalks, it helped to take my time to perfect my skill. The village is great too. Variety of shops to choose from rather than eating the unhealthy bar food. read more

To be fair, I will say I've been spoiled as I've had the fortunate pleasure of skiing at 11 of Colorado's resorts. My rating of Keystone reflects this and is compared to my experiences at the others; I've skied here 10 times over the years. The resort is easy to get to from Colorado Springs with a 2.5 to 3 hour drive (one-way) on a route NOT along I-70, allowing us to avoid crazy weekend traffic on the way home. Love the fact there is a good amount of FREE parking, including close spots for those carpooling with 4 or more. Most of the ski runs are long and allow for everyone of all abilities to be entertained. It's not too bad to get around, especially if you're at least a Blue level skier, and I've found fewer catwalks than at some of the other resorts. We haven't taken advantage of the snowcat rides to access the back bowls, but they sure do look fun! On weekends, the lift lines are very crowded. Our most recent visit had us wait 13 minutes (we timed it) at the Santiago Express before it was finally our turn. To fully appreciate the resort, playing hooky on a weekday has been the best bet. One of the major disappointments of Keystone is they seem to have a liberal interpretation of the types of conditions that allow a run to be open, which, IMO, can be pretty terrible. For example, we entertained the idea of skiing down the Black-rated Geronimo run last weekend; we've done it several times in past years. However, upon riding up Santiago Express, we were in disbelief to see all the rocks, branches, and dirt poking up, and I winced every time a skier or snowboarder scraped their equipment over these obstacles as they tried to find a decent way down. But it wasn't just Geronimo - the Diamond Back run beneath the Wayback Lift was also open, but its conditions were equally awful. The village is fun, and they do have fun stuff going on during the regular ski season. I've stayed in or near the village on at least 3 occasions and enjoyed it. read more

Keystone used to be one of my favorite resorts. But I have to say it has progressively gone downhill every year over the last 4-5 years. Crowds are insane ... parking is impossible ... food is grossly overpriced for quality. And employees are rude. Super sad to see such a fun little area turn into Vail's step child. read more

Solid resort - tons of blues and blacks that will challenge anyone. I've heard it isn't good for beginners but my buddy Josh and I had a blast. It was a bit cold - a snow covered mountain, I know - so the lifts opened late one day. They have food and drinks at both the top and bottom of the mountain but the bowls are a bit of a pain to get to. I've never had to walk to get to a bowl (you can take the cat-track thing for $5) before but there is a first time for everything. Outside of the skiing, there isn't much to the town. A ton of condos and a few restaurants but aside from that it is sparse. Really enjoyed a cafe/sports bar there by the main road. I would definitely come back. read more

Hands down, one of my favorite mountains in Colorado for Snowboarding! The back bowls on a powder day can be an epic ride. The trees are always challenging & the village has great food/drink/shops. During the holidays this place turns into a Christmas winter wonderland... absolutely heart warming & gorgeous. Parking is decent, best in the main lot. Easy drive from Denver.. on a lucky day I can get up & back in 1 hour flat each way. I love the diverse wide runs & ski town charm. 7 miles from Abasin. If you haven't been to keystone I would say you have to give it a shot. The Gondolas are comfy on a POW day! read more

I love keystone! I think it's my favorite mountain on the local pass. They are amazing. I lost my brand new glove and they found it for me after the lift closed! They have good runs. I love the backside of the mountain too. Keystone has a great little village that's fun to meet people. And there's night skiing!!! read more

We wish we could have partaken in a tubing/skiing activity we paid for ($150.00 down the drain). Our annual couples vacation was looking forward to seeing some snow. Unlike Las Vegas, NV, we don't get to see and partake in winter sports activities. Unfortunately, we rented a cabin in New Castle, which is a 2.5-hour drive from Keystone Resort. Due to the inclement weather the night before, we woke up to five accidents due to black ice and falling rocks; therefore, the police department closed the highways in both directions. When we called the resort to see if there was a later time, they said no; they were sold out for the remainder of the day. The guy who answered the phone told me that he didn't see any highway closures on his end as if I wasn't telling the truth. After the back and forth, he then advised us we could come back the following day. Our flight left the next morning, and therefore we couldn't make it. When we asked for a refund, they told us, sorry, no refund, that's our policy. I guess when you live in a service industry town, you expect good service everywhere. We missed out on a skiing excursion and bought a ton of useless equipment that can not be used in Las Vegas, NV. The rule of thumb never buy online; purchase at the venue. read more

I snowboarded and snow biked here. With fresh snow, snowboarding was obviously fun but snow bike was amazing! As a first timer, I had to sign up for a snow bike session with an instructor and it was so much fun. My instructor was Peter and he was very encouraging and an excellent instructor. I definitely want to return here next winter. read more

Traveled 23 hours by car to be disappointed. First, it was awesome. Great trails and nice fellow-skiers. Second, we asked a worker by the bridge near the Gondola who was putting up benches and ski racks how to get back up the mountain at 3:50pm. He rudely said "uh, with your two d#mn legs. We are closed." We were in shock with how he reacted to such a harmless question. Mainly in part we were told by another worker by the lift that they were doing night skiing until 8:00pm. On top of all of this, we spent close to $200 a person for 1.5 hour trip that we believed to be a trip of our life time to check skiing in Colorado off our bucket list. We were so excited, yet it was destroyed in the matter of two warm up rides down the mountain. I'm not the type of person who leaves negative Yelp reviews but myself and my friends only had today to knock this off our bucket list, and yet checked off, it was a terrible way to end such a fantastic time I had leading up to the bearded, long-red haired man treating us like we were stupid. Just like Keystone beer, Keystone resort left a terrible taste in my mouth. read more

Hidden River Lodge is a terrible place. Long walk to lifts. Oh yeah and they closed the hot tubs due to COVID. They were closed at first then they were open for a few months and now that they know they are too lazy to maintain it they close it and say COVID. That is BS there are more vaccinations now more than ever. You open it up. Lazy. Inconsiderate. Terrible joint. Everyone knows you hot tub after you ski read more

As a California bay area native, Keystone was a-mazing balls! Came on a Tuesday while visiting the area, and my oh my the slopes were wide open, long runs, and best of all empty! Okay, there were people there, but seriously, what an awesome feeling it is to turn a corner onto a slope, turn back to make sure you're not in someone's way, and there's no one there! I'm sure it's busier on weekends, but it was wonderful. Furthermore, the village area was so cute. Lots of shops, fun stops for kids to take pictures or play, and ice sculptures around. I wish they had a place like this in Tahoe...... read more

Keystone is likely the main hotel for visitors to the area. I was not impressed at all during check-in. I had to check-in at a "gate" which then provided me with my key. I wish the check-out was at the Lodge itself and not some stopping point. It added more than 45 minutes to my overall check-in experience. This issue was connected with instructions provided by the hotel to the Mountain Service shuttle transport from the airport. Something really is wrong with this. Nevertheless, the rooms were rustic with a large main floor and a loft-style bedroom. If you are not used to the altitude, walking up and down the stairs to the bathroom may be an annoyance very quickly. The finishings were dated, but the bed was fairly comfortable. The sheets were soft and perhaps of a high thread count. The pillows were not comfortable at all and may require some updating. The bathroom was on the smaller size and the shower lacked pressure. Towels were a bit too small and not that soft. The TV was of the right size, but channel selection seemed a bit scant. Complimentary Wifi was very strong and greatly appreciated. The Lodge front desk was mixed. Their activity recommendations were of generally poor quality, however the opportunity to use the Lodge shuttle is very valuable and worth noting. Being picked up by this shuttle/bus saved a lot of time and effort. The driver was always friendly and that helped out a lot. I think it is the place to stay in Keystone, but they really need to reflect on a few matters of concern to bring up the rating scale. Good luck in Keystone!!! read more

Keystone is a great resort for both skiing and snowboarding. My favorite thing about this mountain is that it is easy to ski a lot of vertical feet. With the river run gondola you can ski a lot of steeps in not very much time (you can also take the river run lift if the gondola lines are too long!). Another great aspect of Keystone is the keystone village. Parking is free and nearby, which is huge. Also, there are a lot of inexpensive places to eat/grab a drink in the area. Not the most technical terrain in CO, but a solid destination for a day on the slopes! read more

I've skied for over 50 years in Colorado and there's no doubt the skiing in Keystone is the best that's close enough to Denver for a Day Ski. Great food, great slopes. Simply the best. read more

Coming from NY, this mountain (Mountain House) impressed me - what that says, I don't know! Three of us took a private lesson with Nelson. He did a great job working with 3 individuals at very different ability levels. He got all three of us to improve in our skiing abilities and was very personable and nice. We stayed on the bunny/beginner slopes, but were able to learn stopping, parallel skiing and pizza turns among other things. Private lessons are costly but the individual attention is well worth it. If you extend from a half day to a full day, you save a lot of money and get great lessons. The food at the slopes is overpriced as is to be expected, but you can bring own lunch. They have lockers or bucket rentals for your stuff. It is very expensive to rent equipment on site. However, we rented from a third party and had a terrible experience so sometimes paying more is worth it. Lift tickets are insanely expensive but seem to be on par with other big resorts in CO. Workers are very nice and helpful read more

Do not do their keystone adventure winter activities. Probably the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. We booked a sleigh ride and they told us to just put keystone adventure in gps. It sent us the wrong place and the group left 10 minutes early without us. They refused to refund or reschedule. Horrendous experience. read more

Spent four days skiing at Keystone after Thanksgiving. Not many runs were open, but there was a decent amount of variety. The oddest part of the resort is parking in the River Run lot. The attendants have you park haphazardly so you end up walking past rows of empty spaces on the way to the lifts. read more

I come to keystone every weekend! I am a local so it's pretty easy to come for the day, this weekend however I decided to stay the night and relax for a night ! The room was honestly really nice, and not what I expected. It was clean and spacious and the balcony was facing the slopes! My only complaint is that the check in process was awful! I booked through hotels.com, and they sent me instructions on how to check in, I called the numbed they provided and it said this number was no longer being answered because of Covid 19 staff cuts , so now what? I went to the address and it was the gateway however no front desk? Or any signs? There was another guy who was just as lost as I was, I then tried to call keystone resorts and had to wait 45 minutes to talk to someone who then told me I had to go to the conference center, after all that I finally get checked in and I go to the building however after arriving here I realized they never told me my room number, so I'm like you've got to be kidding me! Another 30 minutes to get my room number when it should have been given to me at check in ! read more

FAMILY REVIEW WITH LITTLE KIDS: Came here with our 6 and 3 year olds for our first family ski trip. Besides nearly dying on the cost of ski school, plus rentals, plus lift tickets for one day, overall this is a very family friendly place. Fireworks show at night. Different kid activities. We did ski on day and then headed over to tubing at Frisco Adventure Park. Kids loved the ski school but warning parents that they don't let your kids shed clothes. The sun came out and our kids were miserably hot. read more

We booked our room and traportion though Keystone and our flight was delayed and my sister and myself had both asked if the flight was delayed would that be a problem and they assured us it wouldn't be that they watched our flights times and would accommodate us accordingly and our flight was delayed and after they charged us a $175.00 per person ( non-refundable) there is 6 of us and we were going to be an hour late that we would have to get the morning shuttle and we will miss our tubing that is also non-refundable. I'm very disappointed and would not recommend them to anyone. Shame on you I didn't want to give them the 1 star they don't deserve any. read more

Family and I decided to visit keys stone for a few days to finish off our vacation. We pre purchased our lift tickets and rentals a few days before so we could enjoy night skiing sunday the 1st and 2 full days before we left colorado. When we went to pick up the lift tickets the ticket office claimed they had no record of the purchase. Went to the rental for our gear and they DID have our updated reservations. Decided to go back to our room and call the reservation desk. The first guy that answered AFTER being on hold for over 40mins Jack (he was wonderful BTW we like Jack) was able to see that we were charged for tickets and rentals but they werent coming up because of some computer issue with 72 hrs windows unfortunately he couldn't do much as most of the stuff was closed and 5pm on a sunday. Now weve been on hold in our room this morning trying to get it sorted. We were told by an answering machine to leave an EMAIL? we have missed night skiing and missing the fresh snow this morning. Unacceptable, will not be returning. This morning we've been hung up on multiple times and still nobody can help us. read more

I literally witnessed the sweetest act of kindness while I was here. My friends and I stayed for the past three days. I was taking lessons and we decided to take a quick break at Summit House. While sitting outside of the restrooms I saw a cute little boy trip down a couple of the stairs. :(. He started crying and immediately one of the ski instructors ran over to him, picked him up in a cradling type fashion off of the stairs, and began to console him. He rocked the little boy slightly and told him "just cry it out as long as you want buddy, it's ok." Then after the little boy stopped crying he helped him sit down and asked where he was hurting and then how bad it was on a 1-10 scale. The little boy replied a 3 or 4. He then uncovered the little boy's shin and showed him his scrape and asked him if he feels better, to which the little boy replied that he did. It was such and sweet act of kindness and genuine sincerity that it restores my faith in humanity. Thank you for having people like these! This man deserves recognition. I don't know who he is, but he was wonderful with this little boy. read more

I was visiting keystone Resort with my family from North Carolina during Veterans day weekend. I am a veteran and still currently serve and I was going to take my son for a ride on the gondola being that we are from North Carolina he has never seen or been on a gondola so I thought it would be a good way to spend a Veterans Day. Until I realized there was no discount for veterans on Veterans Day. Being that the resort was not at full capacity I feel that veterans could sit back and relax and enjoy a ride with out impending the ski traffic. I was super pleased with the ski school for 4-5 year olds. My daughters went for 3 days and loved it. Its a great full day program 9-3:30pm, they also provide lunch and ski rentals (helmet included) I took a star off because my kids were sad not to see or meet "Riparoo the ski dog mascot" his photos are all over the website and ski school. The kids kinda expected him to be there. When I asked when he makes his appearance, they said "Only on saturdays" that was very disappointing because their lessons were Mon-Wed. I believe they should change this and have him come out to say hello to the students at least every other day. The Staff was nice and my kids look forward to the next time they hit the slopes! I don't think I can ever forgive Keystone/Vail Resorts/Epic Pass for what they have done. Shorting after accepting my season pass payment of $600, they immediately blacklisted it at every ski area pending a mt safety course that is only offered twice a week in Keystone. Um I'm not a local. Anyways, I ride the trees a lot and last year I encountered an impassable section so I exited the trees the only downhill route I could. I then unknowingly ended up on a closed run, a ski patrol waved at me so I volunteered to go talk to him. He was on foot. Despite my apologetic manner, He immediately placed a warning on my season pass. I still apologized profusely and agreed to avoid the run. However my first trip this season is now ruined on that FIRST warning EVER. Congratulations Keystone/Vail Resorts for really cracking down on a first time unknowing offender, who was once a huge fan, after they had six years of riding without a single violation. Now I waste all my time and money I spent to come here as I sit at the lodge waiting for a safety course. On top this, they have removed the ability for my family and friends to use my discounted buddy lift tickets. So my family and friends get to suffer needlessly as well, instead a $90 pass they have to pay the absurd window rate of $171. read more
