One of our favorite places to visit is Keystone Resort. The activities are abundant; the scenery and views are incredible! The village has nice shops and places to grab a bite to eat.
The Springs is probably the most popular lodge at River Run, due to it's closeness to ski lifts and village. Its pool is quickly becoming known for "partying," loud screaming (especially on weekends).
Units are decent. They are all privately owned. Keep in mind, you will not get the same standards of upkeep as a hotel. Some are rented via the Resort, while some are rented by Property Management Co's. We have stayed in 5 different ones. They are all pretty similar. Some are due for updates (stained carpet, torn upholstery, clogged drains, broken appliances, etc).
We have stayed here at The Springs for 2 weeks each, over 9 consecutive summers. The scene has definitely changed from Family Friendly to Family Party.
During our 2-week stay in mid-July, the sheriff was called out because a party of people was so obnoxious, breaking just about every posted rule. Guest services will not deal with it; they would rather keep the large paying groups happy than the small families. People on their balconies were in shock watching the action.
Lots of reunions, with lots of people. It is not unheard of to have the pool completely taken over by a "family," some of whom stay at RedHawk across the way and come over to the Springs pool. That means....if you are a small family with 2 - 3 kids, you will be shut out. Sorry. That's the way it is. We rode up the elevator with a family who turned right around because the pool was too wild. As a matter of fact, the same nice family told us the large aforementioned party hogged the pool and said "put down that chair. It's ours." Side note, the pool is way too small for the amount of rooms. It was not meant to be a party pool, but that is what it is turning out to be.
The noise from the pool is absolutely incredibly loud on summer weekends. Very loud! Don't expect peace and quiet on rooms facing pool. We are frequent travelers, so we are pretty confident at judging this. It is so loud, that if you have a pool side room, you will hear loud noise....close the windows and roast (in the summer), and it's a little better. The noise comes in over the TV. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights seem to be quiet. The staff does go a good job of closing the pool down at 10.
Guest services really can't help you, unless you rent directly from the Resort. I see their point; but, seeing that we are renters, we should enjoy the same qualities that owners get.
Underground parking is limited. Each unit has only one spot. That means if you have 3 couples, 3 cars, you get one space. The dirt lot is available.
While we love Colorado, we will love ok at other places besides the Springs.
We tend to want to experience a vacation in the mountains. There are other places better suited for the party lifestyle (Vegas for example). read more
