I drove out to Captiva to watch the subset.. Key Lime Bistro was one of the few places open to grab take out... what a surprise amazing meal. I got the Voo doo chicken over pasta and it had the best, home cooked flavor! I would go back just for that! I am a key lime pie expert, in life, in general. Last week, I became a key lime pie expert of this island. This is THE FAR and away CLEAR WINNER of all of the key lime pie on Captiva Island and everywhere. Don't pass it up -- it's too good to miss! Other food was pretty good but much like the other places on the island. Friendly staff, outdoor entertainment. Big menu w/lots of options. Very loud. Good place to take the little ones. Cute beach restaurant with live music and friendly staff. We had the muscles for an appetizer that was served with hot fresh rolls in a tomato sauce;it was really good. We went out on a limb and tried the crab cake dinner that was baked. Having come from Maryland, we are very picky about our crabs, but surprisingly they did very well for Florida. The truly amazing part of the meal was the key lime pie...my-o-my!!! They have earned the name of their restaurant. Will definitely return when on Captiva Island again. read more

The food and service here are great!!! On our weekend vacation we stopped here twice. The first night for drinks, the rum runner was excellent and we had their crab cakes which were delicious chunky crab. We had an excellent dinner here on a whim the other night. I dragged my husband to The Mucky Duck initially since he had never been, but the shortness of the staff, filth of the interior, and absolute chaos of families and kids running around was a huge turn off. We were sitting on the beach starting to watch the sunset and prepared to wait 2 hours for a table when I called Keylime Bistro to see if they had a table available. The host who answered said yes, they had one available right away. I said we were waiting for the sunset and then we would be down. He said, you and everyone else. That got us to scoot on down the street and we are so glad we did! Keylime Bistro was able to seat us immediately. The interior is adorable and beachy, and with all the doors open an inside table feels like you are outside. I ordered blackened red snapper and they allowed me to sub mashed potatoes for the rice. My husband ordered a special which was a grouper stuffed with lobster. Both of our meals were delicious and service was excellent. My husband says that this is now his favorite restaurant on the island. We were too full to try the keylime cheesecake but I have heard it is excellent, so I'll make sure I get it on our next trip down. read more

We were here for the first time 2 years ago on vacation and it was so good...I had the seafood bistro then and ordered the same thing today. It's so delicious, and even though it's served warm and you might sweat on an 80+ degree day, it's so worth it. The flavor is great, perfect amount of garlic, butter and lime. It has a variety of seafood such as shrimp, calamari, scallops, mussels, and clams. The broth is so good, use the rolls that come with to soak it up and enjoy! My wife got huevos rancheros and was not impressed. It was just scrambled eggs with melted cheese on top of a few crunchy corn chips. I tried it and thought the flavor was okay, but it just wasn't what the wifey had in mind. The other memorable dish from last time was the key lime pie. Expensive at $8 a slice so we plan on buying a whole pie for $32, which is still a lot, but that way we can bring it to the house and share the yum with family and friends. read more

Key Lime Bistro is one of the best spots to visit in Captiva. The staff is always friendly. The food is good, they have a full bar and an extensive list of margaritas. Service: poor attitude from the staff, but I do think partially due to the fact they were short staffed. Food: We had BREAKFAST. They had great variety and options for everyone. The eggs are real (no carton eggs). My mother in law ordered two eggs over easy which were well done and we had to send them back; however, we did not have to wait long for the corrected order. I have mixed feelings about this place. We dined her 3 times during our trip to Captiva this summer - once for lunch, once for dinner, and once for dessert. The Good - The Key Lime Pie really was fantastic. I highly recommend this. - The crab cake sandwich was delicious. - The stuffed grouper was amazing. - Live music is great. The Bad - The coconut shrimp was average at best (with a hefty price tag of $36)! - The lunch menu is very basic and expensive; go for dinner!! The Ugly - The flies in this restaurant are gross. While visiting Captiva island we decided to stop and grab a bite at the key lime bistro. We parked in the parking area in the back which was a bit crowded; however, this is expected due to it being on a small island and sharing the space with the neighboring hotel. Walking over to te front entrance you could see the entrance area to the back of the kitchen, which was definitely not a pretty sight. We did not want to judge a book by its cover so we went in anyways. There was live music which was nice . The menu is decent. They have a couple good choices, but most are for dinner. If you're hoping to get a good lunch meal, I would go across the street. Regardless of this we found a couple good choices and stayed. My main issue with this place was the service. I would understand if the place is busy, but it was not. Our waitress had this attitude of "I would rather be doing anything else in the world than being here". We called her a couple times and she bluntly ignored us. Another waitress came over and helped us which was very nice of her. The food was okay. I mean it was not stellar, the friend calamari was greasy and the tortilla chips tasted old and bland. The only thing worthwhile was the key lime pie, which tasted pretty great! The host has a good sense of humor and the waitress was really attentive and professional. It's also nice to have live music and the outdoor seating is pleasant. That said, the food was not good, IMHO. It reminded me of something you'd get at like a Holiday Inn conference room meeting. Chicken nachos were terrible -- cubed chicken piled on some low-quality chips with shredded cheese and then some guacamole, bland salsa, and sour cream on the side in cups. The bruschetta sounded really appealing, but the "goat cheese" was melted and, despite all the ingredients listed, they were really bland. For my entree, I had the stuffed grouper and the fish was bland -- the rice and vegetables poorly cooked. We also had the key lime pie, which was presented quite nicely, but not my favorite in the area -- it was not particularly tart. This place has 4.5 stars on Google, so I was a bit surprised by the quality of the food. Poor value for money, IMHO. read more

We never got a straw even after we asked for them. We finally had our order taken. The food came out mostly correct except one order. The food was all wrong so we sent it back. After waiting about 12 minutes for it we finally just had them remove it from the bill and forget about it. My favorite breakfast spot by far during our four day stay (we also went to OC Otter and Over Easy Cafe). Super friendly staff, great coffee and a really wide variety of breakfast options. I felt that of the three different places we ate at, this was the only that offered healthier breakfast options.
