I waited in the customer area and went to the front a couple of times. The service staff were joking and using profane language in an area that should have been all about customer service. After the update the NAV system no longer worked. A few weeks later I brought the car back in to get this fixed. They said that I needed to change my whole panel to get this fixed and that I was lucky to have an extended warranty. I declined this and today downloaded software and fixed my NAV system. I will never use this dealership again.

In other words,…read moreI'll be listening to my music via my iPhone with the bluetooth connection and it switches spontaneously to the AUX input and then switches to the Sirius/XM tab, which I don't subscribe to so it's one big long infomercial on why I should have a Sirius/XM subscription. So I go online and download the most recent software update to a flash drive and use the instructions to install the update in my car. Voila! Success! But this doesn't fix the problem. I call uConnect and they do a bit of trouble shooting and the problem still persists. I'm told I have to bring it to the dealership which is where this business comes in. I make an appointment specifically telling them this problem on a Friday so they say they can look at it Monday, so far so good. I drop it off Sunday night and specifically write my problem on those night drop envelopes telling them why the vehicle is here and what the problem(s) is (are). I get told while at work today that the car is ready. So my wife picks it up. Dropped 541 dollars because I needed the oil changed and the rear defroster re-glued. But the invoice says they charged 199.95 as 'labor' for assessing the uConnect issue. The invoice says that uConnect went to 4G service and that my 'version' is 3G. It also said I'm to call uConnect and they're supposed to send 'hardware' to reconnect. So I follow this advice and the gentleman at uConnect says that 'wouldn't have anything to do with what your telling me' and puts me through to the same number that told me I had to bring it to the dealer the first time. So I oblige this person and follow their advice which, big surprise, doesn't work and she tells me to bring it back to the dealer. Now I call this dealership back and tell them that uConnect did not agree with anything that they recommended. I also confirmed that they charged me nearly 200 dollars essentially to do....what? Labor? I wish I could make 200 dollars for making a phone call. I almost wouldn't care if the information was valid but as stated above, uConnect told me that's not the issue. So now I'm out 200 dollars and getting the royal run around if it wasn't obvious from my description above. To make matters even worse, the service guy on the phone started to say that they didn't really know what the problem with the radio was, even though I took great pains to write out the problem on the back of the drop box envelope. I think everyone is familiar with those envelopes? They ask for everything including next of kin? I guess, they just grab the keys out and throw all that vital information in the trash. Because again, it's not like the customer used it to communicate critical information about the vehicle's problems to you. And then of course above all, the veiled attitude that how dare I question their labor charge when they did absolutely nothing for that 200 dollars except make one phone call. As a 'conciliatory' offering, he tells me to bring the vehicle back and he'll 'take another look at it and won't charge me'. Gee, thanks, I really appreciate that. Because I have all the time in the world to bring it back to them to have another look at the problem they didn't address the first time they had it. I won't even mention that they didn't bother to top off my tire pressure even though I put that on the drop envelope too...oops, I guess I just did. Next time, just tell me to bring it to someone else who cares about the quality of work they deliver for the price they charge. It will save me a lot of time and aggravation.

I went to Rochester Volkswagen because, the day after my NH state inspection at a different shop, my check engine light came on (I know...right?) I brought it in for diagnostic and it was determined that cylinder 3 was misfiring due to a leak. They were very transparent about what needed to be ordered and what was potentially necessary. The part was ordered and after an additional appointment for installation, my car was back to working properly. It turned out that it didn't need anything additional. Was this all expensive? Of course. But the point I'm making is they didn't do anything else that wasn't necessary. They didn't lie about the car needing additional work from leak damage. I've learned my lesson. Even if the other shop is innocent, and they likely are, I will not be going back there. It is hard to trust. I will not name drop because I cannot say anything with certainty.

We…read moreinitially had a good experience with our sales guy Dave and purchased a 4 year old Hyundai Tucson at the going rate was for that make and model and mileage. We live in Maine and bought the car on our way down to an event in Boston, so it worked out. Legitimately 30 minutes after leaving the dealership, the check engine light turns on. We take it to Autozone and got the code reading. We are in contact with Dave who wants us to come back to the dealership (which we can't do because of other obligations and we live 3 hours away) and he tells us that they will handle it/pay for it since they don't like doing business like that. We take it to a dealer by us and get it diagnosed and it comes back at costing $2,400. Now all of the sudden Rochester doesn't know if they can approve to fix it, but they'll cover the $200 diagnostic. We go back and forth with them for weeks and they keep pushing us off and saying they will call back (which they don't) until finally they say the Allstate warranty they pushed us to buy actually covers it. We call the Allstate and they tell us it covers it. We then find out the original place that diagnosed the vehicle doesn't accept third party warranties. We call around and the only place willing to take it is 1.5 hours away. We drive it there to drop it off, and then they tell us Allstate is actually refusing to cover the issue. We then have to battle Allstate to get it approved since they told us originally it would be. Finally they agree and the part gets fixed. We have since been calling RochesterVW every week to get that original $200 diagnostic reimbursed like they said they would and every single time they either push us off or say they've sent it. That was six months ago. Still no check. On top of all that, the car didn't have any of the standard tire changing tools in the trunk. Hard to feel like we weren't completely scammed by this company. We usually buy our vehicles in cash from private sale to avoid dealerships, but this was a stretch purchase for us since we were having a baby and wanted a nice newer, safer car that wouldn't have any immediate issues since it was low milage and coming from a dealer. I strongly advise avoiding this business.

Within the first two days of buying the truck, it was having major issues starting up - shuddering, turning off and on, etc. Still under my one week warranty, I called Calef, only to be told rather rudely that it was my problem not theirs and that there was nothing they could or would do for me. I just took it in to get it inspected and was told there are gaping holes in the frame, among a host of other problems that render the truck completely useless. Less than a year after purchase. Obviously I should have had it checked out by an independent mechanic - my mistake which I will never repeat. But does anyone know that in New Hampshire they are not legally obligated to disclose information about the vehicles? These guys sold me a f*cking lemon and knew it and took my money and told me to f*ck off. This place deserves to be shut down. DO NOT BUY.

I will not do business with this dealership! BUYERS BEWARE!…read more I put a deposit on a car at this place, and made an appointment to have it checked out by my mechanic. An hour before it was supposed to be sent up there, they decided that they would not send it to the garage, as they would just "tear it apart" over there, and it would be a waste of their time. When I asked if I could take it to a different mechanic, they REFUSED, and told me that if their 30-day warrantee and an inspection sticker wasn't good enough, then they would not sell it to me. So, take away point: THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO HAVE A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT! If there is a bigger red-flag about a car or dealership, I can't think of one. At first it was that particular garage, but when I asked about going to another, the salesman said they were not going to let it go anywhere at all. And, nothing I said to the salesman could convince them otherwise, to the point where he told me "Look, I don't want to keep going around in circles and get aggravated with you - it isn't going to happen." Seeing other reviews here saying "Have your mechanic check out any car you want to buy here" or that they are a "rip-off", only makes it more clear to me that this is not a dealership to do business with. There are multiple others within a few minutes up the same road - my advice would be to drive on by Calef Hwy Auto.
