I was in a difficult situation recently due to a car I purchased at another dealership. This summer I bought my dream car...2020 Mustang convertible GT. After about three months while at the local Ford service center I was told the car had problems in the rear that looked suspicious. I contacted the dealership to discuss these findings. To their credit they promised to look into the issue and sent me to the Dover Chevy collision department. The collision department put their best technician, Jon Sadler on my car immediately and reported very bad news. What I learned was my GT had been a rental and had gotten into a serious accident and the repairs were not done by a professional. The collision department reported this to GM Dan McEwen who contacted the seller of my GT and discussed the findings and repair options. Because the frame was bent on the right side I was given the option to go ahead and have the car fixed or accept a full refund of all the money I spent buying the car plus all the aftermarket items I had purchased. Due to the unknown after learning the GT had been a rental we chose to get a refund which was the appropriate thing to do but broke my heart. While at Dover Chevy I noticed a Camaro convertible in the showroom. Kyle Fales approached me and I explained the issue with the Mustang. He and I looked at the 2023 3LT Camaro and I was impressed with the tech loaded in it and the refinements. Kyle knew I was in a bad placed due the news of my previous car. He went to GM Don McEwen who was by that time fully aware of my situation. I was given a very fair price for the new car with added discounts for my military service and Chevy rebates. I discussed all of this with my wife. She knew what that Mustang meant to me and was immediately interested in pursuing the Camaro. The difference in price from the return of the Mustang and the price of the Camaro was something we were able to pay in cash, so no financing. It was then that we met financing manager Anton Marienko. Anton went over all the numbers and was very pleasant to deal with. It took less that 30 minutes since we were paying cash for the Camaro. The entire process from the time I first stepped in the door until my wife drove the Camaro off the lot was less than 36 hours. My wife would not drive the Mustang due to the longer hood and seat configuration. She did not feel she could see well enough. The Camaro is built differently so she feels very comfortable driving it which is a plus for me. Don runs a very friendly, low pressure dealership which helped me out when I felt vulnerable. I thank him and his staff for their assistance in getting out of a very bad situation and into a brand new car that we will enjoy for many years. I also want to thank the collision specialist, Jon Sadler for his brutal honesty. His discussions with me helped immeasurably with making the decision to let the Mustang go. 5 Stars Jon !! Parts consultant BRIAN Rhodus 5 PLUS. GM points can be a struggle to use with the amount of times GM has changed how you can use your points and changed card holders. Plus with me giving him wrong info RON smiled and was sincerely pleasant through whole ordeal. Sales were not very personable. The Business manager was cocky and failed miserably at his Job. Got me a terrible rate. He lied and said he applied to my credit union and got denied. I followed up with my Credit union and they had no record of an application. I had to refinance through my credit union. My rate went from 5% down to 1.5%. My advice: Car dealers don't negotiate price anymore. Know what you want and have Financing lined up before you even go to this place. I have purchase many cars from many dealerships. This was by far my worst experience with a business manger. Sales man was no great shakes either. read more

UPDATE: About a week ago or so, the GM, Josh, of the dealership gave me a call after seeing my review on here and genuinely seemed a bit taken back by my experience. I merely wanted to inform others of my experience as well as someone in a position to do something about changing the atmosphere there. I condone the personal call from him and respect it as he could've completely ignored the issue. I expressed myself and we parted ways. I was very surprised to have gotten a call back within the hour from Josh asking if he could send me a $100 gift card for gas for my trouble. I made a service appointment online but I never received a confirmation email or phone call like I do at other locations. I called the service department to confirm my appointment and the guy tells me he does see some appointment but he also have 2 other people at the time so asked if I can come earlier. I told him I'm coming from out of state and it probably wouldn't be possible. He didn't give me another other option he just said that the earlier I come the better because they have stuff to do in the afternoon.. He has poor customer service he should have kept my scheduled appointment and not say come earlier to someone who is already driving from far away. I will never go back to this place. Horrible customer service. Do not go here. I've been to the Portsmouth dealership and they're 10X better than this place. read more

Not a good place. Salespeople lack direction. They offered me 0 for my trades and I left. Later salesperson called and said they forgot a zero, that they would give me 1000 for one of them. I don't know how you forgot a 0 on the 0 you offered. Email after said 1500 for both trades. I want 1000each. Not excessive. Next email tells me comeback we have 3 cars available in my range. I agree to go back. Now I show up for a schedule appointment and they aren't even ready for me. Manager that was supposed to work with me directly, passes me off to another guy who doesn't even know why I'm there. He only shows me one car when 3 should have been ready to view at my appointment. Dealer fees are to high. Shady and deceptive with trades. Overall negative experience. read more

I brought my car in to get new key fobs and be repainted. This place had my car for over a week and still managed to give me faulty key fobs as they did not check them before giving them back to me. Only to have me come in again and be rude to me wondering why I could not tell the difference between new and old key fobs that look the exact same. Every time a worker named Chris who lacks any sort of customer service skill has "helped" me and been incredibly rude. I would recommend going to any dealer but this one as they clearly take no care in what they do. read more

My wife and I drove to Chevrolet of Dover Wednesday night with hopes of bringing home a used Odyssey we had our eyes on. Upon further inspection there was a seatbelt issue and our trip home wasn't to be. Despite not being able to drive our new car home that night the team at Dover Chevrolet worked tirelessly over the next day and a half to make sure we were all set to get on the road for our family vacation that Friday. This place is just awful. Horrible customer service. Go ahead- Try walking in this place and actually finding anyone to help you. They are all sitting in the break room eating and drinking while people walk around like zombies looking for help. And, the off chance that someone actually helps you, they are incredibly rude. How dare you bother them? This place has a horrible rating on Yelp for a reason, folks. Go to another dealership. There are other Chevy dealerships around. It always amazes me when places like this are in business and nothing is ever done about it. Bunch of idiots work at this place. There are better places to go where you can be ignored and treated poorly. I understand that car salesmen typically have a bad reputation, but that's not what this review is about. This review is for anyone who has to bring their car here for any reason, and being ignored and then treated like garbage. And, even after all of that, I was STILL nice to these people, because I am a decent human being, unlike these clowns. Oh, and they charge $99.50/hr. Just stay away from this place. Worst sales experience ever. My wife and I stopped by one evening to drive a car we saw on their website. The sales department refused to negotiate at all, they offered a certain amount for our trade and then reduced it by more than a thousand after they had our interest. Total bait and switch. Purchasing my used 2011 Chevrolet Camaro from Dover Chevrolet was easy and painless. I had enjoyed Fahad and James, who had both helped me out further than necessary and even performed far beyond any expectation that I might have had walking into a car dealership. Example A: When I dropped off my rental car on the day that I was to take my other car home, Fahad picked me up from the rental facility (a 15 or so minute drive). Extremely courteous of him to do. Example B: James would call me, even when not on the clock, and give me periodical updates as to the status of my car loan, etc. Something he was not expected to do, but had done anyway. He was also very polite and humble, and never pushed me to buy anything extra or something else. They really did a good job getting me to the right place and helping me drive home in a wonderful car (which they had also cleaned inside and out before driving off of the lot). This is an excellent car dealership and I would personally recommend anyone go there if they want to buy a new or used vehicle. Wow -- what a terrible waste of time this dealership was for me. The one star goes to the receptionist, who was sweet and knew the business hours as well as the cars in the lot. Otherwise, this place receives zero stars, thanks to Jim and drake. I had an appointment to have my car appraised on a Friday, but decided to swing over the Thursday night before to check out the place with my husband. I would have bought a car that night on the spot if the salesman put me in the car I wanted to drive. A Chevy salesman swooped me up and when I told him I was looking for a specific honda, instead of steering me in the right direction, he steered me into an Aveo. I figured I would give the salesman, Drake, the benefit of the doubt, even though I wanted to test a specific vehicle (which he said was on the lot but he had "trouble finding the keys"). An hour later, this guy has my prelim paperwork done and tries to sell me two different Chevys, but does not get me in the car I'm wanting to drive. Oh well, I think, I'll be here tomorrow for the appraisal, he's just waiting for that. Ok - so next day. I'm running a little late, but drake calls me when I'm on my way. I ask if I'll still get my trade-in assessed, assuming that will happen will I test the car I'm there to drive. "Of course" he says. Well, I get there, he puts me in three more Chevys, an hour later my car has not been appraised. And finally, drake tells me the car I was in the market for was no longer on the lot. What the what?? I drove 60 miles round trip twice to test a car you no longer had?? And you failed to tell me on two occasions?? Bastards! "So what about the trade-in value?" I ask. Maybe I'll buy that newer model if the trade in is on the higher end (I think to myself). Jim, who I never saw, relayed the message that they will not assess unless I'm definitely going to leave the lot in one of their cars. So out the door I leave, no new vehicle, no knowledge regarding the trade-in, morning totally wasted. Never again will I step foot on this lot. Terrible. read more

I have bought from Dover before but figured I would shop around this time so I called 3 places and only Dover was able to answer all my questions. Josh the manager said he had the truck that fit the bill so I drove an hour to get their. It was waiting and warmed up - awesome! Josh introduced me to Shawn, who by the way was my last salesman. The kid answered all my questions and then some. Pricing was a little off because I don't qualify for a lease rebate but, ok that is on Chevy. I get it and josh was upfront about it before I got their. Other than that they were great to deal with. It was a great experience and the 1st time I was out in less than an hour. I love the truck and hopefully these guys will still be there when I buy my next 1 from them. Just a side note, the finance guy needs to slow down when going over the paperwork.
